vorob
I don't know how, but looks like this kext utility ruined my mac os installation. Its working but with horrible bugs like failing to get into process manager and etc. I'm reinstalling now

Guest richardashcroft
Hi everybody! N00b typing here, please bear with me! Problem: After I've rebuilt the kext cache, OS X switches off the monitor upon boot when entering Hi-Res mode. Long version: Had a almost flawlessly operating 10.6.0, built with D620SLV1.iso from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=178411. Updated to 10.6.6, after reboot WLAN was gone ("No Airport card installed"). Found this page: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.6.4/Portables#Latitude_D620_-_Service_Tag:_3ZNMR2J. Accordingly, I copied over IO80211Family.kext from my Time Machine backup and rebuilt the kext cache using "sudo kextcache -v 1 -m /Extra/Extensions.mkext /Extra/Extensions". Rebooted again, now the display switches off after the initial spinning logo phase. I'm quite stuck here. Any ideas how I can fix (without restoring from backup, that is...). On a sidenote, I don't have an external monitor at hand. Thanks in advance!

Guest richardashcroft
Well, trouble is, I can't operate OSX without seeing nothing... So I need a way to fix this without the need of a fully booted desktop. Thank you, guys!
