vrao
Hello everyone, I did a standard myhack installation on my dell latitude e6400. I got through the installation fine, and I am able to boot in safe mode. However, I cannot boot without -x, so I am wondering what kexts I have to delete or install, or what boot flags I may have to put. Also, when I boot in safe mode, my graphics are stuck at a low resolution, so what kext do I need to install for graphics on the dell latitude e6400. I have intel gm45 graphics (that's what it says in about this Mac and bios.) I would much appreciate help. I used this guide: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/6123-dell-latitude-e6400-mavericks-installation/
vrao
Specs are: LATITUDE E6400 2.27GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM NVIDIA QUADRO NVS 160M 256MB (I don't know if my laptop has this because it said it had intel gm45 graphics) BIOS VERSION A34
Administrators Bronxteck Posted June 15, 2014 Administrators Share Posted June 15, 2014 well gm4500 graphics was never used by apple. it will not have full graphics acceleration. but you might be able to swap out your motherboard and heatsink for an nvidia model if it comes to that. vrao
Thank you for your response. I selected different options in kext wizard, installed the kexts and i was able to boot normally. My graphics still don't work, and i read an article that had kexts that could make it work. I installed the kexts but no luck. Any suggestions? Administrators Hervé Posted June 15, 2014 Administrators Share Posted June 15, 2014 Until you suss out which graphics you have, you'll probably never go anywhere clear. Open up Terminal and type the lspci -nn command (needs lspcidrv kext installed).
vrao
Next to graphics controller after typing in this command, it said nothing, but under display controller, it said Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated graphics
Administrators Bronxteck Posted June 15, 2014 Administrators Share Posted June 15, 2014 yeah then you most likely have gm4500 graphics. sometimes bios will also tell you what hardware you have.
