Administrators Bronxteck Posted November 3, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 3, 2016 I think Sierra has issues with some logitec keyboards and mice if so be the case.
bill10
It is probably not the keyboard and mouse. Yesterday for two times I was able to click continue and entered disk utility. However, it got stuck when I chose the disk format. So I restarted and I couldn't click on things anymore. Nothing was modified between the tries. I didn't even pull out the usb drive. Today I am stuck at the apple logo with progress bar again and can't even get into the install menu. It is like the machine got its own mood. I should probably give up this project. What do you think?
Administrators Bronxteck Posted November 3, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 3, 2016 are you plugged into usb2 ports or usb3 ports? if you have the option in bios disable usb3 for now. unless there is a bios update that might address usb issues but i seem to be having issues with dells site regarding bios versions available. bill10
It is usb 2 and usb3 is disabled. I gave up on Sierra and burnt a El Capitan drive. I can get through the installer and everything. But it seems that I am stuck at the final installing phase. It has been an hour now.
bill10
okay, it has been 5 hours and it is still like that. I am going to kill it and restart
Administrators Bronxteck Posted November 4, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 4, 2016 are you using the same usb stick for both installs? I'm wondering if it is having issues with it. maybe the data is corrupting on it. your usb and ports worked fine in windows right?
bill10
Yes, but now I am trying a different usb stick in a different port. It is stuck at the following screen. I think I am going to give it a couple of hours today, and check it back tomorrow. Thank you for your help
Administrators Hervé Posted November 4, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 4, 2016 You don't need to give it any more than a few minutes for the installer to begin copying the files. In your case, it's clearly not happening.
bill10
When I checked it today, it seems that it restarted and finished copying files. Then I rebooted from the hard drive partition where it is installed, and, no surprise, stuck again at a different place. I am going to google it but if you have any idea, please let me know. Thank you.
