I've read that, but I'm having trouble with it on 10.9.5 and was considering using clover, I've already found a generic guide and I think a kext for my video card, but I haven't had time to try it and at the moment trying to figure out the error on the installer boot.

See above and I think I'll try 10.9 and if it fails the same I'll try the 10.8 I have and see what it does. not sure what else to do at the moment since the kernel should be where it is looking, just surprised myhack didn't work right off. I've seen posts for 10.10 that day use clover, thinking about just trying that instead when I get home tomorrow.

I formatted mbr by mistake before and started over with guid and it does the same thing when I try to boot. it being retail I would imagine it is guid?

ok then what gives? Myhack usually works right away with no issues.

I've gotten a 'can't find mach_kernel' error when trying to boot, that was with the myhack using a partition using mbr, got it making one using quid instead now, I read 10.10 uses kernel instead of mach_kernel, is this also true with 10.9.5 or should I be trying to install 10.9 and use the combo updates?

I know the wireless card is supposed to since it was in a 'customac' parts list and I have read multiple hackintosh posts about it. the video card, I'm hoping isn't going to be like that intel 4500mhd.

I was wondering if anyone had turned this box into a hackintosh, I'd like to get it up to 10.10 if possible, I still have my retail 10.6 and 10.8 on hand and if I get it up and running I can get 10.10 from the app store and hope it boots, not sure if I will need clover or if the chameleon bootloader has been released yet that works properly, seen it in a video working, but I've been out of the loop for a little while and now that I have this box, just hoping it will make a really good dual boot hackintosh. I've already got 10.10 working in vmware so myhack can be run or multi if need be. any tips, thoughts or experience would be greatly appreciated, Herve has always been helpful. i got a bad one with issues with the video card, nice to know it is possible, but now i have a desktop from hp and looking into installing 10.10 lol

This is a very interesting post, my elite I just got yesterday has a 1st gen i7 lynnfield, but based on your results I expect it to be very simple and similar with the outcome of a hackintosh. I have a hp pavilion elite e9270t. I have narrowed down these components i7-860 8gb ram radeon hd 4650 the motherboard is msi currently running linux, but once I get my virtual machine back up, I think I will have success as you did. Nice write up.

I think this laptop can run even the latest osx, problem is it has Intel hd 4600 and nvidia 750m graphics. Anyone tried this yet?

sorry i am so far behind, i am a noob myself, i researched like crazy to get this up and running, with my intel based graphics i abandoned the project hoping there would be some advancement for the card, but there has not been and maybe never will, Hervé was right in that respect, but it can still be a decent hackbook if your not into watching videos all the time like i am. what you need to do is make a myhack pen, just google myhack and you will find it, you will need a mac, hackintosh or a vmware image to make the myhack pen to make a SL installer. that's how i managed to get some kind of stability from it, once i get my new lenovo y500 i will be making this laptop a hackbook 100% of the time and maybe i will learn how to make the kext files and we can finally get some support! pm me your phone number, what timezone and a good time to call, i'll gladly try to walk you through the process or a google name and we can IM about it. i just realized, i responded to a pm about a week or so ago from you, no response back from you yet, so i imagine you have given up, hopefully this is not so and due to my neglecting to sign in on this site for a few months. regardless, seeing this post has inspired me to overwrite my arch linux install and reinstall mac, pretty sure i kept my pen drive intact for such a change of heart, it's just too bad that i never did get a reply from a forum member about what his team could or could not do for the 4500mhd or what ever it was after he helped with a dsdt.aml which i am still grateful for.

So the acceleration for x3100 has been solved herve? Any progress on 4500mhd? I am in the process of building a ivy bridge box, this would stop those plans.

ok, opening this up for discussion. i have gotten as far as finding what others have put together and adding in the dsdt dinesh patched for me. i have gotten the installer to load with a set of kext files and -v arch=i386, apparently setting i386 in the chameleon plist has no effect with the installer or something like that, to continue i can erase my partition, let it sit there for a period of time and it's fine, about a minute into installing, the installer locks up, can move the mouse, but then about 30 seconds later it too locks up. this at first occured when my fan kicked on, now it just does it while installing, so i have spent the last four hours trying to narrow it down. my current bootpack is attached. also included, kext files i downloaded in a pack for 10.7 and the 1545. hope this helps someone help me find the solution. 1545 boot.zip

finally found my post and your reply, lion seems to run really well now for me after i enabled ahci, don't know how it was disabled lol, netflix is still jittery, but other video sources seem fine. is there no way to bypass the 64 arch type or convert the 32 bit driver over to 64? also about the video stuff, i also disabled speedstep and all the other powersave features in bios, doubt that changed it much.

