andradejose
After fully testing the laptop, I do not have audio despite the audio icon being available in the task bar. Any ideas how I can fix it?
Administrators Hervé Posted March 23, 2018 Administrators Share Posted March 23, 2018 What's the difference between those listed "DeviceN" and "Built-in output" audio devices? I would have expected the latter, not the former, to support built-in speakers. What do you have listed as audio outputs? These will be listed in the "Sound effect" tab:

Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 23, 2018 Moderators Share Posted March 23, 2018 Seems you might have mixed in an old bootpack with new bootpack in your system. Follow instructions from here to debug issue gen_debug -sysprofile
andradejose
Sound is working after a restart. Weird. Not sure what made it work. Thanks for looking into it.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 23, 2018 Moderators Share Posted March 23, 2018 Make sure you have EAPDFix.kext in /Library/Extensions
andradejose
I have EAPDFix.kext in /Library/Extensions. Upon restart, sound is not working. When awakening laptop from sleep, sound will work most of the time, but sometimes Bluetooth and WiFi stop working after awakening. I have attached the requested debug file. debug_17589.zip
Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 24, 2018 Moderators Share Posted March 24, 2018 Remove the following from /L/E. Repair permission and rebuild cache AppleHDA_ALC293.kext AirportBrcmFixup.kext For EAPDFix.kext, use this app MacKextLite. Drop the kext into the left Window. On the right, use the find feature on the bottom to search for FixType. Change it to 3 if it's not already Save and repair permission & rebuild cache
andradejose
I was able to remove AppleHDA_ALC293.kext and AirportBrcmFixup.kext from /L/E. I repaired permissions and rebuilt cache. When I try to change EAPDFix.kex using MacKextLite I get an error. It was intillay set at "1". After restart, I am unable to save the changes to "3" due to the same error. Upon restart, sounds, WiFi and Bluetooth semm to be working fine. I'll do some more testing and report back any issues. Thank you.
