  1. Yes indeed Ahhh my sd card reader is not working again. Wonder if it still had the Voodoo stil in memory. Going to try to run that app without the patch like you suggested. Ill let you know what I find.
  2. Ok never mind guys. My sdcard is the problem. I just tried it with another and it works perfectly. I should have done that from the beginning. All ok my friends. Thank you so much for all the help. I greatly appreciate it.
  3. Ok guys thanks. Lucky I got a DSDT without the patch already saved. Ok I'll let you guys know the outcome. How are you guys finding the update? Its great that the volume buttoms work again.
  4. Hi Herve, I did just cut and paste in into my DSDT with macIASL but I selected patch and then pasted it. Compiled and no errors. Ok I will upload here. Also just took the update 10.12.1 mute and volume works again No changes needed at all. Everything is up no reinstalling kexts or anything like that. DSDT.aml.zip
  5. Hmmm Ok so I tried your suggestios Herve but still nothing. Not sure maybe my DSDT is incorrect? Can I PM it to you so that you can take a quick peek at it? Or can I just upload here?
  6. Ohhhhh I misunderstood. Im suppose to use the patch as is? I put in my vendor and device id and also didn't rebuild cache either. Ok thx Herve. I just saw 10.12.1 update is here too. More fiddling tomorrow for sure
  7. Unfortunately even after changing device id's and vendor id's the reader will still not recognize the card. So I guess I will just go back to the Voodoo as it worked well enough. Or is there something else I could try?
  8. Wow thats it? No editing any info.plist in any kext? Ok I will give it a shot then. Thanks Jake Lo.
  9. Hi guys, I just had one more issue that I hope I can resolve. I'm using the VoodooSDHX kext for the card reader but I have my Vendor ID and Device ID and its a Micro SD Host Controller. Would it be possible to patch my DSDT to get the official Apple SD card reader kext working? I found this patch by Jake Lo, #Patch for O2Micro SD Card Reader into device label PXSX parent_label RP05 insert begin Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized)\n {\n If (LEqual (Arg2, Zero)) { Return (Buffer() { 0x03 } ) }\n Return (Package()\n {\n "AAPL,slot-name",\n "Built-in",\n "device-type", Buffer() { "Media Controller" },\n "model", Buffer() { "O2 Micro SD Card Reader" },\n "compatible", Buffer() { "pci14e4,16bc" },\n })\n }\n end; If I add this to my DSDT and obviously change the ID's to the model I have, would that be enough. Or would I also have to modify the AppleSDHX kext? (I think thats the name of it, but I may have written it wrong. The reason I'm trying to fix this is that if my computer sleeps the screen stays black and I have to reboot, and I read thats most likely the VoodooSDHX kext that is responsible.
  10. Thanks Herve. I've decided to just leave it as is. I'm quite happy with how it is right now. Hopefully once the update comes out someone will come up with a fix and my my brightness keys do work so i'm good to go. Thank you for all your help and jake lo and the others too. Next need to try to update my Dell 3542 so back to reading. That one is going to be more challenging I believe.
  11. Oh ok thanks Herve And to Jake Lo and others I have found a fix to the ~ character problem. When I selects Standard English I get euro keyboard when I select euro I get the Standard English. Using VoodooPS2Controller Release 4 RC4. Maybe the Doc reversed it No biggy though, I have no problem selecting euro.
  12. the tilde character does that represent the root of my drive? Because if so, there is nothing there. Speaking of the tilde character, since I just tried to type it when I do I get this § not the tilde? I copied my trackpad preference from El Capitan, do you think that is the issue. I've just upgraded my internal and I get the same thing. Thanks Jake Lo
  13. Hi thanks Jake Lo, is this for the sound, up, down and mute keys? Because its not a big deal. The brightness keys were more important and they already work, I don't know how, but they do. I'm pretty certain it is because of ACPIBacklight.kext in my clover "other" kext folder. Hmmm says Karabiner Elements is not yet supported in Sierra? Ok I will try it anyways I found the json file. Thanks again Jake Lo. And great to know that 10.12.1 may have a permanent fix for everything P.s. Stupid question but how do I actually use the modified .json file? I have edited it to my liking and saved it but where would i put it so its the default when i opne up the program? Or does it not work that way?
  14. Alright I got the a new Vanilla AppleHDA.kext and that was one of the problems. The other issue was with the SSDT.aml Believe I fixed that too. So Im up and testing on my external. Have sound now, brightness keys work and Trackpad works pretty smoothly as well. Thanks guys for all your help. Now I'm going to test to make sure my apps work over the next few days and if they do I will make a backup and then install on my internal. Only thing not working right now are the sound keys but thats no big deal.
