tldrbro
@abraxis I think it's the same issue I have, the brightness is actually so low you coudl think there's no output at all. If you use a flash light ( from a smartphone per example) you will see it's on the login screen. @black.dragon74 We used ssdt-pnlf in patched folder from jake lo's bootpack. Administrators Bronxteck Posted December 2, 2017 Administrators Share Posted December 2, 2017 are you using emuvariable.efi clover driver and clover RC scripts? they might be needed for nvram to store your backlight settings. you can install both from clover installer options. you can also try clicking "SetIntelBacklight" or maxbackligt in clover device section
tldrbro
@Bronxteck in my case brightness control works only after waking from sleep for some reason. Otherwise at boot there's only two level possible, either full backlight or minimal backlight. @abraxis Do you only have working backlight control after waking from sleep ? abraxis
Im using emuvariable.efi clover driver and clover RC scripts AppleBacklightInjector is in L/E but system info says not loaded Tried maxbacklight in clover. suddenly my verbose bootup is gone till i get to desktop. (I allow for automatic login) setintelbacklight brings verbose back. Both bootup with backlight off. How do i resolve missing PNLF device?
black.dragon74
AppleBacklightInjector is in L/E but system info says not loaded Normal for an Injector. Your issue is 100% due to missing PNLF device Place the attached SSDT in EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched Remember, You need to have your GFX0 device renamed to IGPU in your ACPi tables. If something doesn't work, Attach proper problem reporting files. See How to generate proper problem reporting files Regards SSDT-PNLF.zip
abraxis
sorry, but how do i edit this? GFX0 device renamed to IGPU in your ACPi tables. Replacing the PNLF file caused some corruption in the EFI partition. Couldnt fix with disk utility had to start over. Ive been restoring from an earlier installation. Feels very unstable. Im going to start fresh and install osx with Jakes last 7280 zip files. Do you know how to resolve the WIFI (dell 1830) not being able to turn on? i attached my last ioreg report if that helps. Would updating bios help or hinder? debug_11805.zip
Moderators Jake Lo Posted December 3, 2017 Moderators Share Posted December 3, 2017 Re-export the raw DSDT/SSDT. If you're going to upgrade the BIOS, do so before exporting the new raw DSDT/SSDT by hitting F4 during Clover boot. Compress and attach the Origin folder here for re-patching. Moderators Jake Lo Posted December 4, 2017 Moderators Share Posted December 4, 2017 Here, First delete or backup the DSDT and SSDT Leaving only SSDT-PNLF and SSDT-ALC256 Then replace these into /EFI/Clover/ACPI/Patched 7280_1.6.5.zip
abraxis
Jake this worked brilliantly!! System is so much more stable Even windows is more responsive with the Bios update. Wifi / Bluetooth/ sound / Thunderbolt Port working as display output and Data port with external drive. (as long as it boots up with external drive) The only thing that refuses to enable is the touchpad. VoodooPS2Controller.kext loaded and registered. Tried S/L/E and L/E Cache cleaned and rebooted but something is up. im attaching one more ioreg report. Hopefully you can tell me anything about touchpad and HDMI / display port audio??? Got sound using USB C to HDMI Cable Regular HDMI gives static. Should AppleHDA_ALC256B.kext always be in L/E? debug_11337.zip
