  1. Hi Quantan. Can you give some indications how you proceeded to install El Capitan on your E6410. I would like to do the same if it is not too complicated.
  2. Hi Leon Really glad you reached an agreement. Keep my donation to go on with the good work.
  3. Thanks for the info Hervé. Can I just update from AppStore on my E6410 (patel4prez installation guide) or do I have to reinstall ? Merci
  4. @all I finally upgraded to Yosemite after using Mavericks on my laptop for a few months and after numerous failed trials. I upgraded first to 10.10.1 and then from Appstore to 10.10.3. Working fine with a few tweaks. Lost iMessage that was working in Mavericks. System does not close unless I push and hold the power button. Power button and bluetooth stay on if I don't do that. Last thing, I lost sensors information on cpu and gpu temps in iStat. only show HDD temps. Info on these problems would help. Anyone has had and solved these ? Edit: 05-10-2015 Installed new Fakesmc for Yosemite and got cpu & gpu temp sensors back. Face time and AppStore woks but not iMessage.
  5. Thanks for your answer but I am already on bios A16. So it seems some thing else is going on.
  6. @patel4prez Hi, I tried twice to install Yosemite following your guide upgrade path. I tried with two different usb keys. My problem start when I get to line 32 and 33 of the Installation guide. Line 32 says that the machine should reboot, upon that Press F12 to boot from "USB Storage Device". Line 33 says: Let it boot to the drive/partition that you installed Yosemite to. Well my problem starts here. When the machine boots from the "USB Storage device", it just starts to reinstall the OS. No other choice is offered. If I let it go (so I did one time), it goes through the installation of the OS, starting with the choice of language, etc. So I am in a loop . It never goes to desktop. If I try to boot from the drive I installed Yosemite on , the machine does not boot as it does not find a bootloader as the "Post Installation procedure was not done. Any idea what is going on ? Did I failed somewhere in the process ? Can you tell me what normally happens at steps 32 and 33. It seems my problem is there. Thanks in advance fro your help. Note that my installation of Mavericks was done without problem and that I am upgrading (at least trying) Yosemite on a clone copy of my HDD, so I won't loose my working OS.
  7. Thanks Wuerge for your answer As you can see in my signature, my system is similar to yours except for the cpu which is i5 in my case. I was wondering if I should follow the upgrade path or the new installation path to upgrade to Yosemite. And I was considering too your solution for sound. I just saw that Patel has published his patch for sound so I will try that before. I think I will first try the upgrade path in Patel's guide and if I am not successful, the full installation later on. I'll give news after.
  8. Hi Wuerge I am interested in your solution. I have a few questions; 1- What do you mean by "on MBR partition" ? 2- did you follow Patel4prez guide full installation path or the upgrade path ? 3- What is your system configuration ? thanks for your help.
  9. @patel4prez Upgrading was easy and without problem. Are you considering modifying your guide when Yosemite will become available officially ?
  10. @patel4prez @ako @iMeek Thanks for your answer. Going to update.
  11. Hi @lls Did anyone installed OSX 10.9.5 on the e6410 ? Any precautions else than backup before updating ?
  12. Hi all I should have indicated that this occurs with OS X 10.9.4.
  13. Hi I tried to connect my Dell e6410 laptop to an external LCD screen through the VGA connector of the laptop. I just got a black screen on the laptop and and same thing on the LCD. Any reason for that ?
  14. I understand quite well the necessity of avoiding duplicate postings. The removed message (95% similar because I think I did some small adjustments) not in the same thread, was intended to give news of my solution and thanks to the people like you who helped me in finding a solution. No big deal. We say in Québec. "C'est pas la fin du monde." Salutations/Greetings
  15. @patel4prez I received your notifications for my message posted 23rd of july. Thanks. Seems that message disappeared !!!!! It does not show anymore. How is it possible . Was it erased for some reason ?
