Hi smp, Try to install EDP and run myfix full mode. You also need to recopy the dsdt.aml that worked for you previously. That should solve the problems. Cheers!
-
Hi tony, Looks familiar. Have you run myfix full mode? Cheers!

Hi saphire, Can you try the AppleACPIPlatform.kext from 10.6.7 through the link above and boot with mach_kernel arch=i386 -v -f. This is how I got it to work on my D520 and D630. I suspect its similar for your machine (core 2 duo). If it KP on AppleACPIPlatform.kext, try to rerun myfix in full mode. Cheers! P/S: We posted at the same time . Great to hear your machine is up and running.

Hi everyone, With the success of solving the major issue of AppleACPIPlatform.kext in getting 10.7.4 update to work on D series laptop, I attempted to test the similar solution on Mountain Lion DP1 & DP2. Previously, my ML installation ether boot slowly or didn't boot at all. The following are my findings so far:- (a) For ML DP1, replacing the AppleACPIPlatform.kext with the version from 10.6.7 has solve the slow or no boot issue I had previously especially when booting mach kernel in 32 bit mode (i.e. mach_kernel arch=i386). All kexts from EDP 2.2 loaded nicely. Although the IntelGMAX3100 is loaded, as expected there was no graphics acceleration. (b ) For ML DP2, replacing the AppleACPIPlatform.kext with the version from 10.6.7 has also solved the slow boot issue I had previously when booting mach kernel (ML DP2 is a full 64 bit kernel so trying to boot in 32 bit mode will cause the kernel to reboot). Only 64 bit kext will be loaded. Similarly, there was no graphics acceleration as 32 bit AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext cannot be loaded. So there you go. I'm afraight unless Apple / Intel somehow decided to develop a 64 bit kext which may also be pointless as the X3100 and GMA950 is not able to support openGL 3, 10.7.4 will most likely be the end of the road for my beloved D630. [This is a reseach / testing topic / post. For any help / assistance please go to the appropriate forum / topic]

Hi saphire, I don't think its graphics issue at the boot up process has not even finished. I suspect its the AppleACPIPlatform.kext. Try to replace it. You can refer to this forum for a download link : http://forum.osxlati...__fromsearch__1 Cheers!

Hi clockwork, EDP 2.2 is for Lion. For Snow Leopard, assuming you updated to 10.6.8, you need EDP 1.9.2. Cheers!
-
Dear Jawhn, So far similar issue occured for D430, D520 and D630. We have not tested any D830 yet as we don't have any machine to test on However, we suspect similar issue with the AppleACPIPlatform.kext will occur for D830. Why don't you help us to test and let us know. I would suggest you create another partition and os x installation to test on first before you update your main system. Cheers!

Hi Beebs, On you 10.7.4 issues, we already started a topic here that may solve your problems :- https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1363-start-your-engines-1074-is-here/page__view__getnewpost__fromsearch__1 So far, I have 2g on my rig and i never find it to be an issue... however, i do wish i had more when i'm on VM though. Cheers!

Dear Alex, Great to hear that your SL is roaring on your AMD system. Cheers!
-
Dear clockwork, Try to boot with mach_kernel arch=i386 -f -v and let me know where it get stuck. We need more information before we can assist you. Cheers!
-
Dear Steve, Good to hear that your D520 is up and running. So, you've managed to install OS X on a VM? It would a great help for other members if you could provided some details on how you did that. Especially for those who does not have access to a working os x to run myhack. Cheers!
-
Hi xpeace, Can you try to boot with mach_kernel arch=i386 -f -v and let me know where it get stuck. If you are able to boot into your system, reinstall EDP, run full myfix and restart normally. Cheers!
-
Hi valhalla, Did a quick check. If your D420 is duo 2 core and GMA950 then lion can be installed. We also already have bootpack and EDP for it. You can read the wiki above on how to install. Cheers!
-
Hi clockwork, Great to hear that things are going well for you. Cheers!
-
Dear xpeace, If you can boot into the installation disc, insert your usb stick with the appleacpiplatform.kext, run terminal and copy it into your os x system. You also need to run myfix from terminal (e.g. myfix -t "/Volumes/OS X Lion/"). Let me know if you need a detailed walkthrough. Cheers!

Hi elim, You need to read this post : https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1363-start-your-engines-1074-is-here/page__pid__9195#entry9195 Enjoy!

Hi, We are pleased to report that we have make huge progress in getting 10.7.4 to the rigs of all our members. We have found that the appleacpiplatform.kext is the only kext that is problematic which can be easily resolved with rollback to the 10.6.7 version. After replacing the kext, you need to run myfix using full mode and reboot. We have tested this on D430, D520 and D630 with great success. Enjoy! You can download the kext from here : http://team.osxlatit...s/coolbook-lion

Dear never, If you can boot into command line with safeboot (i.e. mach_kernel -v -f -s -x) then you can move the deleted files provided you have not emptied your trash. If I not mistaken, go to the trash directory by typing "cd /" and then "cd .Trashes" and then "ls" to see the list of files. Hopefully its in there. You can easily move it to e.g. /system/library/launchdaemon by typing "mv filename /System/Library/LaunchDaemon/". Try it. Cheers!

hi clockwork, Looks like graphics issues to me. Did you installed the Extra bootpack from the wiki to your new os x system to get it up and running? Cheers!
-
Hi never, You could also use pacifist to open the lion installer and look for the directory that may contains those files and then extracting them. However, if those files are generated during installation then bronxteck advice above may be the only way to go. Cheers!

Clear directions on installing lion (10.7) on dell d430
Syonagar replied to toyreon's topic in The Archive
Dear toyreon, The method to install lion is quite similar to installing snow leopard. Basically, you need to purchase lion from app store. After that, use myhack to prepare the lion usb installer and then install lion from the usb. Upon first boot, run EDP and finally myfix. Its that simple. Try it. p/s: You may want to create another partition to test to install lion first so that you can use your working snow leopard to troubleshoot. After everything goes well then you can consider removing snow leopard. Cheers! -
Dear navigator, No worries. No need to apologise. We are here to help. After preparing the lion usb installer using myhack, you can install the generic Extra provided by myhack to get you system up and running. You then need to install additional kexts (or in windows its called drivers Cheers!

Dear petermartin, I use disk utility to backup my os x partition. You need to create another partition or use external hard disk to write the image to. Cheers!
-
Dear mill, You might be interested to look at one of our member who laser cut the apple logo on his dell. It also lid in the dark by the way. Search for it in the forum. Cheers!

Hi thenavigator, You need to read the the wiki section above on how to prepare the lion usb installer as well as how to dual boot on preparing the hard disk for os x installation. As for necessary kexts for your model, you need to search the forum on potential kexts for your model (starting from saphires post above). As of now, there is no EDP support for your model but as always we are working on it as we speak. Hope this will give you a head start. Cheers!
