piterakos
I sucessfully updated to 10.8.4 today, did an edp after the update and everything worked as intended, except for the wifi. After some digging i found out that apple stopped supporting broadcom 4311 natively in 10.8.4 and thus the problem i have.
Administrators Hervé Posted June 10, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 10, 2013 I sucessfully updated to 10.8.4 today, did an edp after the update and everything worked as intended, except for the wifi. After some digging i found out that apple stopped supporting broadcom 4311 natively in 10.8.4 and thus the problem i have. Hmm, not exactly... Earlier today, I ran some tests and found that a DW1390 would work perfectly under all network conditions with 10.8.4 whereas a DW1395 would not support AES encryption (trying to connect led to "Connection times out" error message). Bronxteck experienced same problem with a DW1395. So: DW1390 is based on BCM4311 chip (Ven id-Dev id: 14e4-4311) -> Ok in 10.8.4 DW1490 is based on BCM4311 chip (Ven id-Dev id: 14e4-4312) -> Ok in 10.8.4 DW1395 is based on BCM4312 chip (Ven id-Dev id: 14e4-4315) -> NOk in 10.8.4 (only clear wifi or WEP wifi) Maybe rebranding the cards would fix the issues... piterakos
herve thats exactly the problem i'm facing. Thinking about replacing it with an apple airport extreme. when you say rebranding you mean flashing a different firmware on the card?
Administrators Hervé Posted June 11, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 11, 2013 I mean flashing the dev id, if that is feasible...
daspazz
OK so Im on 10.8 and want to upgrade my daughters D830 to 10.8.3. Do I need to run the EDP first and then the 10.8.3 combo update? Or can I update and then run EDP once its fixed (Currently the installer just blanks my /Extra directory and then fails). I have an open issue that was close (#6) and a new open issue (#7). Still waiting for a new EDP to test. Was requested to test a new one but the one for download is 3-4 days old.
piterakos
what i've done is: 1) Install 10.8 using a specific bootpack for the d830 2) Boot normally and update to 10.8.3 (or 4 if u want) using combo update 3) Install and run EDP for D830. optional 4) i did some extra tweaking using a newer version of fakesmc+smbios to boost performance.
Administrators Hervé Posted June 22, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 22, 2013 That is indeed a good and valid process for a D830 nVidia with ML. I'll add a 5th one: - AFTER EDP system build: remove AppleACPIPlatform from /S/L/E and re-run myFix (full); that fixes the cache issue and takes care of the slow shutdown/restart.
daspazz
Thats why I love this site. You guys have the knowledge AND the Power! Will follow your suggestions and move up to 10.8.3. Just hoping EDP gets fixed before Tuesday so I can pass this humble little D830 back to my daughter. Then after first of the month I will order a T9300 and upgrade the little beast for her. Found one on ebay for 43 bux US shipped! Update took even thought it reported failure post completion! Now I just need EDP!
