  1. Under the current setup, update to 10.8.2 appears to cause a KP on reboot (I've tested this on two separate hard drives) with the incompatability relating to the VooDooHDA 2.7.4 kext. I get the installed failed error (as do many), and with subsequent restarts, the KP. My update notification included both the 10.8.2ML update and the iTunes update and I tried installing the ML update both together with the iTunes update and separately, and got KP's with both attempts. I will be trying to update prior to installation of the VooDooHDA.kext to see if that works and try to resolve the Audio issue afterwards if it does. I suggest holding off on the install of this update until someone is able to get past this issue.
  2. You can create a bootable DOS USB to which you download the BIOS flash and use that. When you do that, you are booting into a DOS enviroment. Download and instructions can be found at: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
  3. Pictures of "Sleep" on the HP. And yes, Bronxteck, it is a 4500 (brain fart on my part). Also, after a reread of the graphics requirements, attempting to utilize a modification with ML on older laptops is impractical.
  4. After install, running my fix and reinstall Chameleon, I'm getting the cursor frozen in the top left corner. If I boot with either -x or -f flags, it responds normally, but I would prefer to find the problematic kext. Neither cpus=1 or tscsync.kext helped with that issue. When you say sleep is messed up with yours, do you mean, never truely sleeping, just white screen? That's what I'm getting with this one. Sorry, I haven't tried the Graphics kext yet as my daughter just got home from work with cars issues. Her VW's EPC light is on and the vehicle is in "Limp Mode" - Oh joy!
  5. My mistake, I was looking at the DC7800 guide (which has the 3100) as that forum indicated the guide they wrote for the DC7800 was compatible despite the different chipsets. I didn't try the install method I PM'd you, but tried utilizing kexts for those graphics to see if I could get QE/CI going (no luck with that yet, probably have to add a dedicated card, wishing I had gone with the CMT for the larger PSU). Like I said, the sleep issue pertains to me also, I've made several trips to Florida to clean/repair my Mom's house, get it on the market and otherwise settle her estate. I've also had my hand's in a friends MacPro 1,1, seeing about getting ML on the old 32 bit system (there's a guide on doing so). It requires two drives, but may be possible with one, so I'm looking into that for possible laptop use.
  6. I'm trying on a DC7900 SFF with a 3.0GHz but presently stock graphics (Intel HD3000). I tried using an install used by Mosslack over on Google Groups, but with no success. Used my hack, but have had to make multiple mods (frozen cursor, audio, ethernet). Sleep remains the biggest mess and chameleon isn't playing nice with this install. The sleep issue pertains to both me and the machine.
  7. Hopefully, 10.8.2 will be as smooth as it's predecessor. Sorry, I've been working on Installing ML on an HP desktop and on an early MacBook Pro (1,1 32 bit) (also hoping to be able to do the same for 32 bit Hackintosh's), as the E6400/E6500 seems to be at a pretty good operational level.
  8. This is something I MIGHT consider, then immediately forget. Likely to cause more problems than it might cure , like the death of a good board. Google "Flash BIOS with another model"
  9. I gave that and a corrupt image some thought, but he's tried a couple of USB's, so that seemed less likely, unless it's a bad port.
  10. The issues I see appear to be permission problems. Have you tried repairing permissions on your Installer, using the machine you created it with? Another method to repair permissions on the Installer (offered by Conti) can be found at: http://myhack.sojugarden.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=53
  11. It doesn't affect performance, it's a cosmetic issue. There is a fix that escapes me at the moment, I have to run out for a few hours, will check on it for you and respond unless someone beats me to it.
