E6410 with nVidia NVS 3100M graphics - Mountain Lion Guide

Hey guys, I have a weird problem I haven't seen many people post about.

Have the e6410 w/ i5 and Nvidia gfx, and when I installed ML 10.8.3 my touchpad doesn't work.  The "analog" trackpad in the middle of the keyboard makes the mouse move but it is not accurate at all.  I did a myhack usb stick and used kext wizard to load the SLE extentions in the 10.8.3 zip from this post.

I really hope I can get this thing working, what a beautiful laptop I know it's going to kick ass with ML on it.

Did you try to integrate the multitouch kexts with the installer?

If not, try installing the all the voodoo kexts in \extra from e6410 ml folder on your system using kext wizard.

Doing a complete reinstall right now, starting from scratch on the directions.  One question that comes to mind, I have 2 zips from you - one ML 10.8.3 and one general ML, they have different SLE contents.  For the preinstall kext installation which SLE directory should I install on the myhack usb stick?

And to answer your question, I tried to install the newer voodoo kexts but did not work.

Another strange thing - the touchpad works in the installer.

This time around the clean install leaves me with no touchpad in the installer at all

STRANGE Experience with this machine, this time after the install completed and rebooted, touchpad works great.  Will return if I have more issues, most likely when my dell 1510 arrives xD  (glad this is an easy machine to work on hardware wise)

Finished the full install and post install and now everything is working smoothly, this reply is from the latitude :D

In a couple days I should get my wifi card and will install it at work, hope it is a smooth process.  Since I copied all the Extra folders from the 10.8.3 zip than the wifi card will work immediately after installing the hardware?

This thread has been extremely helpful, I appreciate ate it greatly, the lat is much easier to work on than my old eeePC.

And Patel I appreciate the quick response earlier this evening, very good to know people are still here checking in.

EDIT:  After install voodoo updates, I got the multitouch working, and trackpad shows up in preferences -- however I cannot boot without the -f flag.  Which kext do I need to delete?  the Voodoo kext in extra? or the appleps2 in S/L/E?

I was thinking about deleting the Voodoops2controller kext that went in and replacing it with the original, or if I could add -f as a default boot flag would that be a solid work around?  Im not sure what -f does entirely and not sure how kext caching works so I don't want to get in the habit of doing something that could put me in a sticky situation later.

Good to hear you got it working! As for the -f issue, a simple permissions repair using kext wizard should get you up and running without -f in a few minutes. Repair both s/l/e and extra...

And yes the WiFi card should work fine if you have the broadcom kexts in /extra...

Ok I have repaired permissions several times since last night, still does not work correctly, I temporarily added -f to the boot flag.

Only variable I can think of is that after repairing permissions I hit select restart from the apple menu, and then the computer hangs on a  white screen and I have to force the power off.  Does not happen with a regular shut down, either way doesn't fix the -f issue.

EDIT:  Also plan to run to Microcenter today and pick up a wifi USB stick, anyone recommend something cheap and small as a placeholder for the internal card?  Thanks to Microcenter's amazing return policy I just need something to last 2 weeks til I return it.  Thanks again guys, this thread has been a lifesaver.