I swear I posted this already, but the post is gone from 3rd party apps, might be why it was in the wrong place. Ok, I have a Dell D630 x3100 (1280x800). I had to swap my processor from the D630 to my Inspiron 1545 for the VT-X support. I ran EDP and all went fine until reboot, Chameleon just stalled out instantly. Reinstalled and copied the Extensions provided by EDP, ran myHack->myFix and everything is up running and fine, except the things EDP does, for example: CPU monitor dylib files, etc. So I would like to run EDP without updating Chameleon or an instruction set to finish installing the rest that EDP does, I could live without the rest, but I figure if you guys included them, they must be important. after installing edp and using the files from it, i began having problems. the files from this post corrected them. maybe i am using the *3100FB.kext from 10.7 itself.. though this post lists one for use, could be my video problem right there. i am having issues with chameleon booting from my harddrive, either it does not load after i set the drive active with fdisk -e /dev/disk0 or it loads 3 lines and halts or nothing at all, so i have to boot from myHack pen. either way, having restart issues, so going to reinstall without using edp and see what happens, also you were right herve having a fully functional hackintosh is so much better.

did you use any files from here? http://osx86.co/f87/dell-d620-630-830-kext-pack-t3840/ my video playback is sluggish and i used the 3100FB.kext from the bootpack and/or maybe EDP, so just would like to fix netflix playback from being sluggish and possibly other video playback. also whenever i try to restart, everything turns off except the fans and power, shutdown seems to work fine.

Going to make another myHack pen with 2 partitions, one 10.6 and one 10.7, if I get 10.7 directly with the kext files I have found maybe I can abandon 10.6.8 problems. thanks for pinning my other post, i reinstalled osx 10.7 on my d630, found the guide on this site again and so far adding the files and installing the chameleon loader provided in the post stopped the random kernel panics, edp needs to be corrected to use those files. also i should have a dsdt for this laptop tomorrow, hopefully and maybe it will fix some of my upgrade issues, i'll probably have the dual installer pen ready by then and maybe get 10.7 to install and start over, i did find a source for the x4500, not sure if it has qe/ci, but i would like to build it and try it out, how would i go about doing that?

try using windows 7 diskpart, it has been flawless for me, and when installing chameleon install it to the mac partition, if any of the operating systems fail to load report back. it is actually very easy to get windows xp/7 and mac to co-exist, i for one think windows 8 is an abomination (windows me) and refuse to use it, but expect repairing the boot sector should be as simple as windows 7 and if any of the windows installs will not boot run the repair tool, reboot with your install disc and open command prompt and run diskpart and set your first windows install active, reboot follow the same steps and set mac active and let chameleon take over, you may have to use the first windows install to select from the other installations. hope that made some kind of sense.

When I get home I have a few combo updates downloaded, should I use update 10.6.8 or the combo? ok downloading the 10.6.3, 10.6.7 combo updates and 10.6.8 v1.1 update, hopefully the first two are as smooth as expected and 10.6.8 is smooth as possible. 10.6.3 installed with no issues, if i update aiport utility do you expect an issue? installed 10.6.7 and had a issue with the SleepEnabler.kext, swapped it with the one i found for 10.6.8 and it booted just fine. i know 10.6.8 is going to give me trouble so i'll wait for you to come back before i run the update. updating chameleon and hoping it has the prefpane, i have no idea how to add p and c states or the other options you mentioned before in the plist file manually, also trying out a patched x3100 and x3100FB that was done for Lion i believe. just my luck, the patched x3100 i chose has a back light issue lol also could you pin this? https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2127-how-to-install-106-snow-leopard-on-dell-inspiron-1545/ Trying 10.6.8 update, but hangs after NTFS driver 3.4 [Flags: R/W].
