Lenovo Z51-70 DSDT Fix

I had mixed (mostly negative) results with Realtek based adapters, but the Ralink one is working without any issue since mountain lion.

Try sourcing a Ralink based card.

Also for ethernet, I am using a trendnet usb-ethernet adapter, as the built-in realtek adapter is not working (same problem as yours, detects the cable but doesnot get the IP address, nor transmit / receive anything)

Thanks a lot RiShiE for your advice, I will try to find the Ralink based card you're talking about.

Something that I don't understand, and I must admit that I am a lot disappointed with, is that the Z51-70 si given to be compatible with El Capitan, especially for the wired Ethernet connection (http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/compatibility/).
That was the reason why I chose to buy this specific model.

I was only expecting to buy an external USB Wifi card. I don't understand who actually tested this model before appearing in the compatibility list, and I'm not even sure it has been tested. Do you guys have info on this "compatibility" list?

Do you think wired connection would work if I install Yosemite instead of El Capitan?

One last thing, do you also have a "scrumbled" display on startup, that you can "fix" by plugging/unplugging a VGA cable or by closing/opening the laptop lid? If so, did you find something to automatically fix that?

Thanks in advance!

I never had any scrambled display on startup on Z51, but I used to have it on my Lenovo T430 earlier, and I had to live with that.

Wired connection sometimes works, when I plug-in the cable while booting up, but if I disconnect or connection drops, it won't work again. I tried different Realtek ethernet kexts and all have the same issue.

Does anyone have a link for extracting the Bluetooth firmware from windows and using it here?

We have a non-exhaustive list of supported/unsupported wireless devices here. The NetGear USB dongle that was tested and reported (by me) is the WNA3100M. You've mentioned a WNA1000M, can you post the PCI device id to identify the chip it's built on? This will greatly assist in establishing whether it is supported or not under OS X and finding the eventual driver.

If the laptop is fitted with a RealTek RTL8111 LAN card, you may try the 10.7 drivers posted on their support web site.

Oh well, with a little 5min search, here you are:

https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Netgear_WNA1000M

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true

Use the 10.8 package. If the app won't run due to OS X version difference, just extract the kexts from it or modify the Info.plist of the app so that it matches your OS version.

Dear Hervé,

Thanks for your advice, I tried what you advised, with no luck. Still the same behaviour.
By looking for some more info about the Wifi USB dongle, I found out that the PCI Device ID of the WNA1000Mv2 was 9043, instead of 9041 for the WNA1000M.

It should work with rtl8192cu driver (https://usb-ids.gowdy.us/read/UD/0846/9043) but… it doesn't!

Grrrr I'm not in luck!

If anyone has any piece of idea for my problems, it will be lovely!

I was getting 7mb graphics on intel 5500. I used RiShie's kext and I get 1536mb graphics. But the graphics are still scrambled.

I too have the scrambled graphics on startup. Simply close and reopen the laptop case and you'll be fine. Also, plug/unplug a VGA cable already connected to a device and you'll be fine.

It's the way I do with mine, for now.
