Also, just so that I don't lose the link to this, it is a model very similar to yours, and it has more complicated instructions to get a ot of things working (worse case scenario) I wouldn't do anything from this yet, just use it as a reference. http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.8.2/Desktops

Other things to test: CPU Frequency (Gigahertz), install and run this program, and verify using it that your CPU's are running at the correct speeds, and have the correct # of cores listed. Also, does VGA work? I see a VGA compliant controller above... Deep Sleep: Lets try changing how it sleeps (i.e. Suspend to disk, RAM, or both). What system definitions do you have? (When you click about this mac, what does it say?) Ok, now to change the Hibernate Mode, First type: sudo pmset -g | grep hibernatemode Record it's output, and try to change it using the below commands (only what is in the quotes), if one of these cause normal sleep not to work, just change it back to what it was before. “sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0″ = suspend to RAM only (default on desktops) “sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 1″ = suspend to disk only “sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3″ = suspend to disk + RAM (default on laptops). --- What I think is going to work for you, as I think (correct me if I am wrong) that the OptiPlex 960 has 2 GB of RAM? Probably not enough for Mode 0 to work... HDMI Audio: Try this, plug in HDMI and do this: Open System Preferences – Sound – Output – And choose for Headphones. If not, I have some other (much more complicated ideas about a DSDT (: ) Internal Audio: reported on a dead forum post about Snow Leopard that VoodooHDA 2.6.2 works fine, take that from the attached .zip and drop it in /E/E/, then run myFix (Quick) Also, for good measure, drop the FileNVRAM.dylib into /Extra/Modules/ and reboot. Just FYI, Unifail injects no kexts or dsdt, that is what multifail is for, so as long as you didn't use multifail, it was working oob. If you did use multifail, what optiond did you select? If deepsleep doesnt work, I have a dimple fix for that on most desktops. Sorry about not attaching the file, I was tired , you may still need that file for iMessage to work though... I will attach it tonight.

Well, to start, some computers (alot of desktops) boot with generic extra folders, so just run myHack on the USB drive and run install extra, and choose generic. (sorry if you know this already), if it boots, Great! If not post where the boot hangs with the "-v" boot flag. The kexts you used with iFail will work in myHack as well, so you can use the ones you used to get some of the hardware working. (Please let us know what kexts you used for what hardware). To get HDMI audio working, I am reading about some issues with this card (like no video after sleep...), did you experience these? If not, then I will move onto the Audio issue (as video is more important than audio. To get iMessage, Appstore, and other i-apps working, drop the attached "FlieNVRAM.dylib" into /Extra/Modules/ and just reboot (common problem) After we finish installation, it would be nice to add a list of Working, Partially Working, and Not working to the OP.

Just to add to this... does that list say anywhere GIARENTEED TO WORK? I mean as you said with the audio... it DOES work, it just took fiddling, which is really what Hackintoshing requires. The Asus system you refered to probably functions decently with some work. Notice it doesn't say hard to get working, it just says that it can be made to work) Maybe next time, throw up a post labeled "problems on Asus (model, etc.)." At which point I and many other people would happily help you resolve the problems as we are Actively on many topics... so if you would post specific problems with your model, we can give our best answers. Neither the E6420 or the E5420 are in EDP, but using a bit of time and work, they both run very well now. I am willing to help you try to fix the issues you have, but as I said, broad complaints go nowhere.

Sweet. I'm doing homework as we speak... or should be On Deep Sleep, yes, what you described tells me that it is working. The Express Card may work oob, have you tested it? Mine just worked from the beginning (though I have the E6420). I will check about the FireWire Mini port. About the Ethernet... I have an idea, will you post up the kext you used to get 66% packet loss? Edit: The Firewire port is supported OOB by OSX, both OSX86.net and tony crap. So knock those off the list (:

