  2. Look at my D430 post, there is a fix for that
  3. I think he allready have tested it =)
  4. Hi, This is my Research thread, so note that alot of things might change. Initial install: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=250104&st=0 However, add voodooTSCSync.kext also to the installation. Kexts added to /s/l/e (all from EDP): * AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext * FakeSMC.kext * IONetworkingFamily.kext (fixes LAN, but seems to break wifi) * NullCPUPowerManagement.kext * VoodooTSCSync.kext * VoodooHDA.kext * VoodooPS2controller.kext (debug version) Not working (yet): * Restart Notes: * It seems Lion is really slow when it can't find any network * I have to clear /System/Library/Caches before every boot or it wont boot Fixed: Problem: Wifi does not work and OSX is slow Solution: Renamed "/S/L/SystemConfiguration/Apple80211Monitor.bundle" to .bundle_ to prevent it from loading
  5. weird.. both should work out of the box.. look under system profiler.. is any of them detected ? I should get some sleep.. but i dont like when a latitude is in distress
  6. ok.. so bring me up to speed (i'm luying sick in bed, hence my brain is working slow) .. what is working.. and what isent ?
  7. ok.. maybe i missed it in your list.. btw.. is yours with Nvidia graphics or Intel graphics ?
  8. you forgot to update to 10.6.6 before reboot
  9. Check this out... http://www.osxlatitude.com/groups/d4xosx/wiki/900e4/How_to_do_a_new_build.html
  10. Your error was that you did a rebuild from default, and not did a new build...
  11. Think i'm gonna leave Lion for a while, it runs slow as a horse ass anyway .. time to prepare EDP for 10.6.7
  12. Hi, If you have followed our method here: http://www.osxlatitude.com/groups/d4xosx/wiki/94855/Howto_install_OSX_on_your_Dell_Latitude.html and use latest EDP, then you can update as you want //Leon
  13. Is that needed when i have removed PlatformSupport.plist .. and in that case.. how do i do that ?
  14. yep it does... My CPU is a 7700 model .. but its only a 1,33ghz.. however, i tested on a D530, wich is a 2ghz c2d, and did a xbench test and compared to a test made on the same computer under SL, and its quite alot slower. The main reason for the slow down, is that in this release (as i understand it), everything is sandboxed, meaning, nothing is running native, everything have go thru the sandbox api's.. .
  15. ok, same here.. lets hope the next release will work better...
  16. ok, i never got around to see if mine works.. still can't get it to boot properly.. i let it stand for over an hour, and its the same in both x64 and x86 mode.. Do you use CRC's modified bios with dsdt ?
  17. I have BCM4321 .. havent tested if it works yet.. Btw.. this you might wanna check out these: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/261-osx-107-lion-clientserver-release-notes/
  18. I found these... ---- Mac OS X Lion Developer Preview Seed Note This seed note lists some late breaking issues. More documentation about specific features can be found at the Mac OS X Developer Library, available through . Installation Notes Mac OS X Lion Developer Preview is prerelease software. Do not use this prerelease software in a commercial operating environment or with important data. You should back up all of your data before installing this software and regularly back up data while using the software. You will not be able to upgrade from the Lion Developer Preview to the final Lion release. Mac OS X Lion introduces the Recovery HD, which can take the place of of an installation DVD by providing recovery tools such as Disk Utility. In order to access the Recovery HD, shutdown the computer and hold ⌘-R while booting. The Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant applications can now migrate data from a PC running Windows. You will need to download and run the Migration Assistant application for the PC. This software can be downloaded from the Mac Dev Center website. Known Issues - Lion requires hardware with a Core 2 Duo processor or better. - iMac (Late 2006) is not supported for this Lion seed. - In order to install Lion to additional systems, copy the Mac OS X Lion Installer application from /Applications over to your second Mac and double-click on the application. This can only be done on Mac you have authorized to share content downloaded from the Mac App Store. - Volumes with Disk Encryption enabled are only recognized by Mac OS X 10.7. - For volumes with Disk Encryption enabled, create, delete or resize partitions on Mac OS X 10.7 only. Doing so on previous versions of Mac OS X will render the volumes unreadable. - If after enabling Disk Encryption you are rebooted back into Lion, and the Disk Encryption tab of the Security & Privacy System Preferences pane does not report