lonrot
I followed this guide step by step, this my clover setup and got stuck on the bios menu, the UEFI doesn't show a boot list to choose the USB drive. Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/OkdN9Ri.jpg The boot sequence is set to UEFI. But F12 won't show any option to boot via USB, so I added these options on the UEFI Boot sequence: \EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI And \EFI\CLOVER\CLOVERX64.efi Both return a black screen. What am I doing wrong?
Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 27, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 27, 2017 If you're following the guide closely, you'll notice that for SandyBridge, I have use Legacy instead of UEFI. I was not able to get UEFI working with this model. Note1: For Exx20 (SandyBridge models), use Legacy - GUID Scheme. Not UEFI Install Clover with the following settings in 1: Prepare Bootable USB Drive step 26 above: Install Clover in the ESP Bootloader/Install boot0af in MBR CloverEFI/CloverEFI 64-bits SATA
lonrot
Thank you Jake, is it possible to force UEFI after installing Sierra? Will the boot speed be slower with Legacy?
Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 27, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 27, 2017 I don't see a difference in the boot time. As I said, I'm not able to get UEFI to work on this model. Others were successful but I noticed they were dual booting with Windows, so perhaps that's workaround.
lonrot
Jake, everything works except the wireless! In the network options "Wi-Fi" is grayed. What I'm missing?
Administrators Hervé Posted March 27, 2017 Administrators Share Posted March 27, 2017 A compatible card maybe? We cannot guess what's fitted to your computer so you'll have to tell us (as always...). We'll assume that: wireless is enabled in BIOS wireless on/off side switch is in ON position If necessary: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2120-inventory-of-supported-and-unsupported-wireless-cards/
Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 27, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 27, 2017 You most likely have an Intel Wireless which is unsupported. Follow Hervé's link for supported / unsupported cards.
lonrot
Yes, the switch is set to ON, and it's also checked on the BIOS settings. Can anyone confirm that Wireless works on Sierra for E6420?
lonrot
Is there a way to inspect the component, and be sure that it's Intel Wireless? If that's the case does El Capitan has support for it? I can ditch Sierra just for the inconvenience.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 27, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 27, 2017 Just open up the bottom panel, should just be 1 screw. No, Intel Wireless is not supported by OS X ( any version). Go for a DW1510, works out of the box. If you want Bluetooth as well, then go for DW1550.
