You could use the D430 pack I've posted not that long ago. Well I think I did...

Dell Precision 670 - Paxville - BIOS A07 - GT210 black screen (ML & M)

Did you remove the NVEnabler64 kext from /E/E as recommended? Run myFix (quick) afterwards and reboot. I never mentioned it but do check that GraphicsEnabler is enabled too (boot option GraphicsEnabler=Yes). Mind you, if it is and still giving you black screen, I suppose you could boot with additional option GraphicsEnabler=No... -
Sorry, pardon my French!

I actually meant those Chameleon boot modes that are listed in the Wizard Install tab where you can opt for the boot file that suits disk with OS X + Windows or OS X only or multiple OS X partitions, etc.
-
Bear in mind that you really should avoid myHack v3.3.1 for a Snow Leopard installation and stick to v3.1.2. There's a bug in myHack v3.3.1 but what happens is that it can screw up the SL installation you run it from for an SL USB installer... What you can do re: Chameleon bootloader is use the Chameleon Wizard and, in the install tab, install the latest version having selected the appropriate boot mode listed in the tab.

Mavericks 10.9.2/10.9.3 is work in progress at the moment. Following release of the 10.9.2 source code by Apple, Bronya published an initial version of a 10.9.2 RC5 kernel which allows 10.9.2/10.9.3 to be installed in the Precision 670 using our traditional myHack method. However, some issues remain as far as I'm concerned, most notably an apparent problem to fully initialize nVidia graphics cards on switching to desktop: at present, all I get is the white/light gray screen + mouse pointer on the display. I can move the mouse but cannot get the OS X desktop on screen.

I guess you meant nVidia GeForce G210, not GT210. Bear in mind that the DSDT I posted has been patched to inject nVidia GeForce 9800GT details. As such, I'd recommend you remove that particular patch since you have a G210, a card that normally works OOB in SL, L, ML and Mav (well, it was when I tested one). The patch is fully documented in the guide, so it is very easy to remove. Copy the DSDT to your OS X desktop, decompile it with Chameleon Wizard (or DSDTEditor or other), open the .dsl source file in TextEditor (or any other text or DSDT editor), remove the Device (GFX0) section, save the .dsl file and recompile it with Chameleon Wizard (or DSDTEditor or other). You can verify this likely graphics card injection issue by booting with Chameleon options & flags DSDT=Null -f -v PciRoot=4 and check which nVidia card is detected and which nVidia kexts are loaded, then see if OS X properly switches to desktop. Expect to experience CMOS reset/BIOS settings reset on subsequent reboot (the DSDT was patched to take care of that so that the RTC kext is avoided). Please note that you would not normally require the NVEnabler64 kext either, so remove it if you kept it in /Extra/Extensions. If you want to try and patch the DSDT for the G210, please follow the process outlined in post #6 of the guide. For Mavericks, I assume you've noticed the limitations mentioned in the guide too (i.e. 10.9.1 at the moment). Note that 10.9.2/10.9.3 is work in progress at the moment. -
Asus K53SV-SX146V (i5 2410M): which bootpack and EDP?
Hervé replied to pckrullenbol's topic in The Archive
Please post a copy of your /Extra so that we can add your model to EDP. You can also write a guide as many people have done in recent past. Regarding FaceTime, it seems to be a well-known issue. Look it up on the web; seems camera settings related. -
Asus K53SV-SX146V (i5 2410M): which bootpack and EDP?
Hervé replied to pckrullenbol's topic in The Archive
You need a battery manager to be able to get the battery status in the Finder's bar (voodooBattery or another). When you do an EDP build, only selected options are installed but yes, stuff that you had before but no longer select will be deleted. -
You got me to doubt my own published pack so I tried a new installation of 10.9.2 on a USB external HDD. I made a USB installer on a 16Go SanDisk Cruzer with myHack v3.3.1 and created the Extra folder using the ML-Mav pack. That's all. I installed Mavericks on a USB external disk with a GUID/GPT partition formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). At the end of the installation, I pointed to the Extra folder at the root of the myHack USB installer when prompted for the Extra folder (selecting my own, not generic) and removed all suggested kexts. On reboot, I had a complete working 10.9.2 installation with nothing to add except stuff not supported by the pack (such as my wireless dongle for instance). No boot option or flag required. I guess you're either doing something wrong or your Mavericks/myHack downloads are possibly corrupt. If you can boot in safe mode (-x), do that, the open up Terminal and type myfix -qt /. That should rebuild kext cache and reboot.