This is for the model E6420 with the Intel 3000 Graphics Card, could someone who uses the Nvidia version please post their findings on it. Thank you all. Although this guide is made for the i3-quad core, 8GB RAM, v3 ALPS, it has been extended to other types, just read through the thread. Credits @Jake Lo - DSDT patches for HDMI audio, AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB Patching for VGA and HDMI video output, the boot pack, Patching AppleHDA and finding the HDAEnabler trick in chameleon for audio, a lot of help with just about everything @Stork - Starting the research thread and figuring out the original stuff back on Lion (: @Bronxteck - User Support @RehabMan @BpedMan @sontrg @Yeahoon and myself - Work on the VoodooPS2 Project for ALPS, its come a long way and is still in development here: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2545-new-touchpad-driver-for-e6520-alps/ @All - Debuging and helping out, without all of us, we wouldn’t be this far Myself (: - VoodooSDHC, Writing the guide, getting Deep Sleep Working 1. Download the most recent MyHack and open and drag it to Applications, enter your sudo password, select “Create OS X 5. Installerâ€, then choose “Create OS X 10.9 Install Diskâ€, choose the USB drive you wish to use. 6. Rerun myHack and choose install extra, choose Extra, wait for all processes to finish 7. Reopen myHack and run myFix (quick) on your usb drive. 8. Push F2 during BIOS to enter setup, change SATA to AHCI, change fast boot to on, enable USB boot, apply and exit 9. Plug in your MyHack USB and push F12 at BIOS and select USB 10. Click continue on the first screen then Utilities ==> Disk Utility ==> Pick the highest level of your Hard Disk and got to the “Erase†tab and choose “Mac OS X Extended Journaled†and click “options†and select “Guid Partition Table†then click erase 11. For Proper Keyboard, go to System Preferences ==> Keyboard ==> Modifier Keys ==> change Command Key to Option Key, and Option key to Command Key. 27. If you experience shutdown\restart issues, open your org.chameleon.boot.plist in textedit and change use kernel cache to no. 28. To get iCloud and Find my Mac working, download recoveryhd updater from osx86 (can't post link due to their download limits) and run it, reboot, check the icloud check boxes in system prefs. I will let you decide here... you can either have SD card functionality or Deep Sleep (normal sleep works either way), due to a conflict with the VoodooSDHC.kext in the attached extra folder, to get SD card reader working, just copy attached VoodooSDHC.kext to /Extra/Extensions and run myFix (quick) Congrats! Not Working Finger Print Reader (No clue how to fix… help would be appreciated) Headphone Jack (Temporary due to 10.9.2 breaking AppleHDA patches, will be fixed soon) This was caused on my model by a loose screw above the hard drive screws. Oh and does the Internal Microphone work? Your previous post said nothing about that. You can check by going to System Preferances ==> Sound ==> Input ==> and look for a microphone input. And also, does the Webcam work?

To fix VGA, HDMI, and HDMI Audio go here: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1969-guide-for-enabling-vga-and-hdmi-in-intel-hd3000-gpu/ SD Card Reader: Unzip the file attached and open "System Info.app" and the right click on the VoodooSDHC.kext and click "Show Package Contents" and then right click the Info.plist and refer back to "System Info" find your SD card Vendor ID and enter it in the place of the Vendor ID in the info.plist, drop in E/E. Keyboard Keys Issue: System Preferences ==> Keyboard ==> Modifier Keys ==> change Command Key to Option Key, and Option key to Command Key. Ethernet: I am not sure but will do some research if you can either run LSPCI in Terminal, or paste the Ethernet device ID and Vendor ID that can be found in the attached System Info app. Getting Multitouch: Drop this kext into E/E, and follow the rest of the install instructions (i.e. delete appleacpinub.kext....) And you can go to System Preferences ==> Keyboard ==> Shortcuts ==> Mission Control ==> Now chose the action you want (i.e. show dashboard) and click in the shortcut box, and do the gesture you want (it will show some weird keys, ignore it). Sleep: So sleep works... thats great! Does it work when it enters sleep by closing the lid? Does it also go in and out of Deep Sleep ok? "PCI slot (No devices to test with)" - PCI slot? Are you referring to the Smart card? The PCI card is internal... "IEEE 1394 (No devices to test with)" - What device is this? Sorry for all the questions, some of the info is needed to get the finer stuff tweaked and working smoothly Have a Great Day! RehabMan-Voodoo-ALPS-2014-0208-update-2.zip System Information.zip

Hey @sontrg me d yeahoon have a great base of fixes for the kext and 3 finger already solved. But if you would pm mee the changes you made to get 4 finger working, we could merge your work into our as we did with yeahoons and my work. (We have amde alot of changes, so it might be easier to get the 4 finger code from you and just inplement it to our source code) thanks so much for your work.
-
@firefly1 the finger z fix Jake Lo mentioned might just work. Actually though there is a fix on page 3 I believe that makes finger z persistant across reboot. Try that with the kext you were using.
-
We build ours off of the merge so (technically speaking), ours should load as the original rehabman merge would, that is what perplexes me.
-
@firefly1, hmm... no clue, me and yeahoon are currently both studying through the code to see if we can dissect why tgese KPs are happening, tge e6230 gas reported problems... However Ive noticed that these KPs seem to be non existant on e64xx series and (very few) on e65xx. Lots on the e62xx though. Will have an anwswer within a month or soo, sorry... this isnt an easy process.
-
No... it isnt info plist, it is within the kext and you cant edited, it must be edited at the sourrce code lehel.
-
Oh and to fix your bosses problem try one , of the ones between the debug and the merge, or edit finger z in voodoops2 preferances.
-
You two have differebt problems... @stolidedog, you have a problem with the loading of the kext, but the kext you reffered you is very similar to the merge, less multitoich work, but I would just live with that one. @adrien240, your problem is that your trackpad is not officially supported, and unless you talk to yeahoon and get him to add the device IDs you will have no luck whatsoever.
-
Nevermind I see above that you did, my bad for the double posting (: hmm... Have you already deleted Appleps2 controler from /S/L/E? I notice that it seems to be loading as well, if you alresdy have, try booting dash f once to see if that fixes it. Sorry... I cant find the dash on the android swype keyboard
-
No need for that, that is for a caching issue causing KP, and mointain lion isnt necessary, it is what I was on before I had that problem, sorr uhh for the confusion. Did you place the Daemon in /usr/bin/ and install the prefpane?
