elprup87
Alright, so I tried Herve's guide and the initial boot process halts at the AppleKextExcludesList kext. and then black screens. This is proving rather challenging. Any ideas? HD3000, i5 2520m E6420
Moderators Jake Lo Posted June 8, 2015 Moderators Share Posted June 8, 2015 Are you installing Yosemite or Mavericks? If Yosemite, you need to remove the module FileNVRam.dylib. It will hang at the error you are referring to.
elprup87
Yosemite is what I am trying to install. I removed the module and it still black screens, but I cannot see at what point in the loading process. The e1000's load a few lines before the darkness comes.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted June 9, 2015 Moderators Share Posted June 9, 2015 Sounds like it might not be loading your graphics. Please add your systems spec to your signature, that would be helpful for us to assist. Include: CPU, ie i5-2520m GPU, ie HD3000 Display resolution, i.e. 1366x768 Chipset? elprup87
I know this may be a stupid questions, but how can I find out the chipset type? Please bear with me as I have been removed from this type of activity for some time.
Administrators Hervé Posted June 12, 2015 Administrators Share Posted June 12, 2015 Manufacturer's online support->model documentation is usually the best (ignored/forgotten) place to find system's specs. A basic Google search on "XYZ specs" usually leads good results too... For the more techies, the output of lspci -nn Terminal command or of DPCIManager tool will give good pointers.
