  1. Will the new install use myHack again? Will the zip files for the Mountain Lion install still work? my Hack will now be the only utility used, and a new zip file (based on the e6410 ML zip) will be used...
  2. What you want to do is add another HDD. Personally, I have a Crucial m4 128gb holding OSX, and a 500gb holding linux, windows 7, and downloads from OSX. You can buy a caddy for the e6410 optical drive for under 20$ on ebay. EDIT: You may also want to keep the company windows drive in the optical bay if you think you are going to use the OSX side more. I am not sure if there is a speed difference, although I hope the SATA controllers are the same for CD / HDD +1 if you don't want to partition
  3. I get what you're saying now Before you do anything, you should combine the recovery and system partitions ( if you have rights) on one single partition. Then, you can use a tool like minitool partition wizard to shrink the first partition, and then install os x to the second one. Just make sure when you make the installation drive with my hack that you say yes to mbr patching. When you install, use disk utility to format the second partition. After this, you should have a working dual boot! P.S. if you want to try this, and want the latest and greatest, wait for my mavericks guide. Hopefully I'll post it at around 5 pm edt...
  4. Yes, it is possible to get a dual boot setup working on the E6410, however it may require a re-install of Windows to get it right. Basically, when you reach the step where you create the partitions in the installer, you'd create 2 partitions (with their own sizes, sized however you see fit) and then install OS X to the second partition (so that in the future, if you want to wipe OS X out and turn it into a Windows-only machine, you can simply delete the last partition and make the Windows one bigger ) . After installing OS X, you'd install Windows to the first partition, boot using the OS X installation drive, and then reinstall Chameleon from myHack. If this was too complicated for you, just let me know. I'll make a step-by-step later. I'm short on time right now, so I'm just trying to give you a general overview of what happens.
  5. So far, from what I can tell from my testing, it does support everything we have gotten working so far. As for what's not working at the moment (SD Card reader & Sleep), I hope to do more testing over the weekend. Like I said before, I know everyone's anxious, but I will try and post the guide to installing 10.9 ASAP. The good news is that it should be a bit easier and more straightforward than the Mountain Lion install .
  6. I have a working installation method that I plan on posting tomorrow...
  7. Follow the "REBOOTED" instructions from the 6/4/2013 edit (basically, replace the two kexts on the hard drive with the ones on the installation USB)...
  8. Just for kicks and giggles, try using the 10.8.4 folder with the installer... I would start fresh too, btw, since you've changed the kexts around. Format the flash drive first, and then try making the installer with the 10.8.4 folder.
  9. It might be me, but this machine looks a lot different than my 6410... Look at the SD Card reader placement, and the VGA port on the right-hand side...also, the volume buttons are to the right of the keyboard. Maybe the pictures are just inacurate?
  10. What do you mean by "it never finishes"? Does it end with an error (Installation failed)?
  11. Try removing the two Apple Intel Kexts (I'd totally get the names, but I'm strapped for time; Sorry! They're mentioned in a few places. Check the first post and do a quick search)...
  12. If by built on reboot step you mean the restart button at the end of the install, the easiest way around that is just not to click out until you've replaced all the kexts! One issue I did notice with this, however, is that on some machines, after the installation completes, the machine gets insanely slow, so if you open the finder windows prior to installing the combo update, you can shave of a few minutes of the install .
  13. Did you try updating to chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) 2.1.1?
  14. Try turning off your Wi-Fi (using the switch on the right hand side) and boring up that way...
  15. Unfortunately, at the moment, there is nothing that I know about that will speed up the shutdown/restart process; even on an actual Mac it's quite lengthy! As for the power button issue, I am confident that if/when we figure out how to get Sleep working, this should be solved too.
  16. I agree with BigBudz here... On some Hackintoshes I've built, the installer wouldn't even boot until I either ran a "chkdisk" on the Windows side, swap in a new new drive or just completely formatted the existing drive so Windows no longer existed! Whichever route you go, I would also suggest you make a backup. It can't hurt, even if nothing goes wrong.
  17. I don't want you to resort to distros either What takes the longest to load during boot (you can check it in verbose mode)
  18. Sometimes I find a simple reseating of the drive to work quite effectively ...
  19. You should add only the two E6410 ML (the plain old ML and the 10.8.4 versions) to the flash drive. Follow coldsun's advice on using the plain old ML version to create the installer with myHack, and then the 10.8.4 version for post-installation: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1695-e6410-mountain-lion-guide/page-18&do=findComment&comment=20943 EDIT: I forgot to mention, the AppleAHCIPort.kext & IOAHCIFamily.kext are already included in the 10.8.4 version of the ML zip. I only posted those two up there for those that have ALREADY installed...
  20. Hey mac76, The trackpad kexts included in this install guide are newer than the ones from 10.7.X. Because they are newer, and compiled mostly for Mountain Lion/64-bit OS X, they most likely will not work for you, because (as far as I remember; I may be thinking of another machine) E6410s had to boot with "arch=i386", or the 32-bit version of OS X Lion, which is no longer available in Mountain Lion. The guide should work fine with a 10.8.X installer.
  21. Hello bnplz, Sorry for not being completely clear on the guide... It definitely gets confusing with the edits, which is why I tried to link to coldsun's post in Step 39. This and the latest "Edit" that applies to you, which is 6/4/2013, is the only part that gets added to the tutorial. As for the BIOS options, AHCI should be the only option that needs to be set. Basically, if you're using the 10.8.5 installer, you should be able to follow the guide as if installing 10.8.4.
  22. Hahaha....If it takes longer than 20 mins, I always quit it, reboot, and hope for the best EDIT: And then post back!
  23. For comparison's sake, what sort of boot times were you getting with TRIM on vs TRIM off?
