E6410 with nVidia NVS 3100M graphics - Mountain Lion Guide
Hervé replied to v3ct0r's topic in The Archive
ML behaves a tad differently than previous OS X versions... What if you open the SysPref Monitor pane, press ALT and select 'detect monitors'? Doesn't your external LCD get detected then? -
I guess it would require some DSDT tuning to work. If you know anyone with the right skills and knowledge who would also happen to have the required hardware, you could make people happy...

Hi, we don't support unifail, there's another site for that. Try and remove the offending kext, you never know... I'd invite you to try the myHack installer and we can take it from there.

If you don't have access to a Mac of a Hackintosh but have a retail SL DVD, try Nawcom's BootCD; just do a search for that on the forum, you'll find the instructions. They're on the main OSXL web site too.
-
Congrats, you've now followed the myHack/EDP procedure and got yourself a Hackintosh! Disabling wifi in the BIOS is not necessary when you have a supported card. Again, you might not need the patched IO80211Family kext, depending on your card model. But, until you tell us what it is, we'll never know.
-
No, keep your laptop as it is. Once you know a bit more about Hackintosh, then you can look at what the Custom BIOS does (or does not).
-
You're free to do as you wish naturally (it's your install / re-install), but that's not what I would recommend: 1) combo update 2) re-run EDP kext installation 3) reboot into updated Lion There's probably been too many guides on this model. Just stick to the EDP procedure as explained in the EDP pages of the OSXL web site.

That's the LAN card. We all know the model on the D630. I meant the info for the Wireless card! Until we find out the model and ascertain the kext that supports it, you could stay in the dark... Maybe you don't need the patched IO80211Family kext at all. myFix repairs file permissions (ownership + Read/Write/Exec attributes) and renews Kernel/kext cache. Since you said your LAN had worked before but no longer was, I simply concluded that there was a possibility of a need for myFix. If IO80211Family is indeed required, you'll always need to use it and possibly port it at system upgrades. Regarding Lion update, do not update via Apple Menu -> Sotfware update or you'll screw up your installation. Download and install the 10.7.5 combo update off Apple website and, before reboot, re-run EDP kext installation. Read-up past threads, it's all out there.
-
Go to Apple Menu -> About this Mac -> System Report. In the PCI or Network section, you should see the details of your card -> give us the Vendor Id + Device Id Try and re-run myFix full to try and recover LAN usage.
-
Which wifi card did you put in? What did you do with the IO80211Family kext?
-
EDP bug now fixed.
-
After windows installation, if you don't see the Cham bootloader, use 'diskpart' command line utility to re-activate the Mac OS partition as explained in blog entry on OSXL web site main page.

DVI through docking station still not supported, whether on D620 or D630.

D430: dreaded "You need to restart your computer..." message after standby
Hervé replied to kitokian's topic in The Archive
Go into your BIOS and configure a System Password. Then, set password bypass for reboot and standby. That'll will cure your wake issue. -
Ok, there's a little bug in EDP which we'll fix tomorrow morning. This is due to introduction of Chameleon fix for iMessage, added to EDP today. Basically, you need to replace your "/boot" file by the boot file found in "/Extra/Storage". That's it, you'll be able to reboot normally afterwards.
-
Distros, we don't need/want to know...
-
You can, even without wearing rubber!!!
-
Did you re-install Chameleon on the HDD?
-
OSXL web site! You know the stuff hardly anyone remembers to consult! http://www.osxlatitude.com/how-to-fix-icloud-appstore-facetime/
-
iMessage, yes that is due to some recent changes Apple made, but help is on the way and there is now a Chameleon fix for it. Facetime, check the web site blog and adjust your settings as detailed. I assume your webcam is compatible.
-
If you have a restored image of SL or a retail SL DVD, you can do basic install with Nawcom BootCD and create a myHack installer afterwards. Failing that, you're screwed; find a Hack or a Mac...
-
This is not like crossing a wooden bridge over a tiny stream... There is no such thing as standard Hackintosh installation. You need to start listing your entire hardware specs, clearly identifiying all major pieces of hardware that make up your system. Then you can look up for potential Mac OS support: - CPU - chipset - audio - video - networking (wireless, bluetooth, LAN, etc.) - trackpad - keyboard - etc. Sometimes, the hardware will elude you, in which case you might have to inspect the Windows drivers to obtain hardware device id, which you can then lookup on the web for proper identification. Your BIOS revision and settings will also need to be looked into and possibly adjusted. It's always recommended to run latest available BIOS. Naturally, forum members shoud be able to help you once they see your hardware list, but without it.....

For VGA, you have 2 modes: mirror or extended. By my own experience, the following models fully support your requirements: - D620 GMA950 - D630 GMA X3100 (VGA in extended mode ok, in mirror mode only with lid closed) - D630 nVidia Lookup the other model sections (Dell and other manufacturers), I've only got experience on the D Series. Also, check the compatibility chart in EDP pages, it lists all supported features, model by model.

Tjmax is in the plist file of the Contents folder within the CPUMonitor package. By default, it's set to 0. Check your CPU specs on ark.intel web site and update the Tjmax value according to Intel specs. Re: nVidia FakeSMC plugin, justr do a little search on, the web. You'll find the plugin to download (and install to /E/E).
