esmith1966
The bootpack of the 6530 HD400 only does not seem to disable the nvidia graphics card.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted October 10, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 10, 2017 That's because it's for system with HD 4000 only, not for system with HD 4000 + NVS5200m.
esmith1966
Jake... this set of .aml files does not seem to work... Will try again... Others are having same issue of needed the nvidia card not active "at all" in dsdt As if the graphics card is not even in the system...
esmith1966
TESTING again... only used your aml files... Did not use your kext or config.sys files... Attempting High Sierra install now... Direct upgrade using : /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/startosinstall --converttoapfs NO
esmith1966
Jake : Tried the E6530_Optimus.zip files back and forth... Used just the AHCI files from the pack because the kext contained put me into a boot-crash cycle Either way, the files did turn off the nvidia card and was able to get High Sierra to install... BUT the system was very unstable... Even using the files in Sierra, the system because unstable... a usb port was inactivated, the machine would sleep after 10-20 seconds there must be a way to get a patch just to turn the nvidia discrete graphics card OFF and have nothing else affected. Moderators Jake Lo Posted October 28, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 28, 2017 were you able to determine which kexts was the culprit?
esmith1966
This is my EFI file... It has worked with both of my E6530 laptops without issue. It probably needs to be patched to eliminate nvidia card. But seems complicated to do that. I might be over thinking this.
