Latitude 6430u, El Capitan, Clover - black screen

In BIOS in the Video section Native Resolution I've seen 0 by 0 and 32 by 554 depending on the video driver installed.

Panel Type is Unknown Type.

Dell confirmed that it was a technical failure on this 6430u so I am returning it.

 

I got 6430 (1366x768, NVidia) instead. Can you help me with

 

1) is there a guide how to install Sierra on it?

2) in the guide by Jake Lo for El Capitan bootpack is for 1600x900 and above, is there a bootpack for 1366x768 ?

This is a 6430u with nvidia or E6430 with Nvidia?

If the latter, check the Latitude E6xxx section.

It is 6430, not 6430u.

 

I checked  the Latitude E6xxx section but was not able to find what bootpack should I use for low res (1366x768, NVidia)

Try this

It'll work for all display resolution if you're using nvidia only.

Only the HD 4000 requires different patches depending on the resolution.

Dell manufactured and commercialised the following models:

• Latitude 6430u (not an E series, based on ULV i3/i5/i7 CPUs)
• Latitude E6430 (incl. ATG version)
• Latitude E6430s

 

So you have one of those 3 but not just "6430". Since neither the Latitude 6430u nor the E6430s is fitted with a discrete GPU, we'll have to assume you now have a E6430 with Optimus/dual GPUs (HD4000 + nVidia NVS 5200M). As such please redirect your queries to the E6xxx section.