that your disk is in the process of encrypting, please try re-enabling disk encryption. - If you use FileVault on Snow Leopard, disable it prior to upgrading to Lion. You can enable the new Disk Encryption feature in Lion. - Mac OS X Lion Developer Preview requires Boot Camp 3.2 or later if Boot Camp is utilized. - The Services menu may not be fully functional in applications utilizing Application Sandboxing, such as TextEdit and Preview. - Application Sandboxing does not currently track renames while a document is open. If one opens a file in an application utilizing Application Sandboxing and renames the file in Finder while it is open, further attempts to save the file from the application will then fail until it is restarted. - Installation to a software RAID is not currently supported.  Attempting to do so may render the volume non-bootable.  Software RAIDs can still be used as data volumes. - Network migrations are only supported from Mac OS X v10.6.6 with the Migration Assistant compatibility update installed. - iPhoto pictures cannot be viewed in Full Screen on MacBooks with discrete video hardware. - VoiceOver will not play a welcome message during initial user setup. VoiceOver works correctly otherwise, once enabled through System Preferences or by hitting ⌘-F5. - If AirDrop does not appear to be working correctly, option-click the AirPort menubar item and ensure that the channel listed is not on the 5 GHz band with a channel between 52-64 or 100-140. Disabling and enabling Wi-Fi may resolve this issue. - The Recovery partition may not be created when installing Lion on a drive with an unsupported partition scheme. - In the open and save dialogs of Preview and TextEdit, the controls that allow you to specify formats, encodings, and other options may not be visible if the Dock is positioned on the right or left edges of the screen. If you encounter this issue, you can get around it by dismissing the panel, moving the Dock to the bottom of the screen, and bringing up the panel again. - Multitouch trackpads that only support two-finger gestures will not have an option to reverse the scrolling direction in the Trackpad System Preferences pane. - If your computer is unable to connect to your ethernet network, check to see that the Ethernet interface is listed on the left side of the Network System Preferences pane. If not, click the "+" button and add the Ethernet interface. - If you are enabling MobileMe synchronization for the first time after installing Lion, go to the MobileMe System Preferences pane, select the Sync tab, and enable "Synchronize with MobileMe". Next, deselect all synchronization options from Bookmarks to Preferences. Finally, reboot your machine and go back to the MobileMe System Preferences pane to re-enable all desired synchronization options. - iTunes gift cards and other redemption codes cannot be redeemed in the Mac App Store. - Saving a PDF being previewed in Safari is not currently supported. Instead, ctrl-click the link to the PDF and select "Save Linked File". Known Issues with Lion Server - Lion Server must be installed on an empty disk. - Safari is currently the only supported browser for use with Wiki Server or Profile Manager. - Profile Manager does not currently allow for profiles, including the profile containing the MDM payload, to be locked. - All users must have an email address when using shared calendars with iCal Server. - New sharepoints will not inherit group permissions. You must manually change the permissions. - Remote administration is not supported in this release. - Installing the Server Admin Tools package on non-Lion Server systems is not supported. - During installation, Lion Server may not be selected as a default install package on server hardware. You must select customize and manually choose to install Server.
  19. This is the problem i see most of the time: .. also, the reason why Lion is slower, seems to be because of the new Sandbox. Lion is without question a new way of doing things for Apple.. for the better of worse
  20. I'll second what Joe said.. Like many other on the site.. just follow this guide: http://www.osxlatitude.com/groups/d4xosx/wiki/94855/Howto_install_OSX_on_your_Dell_Latitude.html
  21. This is EDP: http://www.osxlatitude.com/groups/d4xosx/wiki/a92b0/EDP_History_and_Changelog.html
  22. Could not get installer to work.. but cloned a installation of a Mac mini. i got my D430 to boot Lion by adding VoodooTSC to /s/l/e also.. needed to sync core's... There is some buts: 1. Its extremely slow, hardly useable 2. You can not use arch=i386 .. it will die durring boot 3. There is not GMA950 drivers, hence you are limited to 1024x768 4. Keyboard does not, i guess we need to add voodoopos2controller.kext to /s/l/e also On my D430, it actually runs faster in VMware on SL