Asus K53SV-SX146V (i5 2410M): which bootpack and EDP?
Hervé replied to pckrullenbol's topic in The Archive
myHack v3.3.1 includes Chameleon v2.2 r2266 by default. There's nothing you can do about that, but you can update it by using Chameleon Wizard from a Mac or a Hack; simply target your myHack USB stick when you're in the Install tab and update. There's no specific pack for your machine, so you'll have to actually make it, building from what you've experienced and found out. Don't expect existing packs for other systems to necessarily work on your particular model. Start with the generic bootpack since that gave you good results at the beginning. If you want help, once you have your basic system working after a myHack build, post us the output of Terminal command lspci -nn. This will show us the list of hardware (at PCI level) your machine has and can help us point you to such and such driver to handle your hardware. -
Don't install or use EDP; the pack I posted is sufficient. Is your computer clock defaulted by any chance and not at today's date & time?

Can I put TWO wifi cards in a d430? (Broadcom and Intel)
Hervé replied to gpetrowich's topic in The Archive
OS X will detect the Intel card at low/BIOS level but won't be able to load any driver (kext) for it, so no possibility to activate the card. The Broadcom card will be detected and added to the list of network interfaces in the Network preference panel. KPs are not systematic and somehow depend on the combination of laptop model/Intel wireless card model/OS X version. If you're still at OS X installation phase, I'd say use only the Broadcom 1st and add the Intel card once OS X is up and running.. -

One slot is labelled WLAN, i.e. destined for wireless cards, the other one is labelled WWAN, i.e. destined for 3G cards. However, you can use either type of cards in either slots, so yes, you can have both cards at the same time. In your case, only the Broadcom card will work under OS X. -
Clearly a bug with the most recent EDP update then. Meantime, you can make use of the kexts and plists provided here. Try and keep the DSDT from your original bootpack.
-
Yes, the bootpack for Mavericks is the one in post #9 of the guide. The bootpack from the compatibility chart/bootpack page is the old initial one that derived from my very 1st Snow Leopard installation. It still has kexts for ATI X1300 graphics and the outdated DSDT. It's not good for Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks. This needs to be revisited, sorry...

Mmm, I can't see anything obvious that'd be out of the norm. Here is an updated and complete /Extra for your D630 nVidia. You would only add a kext if a particular piece of hardware specific to your laptop was not already covered. Install it with myHack (keep a backup of your existing /Extra) and do check the version of Chameleon bootloader you currently have. I would recommend you use the latest available through the Chameleon Wizard, i.e. r2377 or r2378 at time of writing. Extra_D630NV_Mav10.9.zip EDIT - 9 Aug 2014 ----------------------- Pack modified with original unedited DSDT in order to suit all D630 laptops.

Ok, well this default EDP build should be considered totally outdated. Many of those kexts can be either removed or replaced. Can you post the contents of the Chameleon boot plist + SMBIOS plist that you have in Extra? 'just trying to find out where the problem is really...
-
Looking ok at root level. What's in Extra? By the way, what Chameleon bootloader version do you have before & after EDP?
-
It's as if the kernel file is missing... Boot your myHack installer and check it out through Terminal. Look at what's at root of /Volumes/.
-
Assuming the kernel file is indeed present at root level and Ok, how about if you actually manually specify the kernel using "mach_kernel" or "mach_kernel -f -v" ? You may have an incorrect or corrupt kernel reference in your Chameleon boot plist, in which case the manual statement will overwrite it.
-
That'll be a cache issue. Try and boot with -f flag, then re-run myFix (quick) to rebuild your cache; alternatively, use Terminal command sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel.
-
Interesting, if you partition your HDD under GPT scheme, it can't be seen from BIOS. That's a 1st for me. Can your BIOS be updated at all to make some comparison in behaviour?
-
Some USB keys have issues with GUID partitions. I bought a 32Go USB key last year and it would only work when partitioned MBR. I could not repartition it GUID, it simply would not work...
-
If you don't see your HDD in the BIOS, it's either disabled, physically disconnected or dead.
