  1. I've got the dsdt already. Cheers
  2. Thanks for the clarification Bronxteck. I think myself and Russell realise that Chameleon is a bootloader - but the myhack application creates a USB stick WITH Chameleon slipstreamed into it to facilitate the initial boot and install - so Russell couldn't re-install Chameleon as such - just re-run the myhack build process (and as above perhaps using myhack 2.1 in case the version of Chameleon in myhack 2.2 is the problem with the D series boot). I think the way us (well myself anyway) noobs are approaching this now is using the myhack process as it makes the process that bit easier than creating boot sticks from scratch - I suspect their is a way to change the version of Chameleon on Russells existing stick - but easier to try myhack 2.1 and see what happens.
  3. Send me a PM and I'll send you a link to my dropbox copy of myhack 2.1 (don't want to publish the link here as don't know if it breaks the forum rules / in respect of the original author) - if we can prove the myhack 2.2 version has an issue with Dells then we can let the author know to try and help get it fixed (in the end myhack is a generic app not specific to Dell's). Cheers

  5. +1 on that - better first check before you get your hands dirty
  6. Yes your right - the only thing you need is the myhack created boot USB key and the replaced extra folder for the correct D620 for the initial boot and Lion install (and the initial boot is where your stuck as I understand it) - the Chameleon and EDP install is once your into Lion for the first time (I downloaded these both separately to install) - but (excuse me if I'm wrong) the Chameleon included in the myhack build is used for the initial boot - but you don't install this it's part of the USB boot process created by myhack. Hope that makes sense (and anyone shout up if I'm incorrect). Cheers
  7. I think you mean myhack 2.2, edp 2.2 is a seperate app/script used after initial install. Cheers
  8. You also moved the Extra folder from the correct boot pack for your d620 onto the USB disk?
  9. Did the my hack process seemed to take a while and it didn't throw up any errors? I built a Lion USB key fine with my hack 2.1 for a D620, might be worth building the USB disk again using my hack 2.1?
  10. I think you need to run myhack on a Mac osx install 10.6 or higher. The my hack process takes a good number of minutes when it's run and needs to be ran as a su. Also might be worth seeking out my hack 2.1 - I just created a lion boot USB key with 2.2 for someone and he is having issues trying to install lion with it. Going to get it back to test and perhaps build again with 2.1
  11. Easiest way to check card is to look at it - remove the hinge cover plastic strip that has the power and volume buttons in it. Remove the three keyboard screws and push the keyboard slightly forward and flip backwards - the wifi card is up top in the middle - white label will show which model - if it's Intel then you need a new card. Dell service manual section : http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd630/en/SM_EN/minicard.htm#wp1084976 This post may help to get a new card and get it working: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/256-how-to-install-lion-on-d620/page__view__findpost__p__8050
  12. Errrr. Did you mean ".....battery exists."? And no not seen this before, is ita genu:ne dell battery? I would say the battery is faulty - they have logic boards in them - so the cells are ok, hence it powers the laptop but comms about its state are not being reported. I assume the BIOS says battery not present?
  13. received my genuine second hand Dell extended battery and got my refund on the new cheap copy one - world of difference The second hand one only cost me a couple of quid more as well - so beware the cheap ones (but have to admit and seller was very accommodating, provided a replacement very quickly and when that was no good they refunded the item as soon as I shipped it back and they refunded the return postage)
  14. Buy a new card (I bought two) - loads cheap on ebay - I bought a DW1395 and worked fine after applying the kext as in above link I posted - don't know where you are but here's a UK one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-Inspiron-1525-DW-1395-WiFi-Card-/180734485477?pt=UK_Computing_LaptopAccess_RL&hash=item2a149d63e5#ht_2011wt_1348 Cheers
  15. thanks bronxteck, just bought a second hand official Dell one from ebay. this second cheap one is just as bad. you get what you pay for!
  16. This might help: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/256-how-to-install-lion-on-d620/page__view__findpost__p__8050 Cheers
  17. Hi I have a D620 with Lion installed all working great thanks to all the great info on osxlatitude. So many thanks first The D620 I bought didn't have a great battery so I sought a new (non genuine) extended one from ebay. I bought one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160726826246?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570.l2736%26_nkw%3D160726826246%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1#ht_2724wt_956 But sent the first one back and had a replacement as after battery life got to just below 50% it would dramatically drop to nearly empty (it was charged and discharged fully several times and I used xbattery app to plot the life of the battery). The new one is the same (only charged and discharged a couple of times up to now). Has anyone had a similar issue? It's not something to do with MAC OSX or the kext or build due to it being a hackintosh? I suspect it's just because it's a non genuine cheap battery but interested to hear anyone else's opinion. Thanks in advance
  18. UPDATE YA fixed :D Installed the IO80211Family.kext.zip from here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=267408 Using Kext Helper form here: http://cheetha.net/ Unzip the kext file, launch Kext Helper, drag the kext into window. Put your password in and apply. Once done reboot (fingers crossed) and WIFI working Hope this helps someone else. Is the kext useful for the Fixes in EDP? Is the Kext Helper app useful for the Tools in EDP? My card comes up as Third Party Wireless Card (as all these cards seem to unless they have been branded). Cheers Any help gratefully excepted and appreciated My first hackintosh and every things gone very well: D620 Nvidia Graphics (1440 x 900) Core2Duo 2ghz. 2gb RAM. Used install guide here and all went well. Using correct latest BIOS from here. Used USB stick (myhack built) install of Lion using correct bootpack from here. Used EDP 2.2 and chameleon. All boots up fine every time and runs solid, screen and graphics drivers working, wired ethernet working (but strangely it runs as a bluetooth PAN in the network settings?), touchpad and everything else ok. Problem is WIFI - originally when I did the install I had an Intel wifi card (I knew it wouldn't work but didn't have a Broadcom card at the time). I bought two DW1395's of ebay but neither gets detected (switch in on on the side and on in the BIOS) - the laptop originally came with XP and intel wifi worked fine - so everything that connects the card is fine. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200557389405?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_623wt_1113 I have tried editing a plist file that I read about in another post in another forum - but that didn't help (even with -f when booting Lion in Chameleon) You need to edit this file to add device id for your DW 1395:- /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext/Contents/Info.plist This is what you need to add because it is not listed in original kext:- <string>pci14e4,4315</string> What am I doing wrong - their must be something I can do post install to get this working - do I need to rebrand the card? Are all DW1395's the same - or do I need a specific one? Errors in log when booting below: Feb 25 20:52:02 localhost UserEventAgent[11]: CaptiveNetworkSupport:CaptiveSCCopyWiFiDevices:388 WiFi Device Name == NULL Feb 25 20:52:05 localhost UserEventAgent[11]: CaptiveNetworkSupport:CaptiveSCCopyWiFiDevices:388 WiFi Device Name == NULL Feb 25 20:52:08 Simons-MacBook-Air com.apple.locationd[43]: ERROR,Time,351895928.007,Function,"_Apple80211* CLWifiService::createApple80211()",Apple80211GetIfListCopy failed, error -3903 (Unknown error: -3903) Thanks in advance
