Administrators Bronxteck Posted October 8, 2012 Administrators Share Posted October 8, 2012 it probably is not unmounting the drive properly at sleep or shutdown causing it to corrupt the data. idk maybe check your bios settings see whats available for the 2nd hdd option? madmax
Hi Bronxteck, I have checked the bios for the module bay and there is only the option to switch it on or off. But it can well be that the laptop does not shut down correctly. Then it hangs while shutting down with the white screen. May be I should play arround with the edp stuff. Is it correct that the acpi is responsible for the shutting down part? Or is there something elese I should take care off? Thanks madmax

hackymac
Madmax, I recently put a 2nd HD bay in my M4300 too. I had been using it in a usb external drive. I had a few problems with it at first. It was able to mount, but when I tried to look at anything on it, I got the "spinning beach ball." I restarted and received an error that there was something wrong with the 2nd bay drive. I shut down completely. Pulled out the bay. Made sure all connections were tight and restarted. Haven't had a problem since. You might just want try a simple check to make sure things are seated properly and try it again. HTH!!
