  1. Here one possible solution for This disk cannot be used to start up your computer Apple offers no explanation as to why the installation may balk here, other than to say it can happen in “some situations.” However, Apple does provide a solution: Restart your Mac, launch Disk Utility and, from the Partition tab, slightly reduce the size of your startup partition (by as little as 128MB). You should now be able to install Lion. When done, you can restore the partition to its previous size. If this resizing trick fails, you will likely need to reformat the drive.
  2. Yup, 2GB is minimum. Also, check your had drive. Lion likes the whole HD and not only one partition of it. Also, if HD is formated with MBR option instead of GUID option, you might see this error. Look in this thread at InsanelyMac forum. There is this file OSInstall.zip, which is a replacement for original one in Lion installation. It should solve this error message. Haven't tried myself though.
  3. AFAIK OS X does not support Intel WiFi. Hence, there is no Intel WiFi driver (kext) we could use or patch for your WiFi. To get your WiFi working, you will need to replace your WiFi card with one from Apple or BroadCom. Many here were forced to do so, unfortunately, And there is nothing we can do about. But, the good thing is, a new WiFi card is a $5-$10 item easily found on eBay. And you have a chance to integrate one with full OS X support and all available broadcasting standards. Use search and you will find several threads discussing this issue and suggesting alternatives.
  4. Which version of Chameleon do you use? I have had this issue with several releases. Try r1213 we use here for our EDP installation. If it does not work, look for r1096. Both worked for me. Tell us how it went.
  5. Bronx already gave you an answer for sluggishness. I used the same folder I've sent you to install Lion. No issues whatsoever.
  6. Are you getting it more than on the first install? I installed Lion several times and it only asked me once, immediately after the installation and never again. Well, one way is turning your Bluetooth off completely (in BIOS). The other is to remove the bluetooth keyboard out Bluetooth menue in Preference Panel.
  7. Hi Badger, welcome to OSXLATITUDE! Macluscious summarized all you need very well: - you can find all you need to run SnowLeo in our Wiki and here in the forum - Wiki is the best starting point, all needed operations for SnowLeo on D630 are described step by step - please: do not mix installation methods! We can only help you, if you use what we offer and know well - many D630 users were successful following our guides and using our EDP, you can make it too. No rocket science! - if you have any questions in regard to D630 and SnowLeo, based on Chameleon and EDP - this community is able and willing to help Have fun!
  8. I attached Chameleon 1213 as well.Zeppo Extra.zip
  9. Make sure that you have a WHOLE drive dedicated to Lion. Lion insists on the whole HD and not only a partition on a HD. Also, make sure your drive is formated with GUID scheme (Disk Utility->Partition->1 Partition->Options->GUID) Lion does not want to install on an HD partitioned with MBR (Master Boot Record). Hope this helps.
  10. Please use Chameleon 2 RC5 r1213 and EDP 1.9 All other versions are not suitable for Lion. Even EDP 1.9 is first and foremost for SnowLeopard but works with Lion as well. Highly optimized Lion EDP is in the making and will be called EDP2. However, I have my D430 working fine with Lion. You need to install Chameleon r1213 and EDP1.9. In edptool you need to choose your machine (D4x0), ps2 driver (option 3 works fine), nullcpu + sleepenabler and voodoobattery. Do not use Applebattery kext! This should do the trick.
  11. OK, I found it and tried. It disables sleep on my machine. Well, if it works fine for you - great. It sadly does not for me.
  12. Is the HD where you try to install Lion GUID partition? Usually Lion does not want to install on MBR formated drives. Check. Also, for the case where you get this message, tonycrap offers an OSInstall.pkg, which should solve this issue. Or here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=256729
  13. Well, you might see something funny there LatinMcG. All I can see is a fellow OSXLATITUDist asking for help. Now, you might express all amusement you wish here, no problem. You are a registered member of the community. But you can also turn yourself into a ressource for the community and help a n00b out of his trouble. How about sharing some of your knowledge instead of LOLing to lack of the same by someone else? Honest question.
  14. I have all things working on my d430, but I just used Chameleon 2 RC5 r1213 and EDP 1.9 I had this same issue with verbose boot but, after one or two tries, it boots normal now. Also, there is this AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext out of SnowLeo which should solve the screen brightness issue. At least it does in my Lion. Sound was working fine from start on. Give Chameleon 1213 and EDP 1.9 a try. If you wish, I can post my /Extra folder for you to try.
  15. Yes, try Wiki entry fr sleep, it works great with Lion too. Gaansan, can you describe this override out of your BIOS. I am not sure if I just missed it with in D430 or if I don't have that feature at all. THX!
  16. Slice, where can we download your newest versions? THX!
  17. Well, although we have strong opponents towards booting from the USB stick, even in our small group here, I prefer this method to all others. I run two hackintoshes, one desktop with Gigabyte board and NVIDIA graphics and my D430. For both I managed to have a clean, really vanilla OS X on my harddrives and Chameleon, OS X install media and all hack stuff are based on USB devices. I have two of those per computer. First USB stick contains the safe configuration, one which boots every time. All fancy tweaks, options and whatnot are banned there. It really does boot every time. The second one is my regular boot stick. The one for tinkering around with configurations, tweaks and optimizations. I also use it to test new versions of Chameleon or EDP. So, whenever I like to try something and it fails, I don't care. I just replace the screwed up stick with my secure one and - off I go. As soon as I am back in OSX, I restore the configuration of the regular stick and replace the secure one with it. I probably installed OS X once to many for being confortable with Chameleon and /Extra folder being based on my HD. Way to many times I altered my configuration or installed a new kext, just to find out that it does not boot any more. Since by default Chameleon chooses the configuration from the drive you would like to start from (if /Extra folder available there), you will not be able to revive your installation by booting from stick. USB stick method didn't fail me once so far. Also, I am against altering OSX on HD in any way. I do not touch Library or System folder, nor the files based there. If something cannot be fixed by tweaks or kexts on my USB stick - I am waiting until there is a method which will allow me to keep my OSX clean. That way I can always ensure that the standard OSX upgrade can be run without killing all my tweaks in files being overwritten by new versions. The easiest way to keep the upgrade path open. But that's me. Your mileage may vary.
  18. Well, I followed the exact steps like in SL. And it worked for me. Try it.

    Good morning! ;)

Hi jamba! Welcome to OSXLATITUDE! Ex-Munich resident speaking. You will find out that this is the right place to be, in order to OSX your D430. I myself am using D430. Great with 10.6. Working fine with 10.7, but needs some further optimization. If you follow the Wiki, you should have no issues whatsoever, crating your own OSXLatitude D430. All will be working (well, not exactly all but most important things are. Explanation in Wiki) just fine: Sleep, Sound, TimeMachine, etc. If you need assistance, do not hesitate to ask. You will find out that the group is very supportive and many knowledgable pople will chip in. Enjoy!
  20. You are very welcome latidude! Nice o hear all worked well for you. Enjoy your OSXLatitude.
  21. Tried Wiki? There is this tutorial which explains how to fix sleep on DELL Latitudes.
  22. I am telling you something you already know. But for all others reading this: it works nicely with my D430. No issues so far. Good work! Thanks!
  23. Errr... what do you mean by "second screen"? Are you trying to install using external screen and/or port replicator/docking station? If so, you are bound to fail. Try clean install on laptop only. No external devices.
  24. Have you tried to disable speedstep from the HW side, in BIOS?