  15. Ok so I tried Jake Lo's method first. I added the Layout 12 patch from MacISL from rehab mans patches. I then copied all the patches from Jake Lo's config included in the boot back. Then added the new Sierra Patch and confirmed it is there with the comment Sierra. Finally installed the AppleHDAIDT kext in the bootpack into /L/E and ran the fix permissions commands suggested by Herve. Got error AppleHDA controller when I ran that. Not sure why or if that is the problem but I still cannot get audio. Trackpad is fantastic though it doesn't show in the preference pane but I;ve been reading that you need to recopy then one from 10.11.6 into the PreferencePane folder inside /S/L/E One last note, I tried to boot my E6420 with the config file from Jake Lo's bootpack but after everything the white Apple bar finishes loading all I get is a black screen, which is why I just copied the patches over to my older config I have been using in El Capitan. Also get the same problem if I install the IOAHCISerialATAPI_Injector.kext from the bootpack. So I just reinstalled the one that I was using with El Capitan. Also worth noting, my brightness keys are actually working Is it because I'm still using the IOAHCISerialATAPI_Injector.kext from EL Capitan? I thought the keys were not working or has the person (sorry can't remember this programmers name, but I thank him for the great effort he has put in to fixing the VoodooPS2Controller) updated them in the newer version? Thanks guys. This has been quite tricky but I'm learning and reading a lot. Hopefully soon I can get the sound to work. Update**** I just realized I have the ACPIBacklight.kext in my kext folder in Clover. I know its not included in Jake Lo's bootpack but I'm wondering if that is the reason why the brightness keys are working for me. Update number two. Here is the error code I get when I try to repair permissions. rebuilding //System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel kxld[com.apple.driver.AppleHDAController]: The following symbols are unresolved for this kext: kxld[com.apple.driver.AppleHDAController]: _gAudioStackDebugFlags Link failed (error code 5). Prelink failed for com.apple.driver.AppleHDAController; omitting from prelinked kernel. kernalcacheID =******************* symlink("/System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel", "/System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache") failed 17 (File exists) <createPrelinkedKernel 2795> It also gave me a Kernelcached ID but I wasn't sure if that was safe to post or not so I ommitted it Maybe I lost my Vanilla AppleHDA kext? I might have installed a non Vanilla, but I didn't remember and I actually reinstalled the OS again but maybe it didn't overwrite it the one I had in my Extensions folder? I just can't remember if I did something to the orginal.
  16. thanks jake lo. I set the layout ID to 12 in my DSDT. I have also downloaded your boot pack. Ok I'll add that last patch with clover config. Thanks to you and everyone else for helping. Hopefuly in a bit I'll have sound up and running.
  17. Ok thanks guys. I'll see if I can remember how to patch my AppleHDA from Sierra. I patched my own before, its been a while so I have to re-read how to do it. Or just add the patch with clover config and install the AppleHDAIDT kext into S/L/E Again thanks for the help guys.
  18. Worked like a charm Jake Lo Now if I could only figure out how to get the audio working. I know I need to add the patch with Clover Config, but what I don't know is if the two kexts (AppleHDA and AppleHDAIDT) need any tweaks done to them too and also where to install them. The way I had it in El Capitan was I had them both installed in my EFI/Clover/Kexts/Other and then AppleHDA was also installed into S/L/E overwriting the Vanilla version. I never had to install the AppleHDAIDT to S/L/E Bit puzzled. Going to keep testing.
  19. Oh, I didn't even think about that. Ok thanks Jake Lo I will give that a try for sure. Thanks my friend.
  20. Hi guys, I have actually updated to the newest Clover on my internal drive I think I didn't explain myself properly, thats how I finished the Sierra Installation on the External Drive The problem is though, everytime I want to test Sierra I need to go back in to my internal Clover EFI/CLOVER/Kexts and replace the VoodooPS2Controller.kext and the newer Kext that stops kernel panic, doesn't work well at all in either El Capitan.
  21. Hi Jake Lo thanks for your response, I figured out why I couldn't see it. First, Herve was correct, I can only use one USB slot during the boot up, which is why I could never get it to work while booting from a USB stick Plus the external drive. Second, my EFI drive wasn't getting updated by clover. It was just installing an EFI folder in the root of the mac osx, instead of my EFI partition. Fixed that though by "showing all files" then copying the EFI folder and then mounting my EFI partition and pasted it there. Now I finally have the latest 3811 Clover running internally. Before I still had 3330. Anyhow after that, I attached just my external and there was the Boot macOS Sierra but I still had to get rid of the VoodooPS2 controller to avoid kernal panic. So I just removed it, installed, fooled around a bit and then added the kext back in for El Capitan. It would be much easier if I could run more two usb ports, that way I could just use my stick EFI for testing and loading Sierra and my internal for EL Capo. My config though definitely needs to be updated. I'm still using the one from Yosemite. Haven't updated it in a long time. Don't really know how to do it correctly.
  22. Ok thanks Herve and Bronxtech, I thought those changes were for USB 3.0? My E6420 only has USB 2.0 ports and they all work in El Capitan when I insert USB's into the ports. I will try Bronxtech's suggestion first I guess since its easier to do. Thanks guys.
  23. Hi guys, just wondering is it possible to run macOS Sierra from an external drive. I can get it to install but once it reboots to the Clover screen my external drive doesn't show up to allow me to complete the second phase of the installation. It does work though if I run it on my internal drive. I had toomany issues and went back to El Capitan for the internal but I want to keep testing Sierra on an external source. I've always been able to do this in the past with Yosemite and El Capitan. I even tried booting with the lastest Clover via usb stick, clover loads but USB External drive not shown on Clover boot screen. No Idea why I can't get it to work this time. Any suggestions?