  12. My apologies, I am guilty of both misunderstanding your issue and poorly communicating what I was trying to say. Of course OSx can be installed on a MBR disk. If not you wouldn't be able to create the My Hack installer on a MBR drive. Most people doing a dual boot are doing a fresh install and creat the OSx partition first. Your case, with adding an OSx partition to a Windows disk is different. I have not dealt with this before, but I believe that since Windows makes itself a proprietary system, it makes OSx partition inactive and the MBR needs to be repaired (not modified, as I indicated earlier) and allow the OSx partition to become active to install it. I'm not sure if the MBR repair instructions on the My Hack site will allow for this (It's in a section labeled Dual Booting Demystified), but you can try, and if no joy post to the forum for a solution. Search Google: Dual Booting Demystified
  13. I didn't realize you had remade your bootstick. Since WiFi, Bluetooth AND Dynamic Acceleration MAY affect your install, shut off only those three in BIOS (for now). At this time don't worry about the kext, leave it there. It is better to get OSx installed and worry about problems later. The video that shows it searching for the WiFi device indicates you are making it to the installer and the hang may be because of Dynamic Acceleration being enabled.
  14. From the video, it appeared you used the erase tab instead of the partition tab, my mistake. Have you tried using the installer in a different USB port, it may make a difference. One other quick question: if you replaced the IO80211Family.kext on the bootstick, did you run a My Fix (full) on it before using the installer?
  15. You should use the partition tab, then under Partition table, use 1 partition if just installing OSx (more if dual or tri booting), then give your drive a name, in format, choose Mac OS Extended (journaled), go to options and choose GUID, then choose apply, then partition. You can then install.
  16. It's hard to tell from that video, but it is not unusual for the partitioning to take 4 - 5 minutes. If that was at normal speed, you need to wait. Sometimes the blue progress bar will appear to stall, but it is actually working. Try again, allowing a while longer for partitioning. By the way, that image was searching for Bluetooth devices. I thought you had disabled bluetooth.
  17. Outstanding job on condensing this and I feel in no way slighted. The other post was a work in progress and an effort to show how things are accomplished collectively as well as an how-to opportunity to demonstrate how to edit kexts, etc. for members who were not familiar with how to do so. I feel I learned from that opportunity and I Thank You for your contributions to it. When I get the time I will slap a spare HDD in my E6500 and confirm this works for those also.
  18. I do not use Sleepenabler.kext, I just use sleep to RAM, since I am often on multiple computers during the day. My time has been occupied recently by trying to hack an AMD Gateway desktop from a few years back
  19. Thank You for letting us know, details on updates are always appreciated. Always a good idea to repair permissions after an update, especially one for the OS. Twinflyer, I also ran the 10.8.1 update, with exactly the same result, error message, rebooted to installed update. Even reran software update to see "No Updates Available". I seem to remember the first page of "About This Mac" showing the update (as in 10.8.1), but is shows "Startup Disk 10.8" and the second page shows 10.8.1. Now let's see if Battery Life really is improved. Also, to respond to your earlier question, I too get the same permission repair each time I run it. This time (after the update), was no different - same repair as yours.
  20. Were you ever able to get your graphics working properly in ML? If not, I'd like to help.
  21. Again, this post was intended for another member. Refer to post #17. Osx can't be installed on an MBR partition unless it is modified. I think you confused that the installer can be created on either a GUID or MBR partition, not that you can use the installer to install on one. I believe you need to utilize the my hack tools fdisk440 to be able to repair theMBR install you made in order to accomodate OSx, something which works best with OSx being installed first.
  22. Although there is not a Mac internal way, there is a program (untested by Me) that might help. Search for: KeyRemap4MacBook It supposedly will allow remapping of keys
  23. You need to create the installer with the IO80211Family.kext, install it, then replace that kext with an earlier version here: http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=921&act=down&actionhash=guest or go into the install stick and replace the kext prior to installation.
  24. Please read the link to see how to try to install OSx to an MBR partition (and the comments added to see if you want to try this method). The second response was for a different member (indicated in the quote box of my post)
  25. Did you go into BIOS and shut off Dynamic Acceleration, WiFi and Bluetooth and use AHCI for Hard Drive setting? After install, you can turn DA, WiFi & BT back on.
