  1. @Hervé: I'm aware of the issues with UEFI boot and E6420... I gave up on this back in 2014... And had gave up again now... @Wern: Thx for the Help, but I'll keep the OS's separated by now... The fact is, in my main HDD I can't get UEFI to work... but I do have a test HDD working... There were 2 basics diferences in installation, Clean All before start and EasyUEFI after complete installation... Anyway, thx to u all for this great community!
  2. I managed to boot from UEFI's HDD partition (it's formatted FAT32)... This HDD is a small one for test purposes.... I finished my backup and will try to reproduce these results in my main larger HDD... but right now I can't get UEFI to read the EFI partition to create the UEFI boot entry... let's see what happen after Windows install... Thx
  3. Do you boot Clover from HDD? where is it installed (wich partition)?
  4. Hello... OSX and Windows installed in same HDD.... I'm still booting from pen drive but it's a huge leap!!!
  5. You're right Bronxteck it's not clear.... My bad! I'm better reading in english than writing... The Goal is dual boot OSX/Windows in one HDD... So, I will share my findings... What I do have now: - Windows Legacy; - OSX Legacy; - OSX UEFI.... Each one in separated HDDs... I was stucked in Windows UEFI installation (couldn't get rid of "Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed." error), the same issue I faced in 2014 (This is well documented in npjohnson's Mavericks installation guide, back in 14 July 2014)... The fact is, as I suspected, Intel 6 series chipsets UEFI support are buggy... I found a lot of posts with the same issue... Yesterday, finally, I could install Windows in UEFI mode... I booted Clover in legacy mode (using a pendrive) and select Windows media CD in UEFI... That´s it.... This Weekend I'll try to dual boot same HDD... Hope come back with good News... Thx
  6. Yes, I'm selecting UEFI media... Tried to set the partition manually but same result... Any ideas?
  7. Just installed Clover in a pen drive and booted UEFI thanks to Jake Lo tip.... the installation of Clover was a bit different from the guide... later I will register it... The boot time was way too fast.... But I still need to install W10 in the same disk.... Need some ideas...
  8. Formatting the EFI partition FAT16 will solve the UEFI boot issue... but not the Hybrid GPT table... I'm considering keep clover in a pendrive to boot... but how to maintain the disk pure GPT? Can I format the OSX's EFI partition GUID/Journaled and then convert the disk pure GPT to install Windows? Off-topic: I had the issue with CoreStorage (same as this topic: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/8668-e6420-eo-capitan-cant-boot-from-hdd/) and was solved reinstalling the system...
  9. I'm confused... Is that something with my process? Just formatted HDD with installation disk of MAvericks ( half disk GPT/GUID and half free space) then installed El Capitan ... didn't proceed with post installation... the EFI partition in OSX disk is formatted FAT32... I'm reading a lot... and what I've learned and experienced is that if a GPT disk have a FAT partition windows won't install considering the disk GPT Hybrid... What am i doing wrong?
  10. Thx for the reply.... If I do so... my disk will be hybrid GPT... is that correct? What about HFSPlus.efi... could address the issue without changing gpt? EDIT: I had an idea... My goal is to dual boot using UEFI... what about install windows and use its EFI partition to house clover?
  11. Hello! I have installed El Capitan in my E6420 following Jake Lo's "Dell Latitude / Inspiron El Capitan Clover Guide". (used E6220 bootpack). I still have to fine-tune installation but I have one doubt regarding Clover boot: Why I can only boot legacy? Even enabling UEFI in BIOS I can´t see UEFI boot entry after pressing F12.... My plans are to dual boot Windows 10, so partition must be GPT pure... Thx
  12. No problem.... How is it going? Mavericks' kexts still working in Yosemite?
  13. The kexts are included in the folder EFI\CLOVER\Kexts\10.9....
  14. Hi! I'm back... Hackbook Pro up to date!!! Thx for the help.... Sorry for the delay..... Ok I have some considerations: - First my config: I5-2540, 8 GB, 1 TB, Intel HD 3000, 1366x768, BIOS A21 - My config.plist was generated using pokenguyen tool named HVT. - I could't get clover to inject kexts... I did it with KextWizard.... Even installing kexts with kextwizard audio didn't work... GL! Krazy_EFI_Clover.zip
  15. Hello again... As promised I'm back to share my thoughts... I realized that EFI, at least when talking about Latitude E6420, is not yet mature... let me explain... I was succedded in booting and configuring Mavericks (more about it later) in UEFI... so I decided to format my HDD (1 TB) to start a fresh install of W8... main goal was UEFI dual boot in same HDD... To cut a long story short, I couldn't install W8 by UEFI... After coping W8 files system returned a message about not being able to save something... After a lot of reading the problem was clear, W8 installation could not write NVRAM for some reason... The weird fact is that I had a W8 UEFI installation... but in the learning process I deleted a "Windows boot manager" entry in BIOS... I could recreate the entry manually and boot my old HDD... but the same tatic didn't work for installation (if someone know why I would aprecciate an answer)... After 15 days of displeasure and suffering (lol), I concluded that having a working non UEFI dual boot machine is better than having none... And started to gear up to a more tradicional chameleon OSX installation... I would work with a dual boot dual HDD chameleon installation... I was plagued with EBIOS errors and a final error in setup that didn't let me go ahead... even with boot flags there was no way to install OSX again (It was working beautifully)... Finally, I had an idea! I made a UEFI OSX installation, installed chameleon manually and applied extras and other tips of this guide... Installed W8 via BIOS... and boot both via chameleon... In the end, I learned a lot, but can´t get a clue of the problem on W8 UEFI installation... _____________ ON E6420 UEFI BOOTING If you was patient enough to read till here thx a lot... If not, no problem it was just a sad story, the thing is: I have a working UEFI partition... it means that it installs like on a real Mac... with recovery partition and so on... I don't know how to upload the files to forum, but I would like to return the support... Thank U all for the support... PS: Sorry about the english!!!
  16. Passing by to report progress - Clover (r. 2721) successfully installed in ESP; - EFI device boot configured in "BIOS"; - Changed Wi-fi card (Atheros AR5B93); The fact is that its all fine... But, don´t know why i couldn´t get clover to inject the kexts.... so I installed them with Kext Wizard... Soon I will run comprehensive tests... Next step is to install windows.... How can I test EIST?
  17. Hello, Im booting UEFI... My config.plist was generated using an excellent tool named HVT.... The installation disk was created by one of your guides.... Nexts Steps: Install clover in System disk, Install Windows and get a dual boot single disk working machine!!! Thanks for your efforts (guides, tools, etc) and help...
  18. I'm using the DSDT file provided in this guide... But that was not the issue, it was the config.plist file! Now I can boot CLOVER from pen drive... I will keep on with my experiments and post my findings and conclusions!!! Tks again...
  19. Great! I'll do that.... but first I want to switch from chameleon to clover... and Im having a really hard time with it.... Do any of u can boot the E6420 with clover? I can get to the disk selection screen.... but after select OSX thew screen goes black!!! Any ideas?
