Dan_Marshall Posted January 21, 2014 Share Posted January 21, 2014 Hi Hervé, Tried the New DSDT but no internet on reboot unfortunately Steps I took: - Removed old DSDT to desktop - Inserted new DSDT in /Extra - Ran myFix full - Reboot The machine rebooted fine but no traffic going in or out (I use iStat) and also confirmed with the Ethernet device showing unplugged in System Prefs / Network. I removed the old device and tried to add new but no go. It did show up as 'Ethernet' and not Ethernet Adaptor en0 if that is any help... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Administrators Hervé Posted January 21, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 21, 2014 You don't need to run myFix to use a DSDT file, just test any new file with Chameleon option DSDT=/. Is the Ethernet working at all? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dan_Marshall Posted January 21, 2014 Share Posted January 21, 2014 Hi Hervé, Done as you advised and rebooted fine with internet this time using your DSDT: ifconfig output: Home-Servers-Mac-Pro$ ifconfiglo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384 options=3<RXCSUM,TXCSUM> inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 gif0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280stf0: flags=0<> mtu 1280en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 options=3<RXCSUM,TXCSUM> ether 00:19:b9:16:fb:f1 inet6 fe80::219:b9ff:fe16:fbf1%en0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4 inet 192.168.0.47 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.0.255 media: autoselect (100baseTX <full-duplex>) status: activeHome-Servers-Mac-Pro$ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Administrators Hervé Posted January 21, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 21, 2014 So, you're good? I guess you are using BCM5722D kext for your Broadcom Ethernet, right? Which version is it? 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dan_Marshall Posted January 21, 2014 Share Posted January 21, 2014 Also to confirm - I removed the device properties from the Chameleon boot.plist file and boots fine with working internet on 'Ethernet' Chameleon boot.plist file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>DSDT</key> <string>/Extra/DSDT.aml</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>ForceHPET</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GenerateCStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GeneratePStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>npci=0x2000 darkwake=0</string> <key>SMBIOS</key> <string>/Extra/smbios.plist</string> <key>SystemType</key> <string>1</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>LoginToLion</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>2</string> <key>USBBusFix</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>Yes</string> </dict> </plist> No device properties at the end like the original before the LAN patch on the DSDT! Hervé you rock mate - many many thanks!!! Oh and the BCM5722D kext is version 2.3.5 (in my extra folder a few posts back) Dan Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Administrators Hervé Posted January 21, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 21, 2014 Ok, good, that's the one to use (at least with ML or Mav). You're all set then! You can now rename the patched DSDT file into dsdt.aml and place that in /Extra to reboot normally without the manual Chameleon option. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dan_Marshall Posted January 21, 2014 Share Posted January 21, 2014 Thanks again mate - hopefully these posts will help others in the future for their Dell Optiplex 745. Love this Forum!! Regards, Dan 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
sintoni Posted March 21, 2014 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Hi from Italy. First of all, many thanks for the tutorial: now I have two 745s running 10.9.2 Mavericks. Everything works pretty fine, yet I have a strange behaviour coming from BIOS messages at boot: 'Performing automatic IDE configuration… [snip]Floppy diskette seek failureInvalid configuration information - Please run SETUP programStrike F1 to continue, F2 to run the setup utility'. Basically, the BIOS can't keep the settings (Floppy - internal and SATA - legacy) needed. Each time I power a 745 off, I have to enter the bios and select the correct settings: it's really a pain in the neck! The rough workaround I was able to guess was to disable KernelCache, so that the PC can boot by pressing F1 to continue and avoid to enter the BIOS (I'm lazy or, as you like it, I'm a time-saver ). Yet, I'd like to know if there's something more useful to do.BTW, both machines (DT and SFF) have a E6420 CPU, 4 GB Ram, SSD disk. Save for the form factor, they look like twins. The BIOS is 2.6.6 for both. I can say it's not a matter of capacitors or battery (both are new), because the boot with a Windows XP disk is clean and the settings are correctly stored. Same thing for a Linux installation on another disk.TIA for your kind help.Grazie Guido Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Administrators Bronxteck Posted March 21, 2014 Administrators Share Posted March 21, 2014 sounds like a cmos reset are you using the Patched_10.7_AppleRTC supplied by the generic myhack extra? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
sintoni Posted March 21, 2014 Share Posted March 21, 2014 sounds like a cmos reset are you using the Patched_10.7_AppleRTC supplied by the generic myhack extra? Thank you for your kind reply. I'm using Dan's kexts, which I downloaded from this thread. Now I've added EliottForceLegacyRTC.kext and sounds good. I got it from a kext packet I found here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/292748-guide-mavericks-109x-dell-optiplex-780-760/ (Sorry if crossposting: I don't know if it's allowed here. In case, remove. TY) BTW I must say that installing ML on 755s is pretty easy in comparison with Mavericks on 745s Cheers, Guido Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
