  1. make sure the auto dim light sensor is off in bios.. it known to causes dark flickering screens depending on the ambient light around.
  2. check in bios. dynamic something or other... simeonoff has mentioned it a couple of times in the forum
  3. well if you need are going to multi boot or run osx extensively might as well get the compatible option which is the broad com card (dell 1490).. the 1490 gets mixed reviews. i have one and i do not need a kext but other users do. why i don't know maybe it has to do with the revision of the cards? and mine has not been rebranded it shows as Third-Party Wireless Card.
  4. you know what that's a good question about the helper partitions. hmm i havenot used them in a while (more than a year) i don't remember... have you looked at there literature? i stopped using windows somewhere around 10.6.2. so i'm out of practice.
  5. carbon copy cloner should be fine with an external setup. the wifi cards are mini pci-e. here, some feedback from forum members
  6. by the way did you update edp to 1.9? which machine do you have also please put it in your signature specs of latitude. are you using nullcpu? it was upgraded in 1.9 most machines do not need the sleep enabler/ null cpu kexts
  7. reset your bios to defaults. or in bios power manegement check your usb settings. if wake from usb is on the machine will never go to sleep.
  8. "leppys disk only works properly with 10.6.0 as apple upgraded the os leppys disc did not follow with them so some kexts he uses will not load properly like graphics and such because of kernel dependencies. once you have a booting system install edp 1.9 go to your new extra folder on the drive you installed edp to run edptool.command install chameleon to the drive it's one of the options then build edp for your model. and combo update to 10.6.8 once it reboots to 10.6.8 rerun edp for your model again to replace some audio dependencies.
  9. mirrored mode duplicates the main screen on to a second monitor... which does not work on most dell's running osx. it will corrupt the graphics on both monitors. extended mode is it's own user space so in essence expands your desktop area. so you could watch a video lets say on one display and do work in the other.
  10. you an also try npci=0x2000 -v at chameleon boot prompt
  11. I have no clue if it would work as i do not have that model but on my d620-gma graphics extended mode works but not mirrored mode. so i do not know how the nvidia models behave.
  12. it should put the right kext's for you. EDP stands for Extra Driver Package. it's a set of scripts and utilities to help you. like a post installer for latitudes.
  13. set bios to defaults is a preference in the bios... look through it. did you follow the sleep method on the wiki i linked too?
  14. according to leon it downloads it from the server where too i don't know... i have never used it. look for a downloads folder on root of drive.
  15. Leon he's talking about the wiki. the links are down to the vanilla dsdt's they never made the migration to the new server. look http://new.osxlatitude.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/dsdt_d620_gma_a10.aml_.zip
  16. if you have the option to change the WiFi cards from Intel to broadcom you should exchange them. if your planning on multi booting then an extra 40 gigs is an extra OS partition opportunity.
  17. check in edp options. should be there
  18. lion requirements state 10.6.6 is thee lowest it will take. but if you want lion then install lion instead of snow leopard. what type of issues did you have? to see them boot with -v flag.
  19. EDP 1.9 is out you can use it for 10.6.8
  20. have you tried the d630 DSDT to compare shutdown times? startups take long with chameleon. try adding this kernel flag to org.chameleon.Boot.plist npci=0x2000
  21. check the wiki we keep common fixes there. have you updated the bios to the latest dell bios? also set your bios to default.
  22. yes if you have edp installed and chameleon 1213 or higher, but save s/l/e incase you need a kext for networking.
  23. well according to leon most broadcoms can be reactivated by creating a new network location. so lets test this theory guys.
  24. install edp to your install media then run the edptool.command in /Extra folder... build for your machine type.
