Before I actually start, for when I do start installing on my other hard drive, if I chose to install Lion first then windows, etc. how would I get the bootloader back to chameleon?

Just saying since you said 'find a Hack or a Mac...', I would prefer to install vanilla since it worked out so well and updated to 10.7.8, just haven't had much luck vanilla.

I have some iFail and Hazard discs laying around and retail osx 10.6 and 10.7 I believe.

Is there any way to install then use myHack to patch the system?

I was thinking about ML, but I used Lion before, it wasn't bad, but I had boot issues from something I did to try to get the x3100 acceleration going. I ran into a issue, to run the virtual machine to use myHack, I would need to swap processors since this one does NOT support vt or vt-x, so I cannot run the vmware I have to create my bootable usb, any suggestions? I have dual layer dvd's and dvd-r, but prefer to use my 8gb thumb drive as I do not have thermal paste to use for after the cpu swap.

Does anyone know what bootpack I should use, the one for Latitude D630 worked great on my old laptop, but I want to get this one triple booting Fuduntu, OSX Lion or MLion and Windows 7. So since I am not sure which bootpack would work, here I am. Things I do know are similar to the Latitude D630: Wifi Card Processor is really close, D630 is better Intel Chipset Different: Intel HD4000 graphics, D630 had x3100 IDT HD Audio, D630 had realtek I believe? well glad to say i already knew how to fix my issues, just had forgotten lol popped in my windows 7 disc, used diskpart to make sure windows was active, repaired the boot automatically (excellent feature) since win xp failed to work lol found a chain0 file online copied it to the root of c:\ edited the boot.ini and wala no need for chameleon as windows will boot mac for me, a simple search gave me the boot.ini line needed to do so. again thanks for the thread OP, i now have a fully functioning hackbook with zero issues. hopefully i am doing this right, i copied the d630 bootpack to the install disk extras folder, the extras from this post over the 2 files that it replaced and ran myfix full. also made a kickstart folder with everything in easy reach in the extras folder. copied the combo update for 10.7.5 dmg to the kickstart folder, hopefully it works out. only one way to find out, reboot and hope i didn't noob it up. edit: i am pleased to report the usb installer booted within seconds, internal keyboard and mouse working, that was an impressive test run, now to delete my fedora partitions and make this laptop a dual boot hackintosh! you sir are a god send! another one: had boot0 error, booted from my usb and everything seems to be working except the things that haven't been patched yet, mouse and keyboard no external needed, but i am having trouble with edp, it cannot find the sh script in /bin. guess the update to 10.7.5 will have to wait a moment. full edp install chosen and reinstalled, still sh: bin/edptool.sh: No such file or directory logout [Process completed] never mind it showed up, wonder why it was so slow and had the error... with the new edp the answers are 1 - 7 -1 - y. i still have the boot0 error and i am not sure how to fix that yet, i installed ahci disabled so i could use my windows partition, so maybe i will find it in this thread, i have seen it before. ok really annoyed, nothing seems to work and i am talking to myself here... i'll try a different thread maybe i can get help there.

glad this is here, maybe i can finally get a good fully functioning hackintosh. also, i know this isn't related to what this forum is for, but i have a old emachines w3507 just collecting dust, i have gotten several successful installs with hazard 10.6.6i and it boots, but i get the waiting for root error. so just wondering if you might be able to help with that, even if i have to use a older version of mac os x. i have 10.6 SL and 10.7 L both retail versions, but i cannot find a solution to getting SL to work on this old computer. iboot (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) boots the install dvd fine, but then it just sits there and empireefi doesn't work at all, so i hope you the OP can help in some way. i know the motherboard is intel and wasn't changed very much from the retail version. i have the intel x3100 gpu, so i am hoping this will still work for me, but before i do try this retail install will i be greeted with a chameleon bootloader and have the option to boot into my xp installation? i am currently dual booting between fedora 17 and xp, but fedora in my opinion just sucks to use. also had to make an account just because this post is so great and detailed, so i had to say thanks! edit: did some further reading, seems i cannot join the mountain lion club lol guess i will be using this guide to assist in installing lion.
