dboriack
Thanks for your responses. I have made a little progress, Got HDMI adapter cable, and am now able to get into installer. And yeah I think you nailed my big problem that is the HD 2500 from my i5-3470 After installing and using your provided Extra folder it hangs at grey screen with swirly icon. Nothing changes even with any variation of -v, -x, -f, GraphicsEnabler=No... Going to try Natit kext recommendation and then cross fingers and try the following. Also going to try making a myhack installer that has 10.8.5 on it as it's needed for HD 2500 drivers, or so the little bit of research I've done has shown me that. But new problem arrises directions says to change vram in bios to 32mb from 64mb but of course damn Dell didn't provide that option in the Bios. Can I put the natit kext into the Extra folder that was provided here when creating an installer and if so should I pull anything out? Thank you all for your time so far, and despite the problems I am loving the challenge and remain determined.
Administrators Bronxteck Posted October 22, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 22, 2013 yeah drop natit into extra and run a myfix... well that's if your using myhack. and yeah that link pretty much will not work. main reason being we can not set the video ram.... if you dont make the intel graphics main in bios it loads 16mb if it's on or in auto i think it loads 128mb. yeshu1984
I downloaded OSX Mavericks last night and successfully prepared a USB install stick using myhack 3.2. To be honest, I didn't quite understand step 4 (when it prompts, ask it to use own Extra). Anyway, I plugged in the myhack OSX installer flash drive and successfully booted from it. However, it is getting stuck at the 2nd screen (the screen with the apple logo comes and disappears - so I think everything until this step is okay). I am stuck at this gray screen with the spinning beachball/pinwhell. Any thoughts or suggestions? By the way, in BIOS, I have disabled the graphics card and am using a displayport cable to connect to the onboard graphics card to the monitor. Thanks in advance. Edit: Looks like dboriack from above is having the same problem as me. Damn this stupid HD 2500 graphics. Can anybody suggest a cheap graphics card that will help me successfully install OSX mavericks? I don't need anything fancy.
Administrators Hervé Posted October 24, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 24, 2013 If you just need cheap and cheerful, I recommend one of those nVidia GeForce GT6x0 based cards. I'm using a GT610 and it's perfect for my little needs.

yeshu1984
Ok guys, I am seriously in need of help here and this system is driving me crazy! I bought two graphics cards (one 2GB EVGA GeForce GT 610 and the second one is an 1GB EVGA GeForce 8400GS..With both, I am encountering the same problem (spinning pinwheel) at the second screen as before. By the way, this time I tried unifail. Maybe that's why I am getting this error. I will try with myhack and see if it produces different results. Edit: Great Success! Here goes. This might be helpful for someone who has a small form factor Dell Optiplex 9010. I inserted the EVGA 8400GS, prepared myhack installer and installed as directed. Since I was using an nvidia graphics card, I had to type GraphicsEnabler=Yes, otherwise the system would go to power save mode immediately after the apple logo screen. Anyway, the installation didn't fail - it actually said succeeded. The mistake I made was to use the patch presented by the OP (I didn't need this because I wasn't using the built in Intel GPU). So, this is what I did - I plugged in the flash drive with myhackinstaller again and ran myhack from it and this time, I said install extras, but used the generic one. That's it. After that, I crossed my fingers and booted the system with GraphicsEnabler = Yes and it was a grand success! After installation, I ran multifail (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) and only installed the ethernet drivers and voodooHD 2.8.4 drivers. So, pretty much everything works well now. I can't thank you guys enough - all of you have been great and I couldn't have installed this without the helpful feedback I got from everyone here. Of course, patience is key and willingness to experiment. Over the weekend, I will try this with the 2GB GeForce GT610 card as well (since OSX Mavericks has built in support for 6xx cards). I'll post an update on that sometime on Sunday if everything goes well. One question that remains is how do I circumvent entering GraphicsEnabler=Yes every time I boot? Thanks in advance. Administrators Hervé Posted October 26, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 26, 2013 Use Chameleon Wizard to check the GraphicsEnabler box of your Chameleon boot plist!
techlogik
Anybody have success on a 9010 All-in-One Optiplex? I've tried two now, one with A07 and the other with the latest BIOS. Both are legacy, no secure boot and AHCI. The A11 will sit at the "Still waiting for the root device" screen. So I went to another machine and then get... Bios A07 will just go blank and you can't see what the verbose mode is saying/doing. I'm thinking the video is the issue at this point because it seems to be sitting at the installer window. No way to know though. Thanks
