so it boots from usb but not internal drive. then the problem might be it does not see your internal volume. what type of drive is it?

as for the firmware update using cd roms. usualy you use an app that can boot from an iso or converts an iso to a usb bootable device. and boot of of that.

Hi, it just booted. Gave an error (see hidden content below). Now it's back in the restart loop again...

Did you select Opencore from under UEFI boot?

When OC picker shows up, select Reset NVRam. It'll reboot back to OpenCore picker

Here, you select MacHD to continue booting

Or try booting from USB installer and run First Aid from disk utility
