  1. Hi ckleea,

Nice guide. We may move it the site for other members to benefit.

By the way, have you tried this with Windows 7? It is possible to use Windows 7 bootloader instead of Chameleon?

    Cheers!

  2. Hi moonman,

I'm running lion on my D630 with EDP 2.2. After you run EDP, did you run myfix full mode?

    Cheers!

EDIT: Download the new EDP 3 from the forum and try it.

  3. Dear Mr. A,

I have a D630 and the only difference is graphics card. So the EDP should work. Anyway, try this:-

    (a) Copy your existing dsdt.aml in /Extra to somewhere save.

(b )Run EDP again but this time select D630 intel and select 1 or yes until finish.

(c )Copy back the dsdt.aml that you stored previously to /Extra

    (d) Reboot with mach_kernel arch=i386 -v -f (if this does not work try mach_kernel arch=i386

    PciRoot=1 npci=0x2000 USBBusFix=yes -v)

    (e) By the way, just to be safe, go to bios first to disable wifi and before proceeding with rebooting

By the way also, sigmatel is intel high definition audio which should work with the sound kext from EDP. As for intel wifi, there are support for it at the moment. So you may want to get a supported broadcom wifi card.

Let me know how it goes.

    Cheers!

  4. Dear jmo,

One of our resident AMD expert may be able to help you on the issues you having with you AMD rig.

As for Windows 7 boot issues, try to have a look at this which may be helpful : http://www.osxlatitude.com/repairing-windows-7-boot-tripple-boot-osx-windows-7-ubuntu/

As for the installation cd, would it be easier to transfer it to a usb as per our guide here? : http://www.osxlatitude.com/creating-a-usb-pen-with-osx-installation-2/

    Cheers!

  5. Dear Mr. A,

I did try and install final cut pro on my D630 Intel GMA X3100 and it ran fine. So your Nvidia will perform much better than mine.

Our method is created so that anyone without much programming or command line experience can use to install os x.

You can remove kexts by just deleting. You can install kext by just copying it but after that you need to repair permissions with myfix. The other option is to use software like Kext Helper, Kext Wizard, etc. that have gui for that.

If you chose the right model from EDP, it should install the correct Extra for your model. You can try different kext for mouse / keyboard among others in the EDP selection menu. Try different ones if the one you select before does not work properly.

After running EDP, make sure you run myfix full mode.

    Cheers!

  6. Hi Mr. A,

You need to install EDP to get all those items you mentioned working.

After you've got the KP after installing EDP, did you tried to boot with mach_kernel arch=i386 -v -f to see what is causing the KP?

If we can home in on the kext that is causing the KP, we can remedy or remove it while leaving others in tact.

As for your cpu speed, you can disable dynamic acceleration in bios for it to show the correct cpu speed.

If you would like to install individual kext from the EDP, you can copy it and repair permission manually or use gui app like kext helper, kext wized, etc.

    Cheers!

  7. Hi xpeace,

I don't think its a myhack issue. Did you managed to enter the installer? Or you have already installed and having boot issue? What os x version are you at?

    Cheers!

  8. Dear xpeace,

For your information, myHack 3.1 is compatible with EDP. You just need to make sure that you run full myfix after running EDP or installing bootpack. By the way, at which stage does os x fails to boot for you D630?

    Cheers!

  9. Dear ufuk,

If you already have a chameleon boot cd, try to boot chameleon with "mach_kernel arch=i386 -v -f" and see if it will enter installer. Otherwise, let me know where it gets stuck.

If it gets stuck, you will probably need our Extra bootpack for your D630 (i.e. dsdt.aml and basic kexts) from our website. However, it needs to be copied to the boot cd with may not be possible because its read-only unless you are able to modify its image before you burn. That why you'll need to create a boot usb so that you can copy the Extra bootpack files into it.

    Cheers!

  10. Hi ufuk,

You can try to make a chameleon boot usb from Windows. I googled quickly and found one example site on this: http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,2143.0.html. Haven't tried it myself but just wanted to give you an idea. Your need to copy the Extra bootpack to the usb. Once the boot usb is working, you can use it to boot the os x sl install dvd. Try it out and let us know how it went.

    Cheers!
