Hi, Haven't been here for a while. I am wondering if anyone actually swapped CLOVER for OpenCore on a Dell Inspiron 3537? If yes would anyone share their setup?

Dell Inspiron 3537 Mojave to Catalina upgrade issue
verebes replied to verebes's topic in The Archive
First I have remounted the drive using sudo mount -uw / then used the Kext Utility to install the kext. But I believe it had something to do with the kernel cache or something as it seemed that it was not refreshed and cleaned properly. Is there a way of checking the cache? or a new command to update the cache? Or is it still sudo kextcache -i /- 13 replies

Dell Inspiron 3537 Mojave to Catalina upgrade issue
verebes replied to verebes's topic in The Archive
I have tried that Kext also and my kext from Mojave also and none of them have worked. I had the wifi showing up like mentioned before but was not finding any networks and it seems to load with a delay not like it used to do in Mojave. After using the above attached tool it works. The only problem is a cosmetical issue which I mentioned.- 13 replies

Dell Inspiron 3537 Mojave to Catalina upgrade issue
verebes replied to verebes's topic in The Archive
I read it but injecting the whole kext from Mojave did not work somehow I don't know what seems to be the problem but I think that there are some kind of conflicting drivers. I have used an app which I have attached to enable the Wifi Card however I do not trust these kind of apps as I am not sure what exactly they do. Now the WiFi works perfectly there is only one cosmetical problem if I start the computer it only shows one bar of WiFi strength, but if I disable and re-enable the WiFi it does show the full signal bars. Dell Inspiron 3537 Mojave to Catalina upgrade issue
verebes replied to verebes's topic in The Archive
Thanks Jake Lo, you saved me with that one. I also added SSDT-EC.aml and the corresponding ACPI PATCH into clover however I do not know if it is needed. Catalina installed flawlessly the only thing which is not working is my WIFI it is an Atheros 9285 which was working perfectly fine in Mojave with the injection of Atheros40.Kext into the IO80211Family.kext but weirdly Catalina recognizes my WiFI somehow but cannot find any wifi networks plus it seems to load oddly with a huge delay. Like some drivers are conflicting and I don't know how to find out which ones. I also tried adding the whole IO80211Family.kext from Mojave but it did not make it to work. I have remounted the system with root permission before installing any kexts. Could you please help me on this one?- 13 replies

I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 with Core i7 - 4500U processor, 8GB Ram, Intel HD4400 Graphics, Radeon Discrete Graphics(which I believe I have disabled correctly) My setup might sound a bit odd as I have two SSD's and on the main one where I keep the Mac-OS I have an EFI with Clover which runs smoothly when booting the system, however, I cannot do any updates on that Clover (probably something wrong with the Config.plist which I cannot figure out) On the secondary SSD I have another EFI with Clover which works flawlessly when I run any Mac-OS updates, however that one Panics when I want to run the system on it. I did not have any problems with it just got used to it. I recently did a full copy of the system and upgraded it from Mojave 10.14.6 to Catalina 10.15. using the secondary clover. The update went fine but I cannot start the system using my usual Main Clover which I used for Mojave. It also Panics when I try to run it on the secondary Clover. I have managed to get it running in Safe mode using the Secondary Clover. Could anyone guide me into the right direction.I believe that my Secondary Clover might need some small tweak to have it run the updates as well as the Main system. I am attaching the Main System Clover and the Secondary Clover and Debug files created using gen_debug. Update-EFI.zip debug_17845.zip Main-EFI.zip

Yes it works. Thanks very much. Now i'm experiencing weird problem. If i am using the OSX for a few hours, it starts to be very laggy the mouse freezes a little like the framerate would be low in a game. Also when i shutdown after those few hours it never turns off correctly the power light stays on and i have to hold the power off button for a few seconds to turn it off. The weirdest issue with this is that if i use it for like half an hour or so it works smoothly and shuts down correctly. Any advice appreciated. Thank you in advance

Have no fear as solution is here Anyone having problem to enable HDMI audio on Realtek ALC283 here is the solution: one single change is needed to the patch where it says "layout-id", Buffer() { 12, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 } Change it to "layout-id", Buffer() { 3, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 } Apply the patch to ssdt-1 copy it to your efi partition to efi/clover/acpi/patched Reboot and jobe done Below i have posted the modified patch if anyone just want to copy and paste #Maintained by: RehabMan for: Laptop Patches#graphics_Rename-B0D3.txt # for DSDT into method label _WAK code_regex B0D3 replaceall_matched begin HDAU end; into definitionblock code_regex B0D3 replaceall_matched begin HDAU end; # inject "hda-gfx"="onboard-1" into HDAU (B0D3 originally) into method label _DSM parent_adr 0x00030000 remove_entry; into device name_adr 0x00030000 insert begin Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized)\n {\n If (LEqual (Arg2, Zero)) { Return (Buffer() { 0x03 } ) }\n Return (Package()\n {\n "layout-id", Buffer() { 3, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 },\n "hda-gfx", Buffer() { "onboard-1" },\n })\n }\n end; into device label B0D3 set_label begin HDAU end; into method label SBCB code_regex B0D3 replaceall_matched begin HDAU end;

Thanks for the response however it still doesn't want to work i have checked if it is attached to the AMD graphics but i have disabled it in windows and the sound is working so i presume it is attached to the intel hd. One weird thing when i was repatching the ssdt-s i have extracted them by selecting generate p and c states and then F4 after reboot but that was using the installed clover not via usb. SSD-8 was simply missing can anyone tell me why? Also i have tried this to enable cdmi : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/310530-el-capitan-applehda-hdmi-audio/ I have used to CloverHDMI script and it said that i do not have HDMI Cocecs installed. Perhaps that is the problem but i have googled and i cannot get any clue howto install them. Also if anyone could post the 10.11.4 vanilla apple hda kext i would appreciate it. Thanks for the help once again

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me with this one i've been trying a lot of things but i cannot enable HDMI audio on my machine. The setup is Dell Inspiron 15 3537 Core i7 4500U 8GB Ram Intel HD4400 / switchable to AMD Radeon (however when i dump my ssts i cannot get SSDT-8) 1TB HDD ALC 283 audio I have upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan with some small problems but now it is fine however i cannot adjust the backlight with the FN key like i could before. I have dumped new DSDT and SSDT today with the latest Clover and rematched the files using this Guide: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/8526-guide-dell-inspiron-3x37-5x37-7x37-clover-yosemiteel-capitan/ Because my audio was not working at all. Thanks to the guide and to repatching now my audio works fine but still no sign of HDMI audio for which i am desperate. Can someone please help me and tell me what is wrong with the configuration I am uploading everything i have done to the system. All the kexts installed and also my CLOVER folder. I dont know if there is a newer fakepci kext set which i supposed to install??(Update just tried installing the latest Fakepciid and still no HDMI Audio) CLOVER.zip Installed_Kexts.zip

thank you for all your help Jake. it is working now perfectly fine on the hdmi video output. your first config file was ok. It is working with my patched kexts. The only problem was my cdmi angled connector was broken i noticed it when i could not connect my windows to the tv however strangely my Ubuntu linux was working perfect all the time this is why i was confused. Anyway a massive thank you for all the help!!

Is there any hope to have a working HDMI video output on Yosemite 10.10.3 ?
