Moderators Jake Lo Posted June 17, 2016 Moderators Share Posted June 17, 2016 Go to your BIOS. Click load Default, apply. Then go change SATA Operations to AHCI, apply again. Reboot to the USB installer and see if it makes a difference.
ndog
I've reset the BIOS and tried different options including default as suggested, and the recommended ones I'm using appleps2 from http://forum.osxlati...ror/#entry61061 and installer 10.11.2 to see if it made any difference. These are the boot screens now, still rebooting
Moderators Jake Lo Posted June 17, 2016 Moderators Share Posted June 17, 2016 Try removing the DSDT and SSDT, then boot without cache
ndog
Hey Jake I am using the original EFI_Clover.zip and E5420.zip as the guide outlines After removing /Volumes/ESP/EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched/DSDT.aml it seems to be getting further with the progress bar going all the way and then frozen with the cancel symbol. The last message displayed before the cancel symbol and scrambled graphics display is Still waiting for ? device I can't read the ? part
Moderators Jake Lo Posted June 17, 2016 Moderators Share Posted June 17, 2016 It means it's no longer detecting your USB drive. Boot to the Clover GUI, hit F4. Then compress and upload the origin folder here. I'll patch the DSDT for you which is needed to get your USB detected at that stage. /Volumes/ESP/EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/Origin

ndog
Wow thats really fantastic thank you so much! I couldn't take a screen shot using Shift + Command + 4 ,maybe because the audio is not working? I must boot using the USB pen and -no-zp . The battery status is displaying, I believe it is QE/CI, youtube works and it seems quite stable. The next major step is try to get audio support kext and buy a wifi card. Thanks for your help, I'm really happy with this laptop now
