Moderators Jake Lo Posted April 19, 2013 Moderators Share Posted April 19, 2013 I'm having other minor issues, like some artifacts and weird lines appearing randomly on the screen, and also, before the loging screen appears, sometimes the boot process will fail showing a kernel panic. What are the specs of your system? Did you use my Extra folder for the install? You might have different CPU so don't use the included SSDT file if you're using my boot pack. Sorcerer
Wow just stumbled across this forum.. wish i found it earlier may have saved me a lot of work. I have managed to get OSX 10.8.3 Retail up and running natively on my e6420 Using Tony's unifail Method. Installation went of without a hitch no special bootflags used, and installation completed successfully and restarted the system as it was meant to. Had to boot of the USB drive to get everything working initially but once i got the SMBIOS and the chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) 2.0.1 installed i can boot from HDD without a problem. I have not used a DSDT file at all but installed the MB Pro 8.2 SMBIOS. Using chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) 2.0.1 Bootloader with tony's Theme. Tony's multifail did not work at all as it always failed the install process however it did move the kext files into the right directory so only was a matter of repairing permissions using a Kext utility and then refreshing the cache with CHAMPLIST and then using the -f boot flag once after installing a new kext. So far i have graphics, Audio, ethernet, bluetooth, trackpad (as a mouse) and keyboard all working. Now working on getting the Battery recognition, and sleep working right.. the Lat has the Intel Centino wifi card so no way is that gonna work.. since it is actually a work laptop and i do not own it i am not going to bother replacing the wifi card. so will do without. Would like to get the Multi Touch trackpad working with gestures but not important as it is working as a mouse and thus sufficient for my needs. DVD drive is recognised and working as well Here is some specs from the system report. Moderators Jake Lo Posted May 10, 2013 Moderators Share Posted May 10, 2013 Welcome to OSXlatitude Sorcerer, Here we use the excellent tool myHack by Conti to build our OSX's. If you game, I invite you to test it out. You can start by following the process here. You can skip the EDP part since this model is not added yet. Just follow the USB Installer Creation and the Installation steps. Use my bootpack to replace the generic Extra folder. You have pretty much the same specs as my E6420, I had to replace the Intel centrino wireless with a Dell DW1510 wireless card, works nicely. Post back your success or failure. doubleingram
Hi, I am trying the MyHack too (unifail does't work for me), but I am not succesfull, not sure what is the best procedure. I tried just to make the USB boot stick, boot is ok, but I am not sure what Extra use. When MyHack install process asks for about disabling the Apple stuffI always choose to disable all options and then I have tryied a few Extra folders from here, but not succesfull. I do have NVidia NVS 4200 M 512MB. Could someone describe MyHack procedure step by step (some, who has "working" built by using this tools). I (and I think I am not the only one) would really appreciate it. Maybe a new thred would be nice. Jake Lo, the first link doesn't work for me (Sorry, we couldn't find that!). Thanks to all involved. You could read more about the tool at the creators website. Another member here Igashu, had gotten his E6520 with Nvidia nvs4200 working pretty well as I had follow it for my E6420 with nvidia display with success. That is pretty close to your hardware, not knowing what your pc specs is. Check out his instruction here and use his bootpack for the build. You should be able to get most thing up and running. Might need some fine tuning after. Check out this thread as well or use our search function. doubleingram
Thank you very much Jake Lo, don't know what might be wrong, but the "thread" link points to the same attachment like the "bootpack"... And the last full path link does't wotk for me, that's really weird, am I the only one who does not see that?

b1k3rdude
EveningLike others I have finally gotten around to building a hackintosh laptop.Specs: Latitude E6420 ATG i7 2620M HD 3000 & nVidia NVS 4200m, 1366*768 8GB DDR3-1333 RAM HDD 250GB WD2500BEVT-7 Sata - Intel series 6 sata chipset - QM67 Nic - Intel 825x gigabyte ethernet Audio IDT 92HD90 Bluetooth BT357 Wireless Dell 375 (Broadcom) input - Alps touchpad A06 bios I have tried the unifail method and it wont bott from the HDD, but if I boot from the unifail usb key and then select drive it boots and then i get a kernal panic. I then crearted a myHack USB key and tried to boot from that and I get a no-entry icon ontop of the apple logo(which is odd because it is booting from the inerall HDD), so then dowbloaded the bootpack from post #108 and added it to the usb key in this thread but then I get a KP. Any ideas...?

Will look to see what I put that, Im assuming I choose a vertain boot option when booting from the internal drive. Cant remember so will run it now.
