yes edp will remove the old kexts like the way you described... test one don't like it run again and test another -
hold off your model will not take it lightly, backup S/L/E ! a lot of changes required including dsdt modification and the update is not worth the headache ... no improvements to os just problems but search the forum theres a lot of info on your machine already posted. Simeon is doing an extensive rewrite for that model

lol... too many names Simo... lol
-
i think dazzler has a dsdt for d630 intel on the forum somewhere that boots lion
-
after chameleon rev.1116 they want you to rename com.apple.boot.plist to org.chameleon.Boot.plist
-
i used the image method of lion my self and i can vouch that it works... just restore it to a partition same size or bigger
-
well osx did not magically appear there did it? there are tons of ways to do things, you can pull the drive and do it externally, load another partition with 10.6.0, dance around it and pray, my favorite method is the hammer method... it lets you customize and rewrite the bits on the hdd in a single blow. also i think there where some older distros that had a live osx cd like or even unbuntu. i am sure all those problems exist after the os is running not before... if not then there is something seriously wrong with that laptop or it's bios or settings "Hammer Time?" lol.

i had a issue similar to the one your having... it happened when i recently upgraded my chameleon boot loader from the one in EDP... to fix it well i haven't ... i wound up having to install chameleon to efi instead this way or this way then used EFI Mounter.app to add my /Extra folder but it was better then having to use a usb stick all the time and works just as well. but all kext changes have to be done on efi partition the one in the root of osx will have no effect on booting properly like before.

Cool... Glad it all worked out

repair permissions on the drive using disk utility maybe your system catches need to "catch up"
-
in applications utility folder
-
first repair your drive permissions with disk utility then delete all the network devices and reboot then add them back see if that helps

lol... no sorry it's just that at this moment we are developing edp1.9 so time is a bit scarce... and i don't think any of the members are running 3 different os's we are just concentrating on Lion and 10.6.7/8. as for 4 partitions windows being the fourth in my case i did not do that and may not be necessary ...i think if you install grub the wrong way it creates a swap file that can lead to a fourth partition, unless you take into account the 210mb efi partition that gets generated by default then yes it is 4 but you only create 3 as efi is not visible. it's confusing and thats probably why no one has touched the subject... lol... i loaded windows on the second partition (really 3rd) and unbuntu on the third (really 4th) but it didn't last to long before i got tired of fixing the damn windows partition every time i messed around with chameleon... yeah it was nice but useless after awhile. Im a pc guy and i found that osx was less strenuous on my life...lol it fulfilled my daily needs so to recap this ramble 1st part was efi 210 mb (generated automatically when partitioning) 2nd part lets call it 1st mountable partition OSX 3nd part lets call it 2nd mountable partition Windows 4th part lets call it 3rd mountable partition TimeMachine Backup... or whatever lets say unbuntu but this too was a major pain in the ars to get working properly and grub destroyed the whole boot loader setup and again had to start from scratch many times (But it is possible and chameleon can boot all three correctly... Google was my best friend )until i got wise and started cloning the installed partitions which was dependent to the os but i think i used Clonezilla don't remember... then reimaged them back in the order i wanted.... (Are you sure you want to go thru all this... lol)

did you use combo update if not download it and reinstall. but before you go too crazy use disk utlility and repair permissions then reboot if that doesn't help then combo update. if not then add your specs to your signature so that we can help further
-
did you try deleting and adding the network card again in networking preferances?
-
ok now change Pciroot to 1 in com.apple.boot.plist you can use lizard app and see if that helps with slowdown
-
try at chameleon boot prompt pmVersion=23 if it works change it in com.apple.boot.plist edp has pmVersion=21
-
what chameleon version are you running bye the way?
-
D630 does not do well with 10.6.8, dsdt needs modification as LatinMcG states as for the kexts... backup s/l/e... thats where all the system kexts are. you will probably need more than one. as for smbios the x3100 based d630 is closest to macbook3,1
-
for me i had no issues with it, it just works but if you want my smbios file like LatinMcG suggests here it is... mind you mine is d620 intel which matches closest to macbook2,1 there might be better one but this seems to work for me smbios.plist 2.zip
-
nawcom has a 10.6.8 sleep enabler out... you can replace yours and rebuild mkext
-
mine shows up as 4311 in ubuntu, 4312 in kernel log but loads as a 4323 lol why i have no clue i have yet to rebrand it but i'm not having issues with detecting it maybe an occasional slowdown but nothing major
-
on chameleon boot prompt type mach_kernel -v sounds like you have more than one kernel or at least a different one then the update
-
the only thing i could think of is you need to revert to 10.6.0 - 10.6.3 networking kext... we have been going through this since the 10.6.4 update i guess people have forgotten about this issue and it always rears it's ugly head on every update since. you can use pacifist to extract the kexts you need from one of the combo updates. which kexts? depends on what wifi you have as most have replaced there intel wifi with something different only you know what has been bought! lol..
