@wern, My mistake, HDMI audio is not working for E6520/E6420 with nvs4200m. It's working on my E6530 with nvs5200m. I'll continue tweaking to see if I could get it to work. As for the internal display issue, try this DSDT. I had fix the internal display and the battery issue. E6520_nvs4200m.zip

@Millerdry, Which guide and bootpack did you use? The one with Optimus enabled or disabled?

Boot with -v to see where it hangs.

Try the version from my signature below Exx20 Touchpad. Tested on ML, Mavericks, and Yosemite. Side scrolling is best, but 2 finger scrolling works too. Thanks to works of Yeahoon, sontrg, npjohnson, bpedman and rehabman.

Sorry, if I wasn't clear. The patched Kernel is only to fix the early reboot loop issue. You still need to patch libCLVMIGILPlugin to fix the preview/quick look crash issue.

Try adding /System/Library/Kernels/kernel to org.chameleon.boot.plist

Yes, HDMI sound works if: Your E6420 only has HD 3000 or Your E6420 has HD3000/NVS4200m, then you have to use NVS4200m. Won't work if Optimus is enabled.

What version of BIOS are you on? Should stick with A11

I'm assuming you're installing Mavericks with myHack method. I'm also assuming you have already installed Mavericks but now having graphics issue. From another working OS X, download just the /Extra folder. Launch myHack and select install Extra. Select "Use my Own" and point to this Extra folder, destination should be the USB Installer. Now boot with the USB Installer on the E6230. Select myHack, and Install Extra. Select "Use my Own" again and this time point it to the E6230 drive. Oh, don't forget to replace the DSDT with the one in the Updated page. Remember to rename it to DSDT.aml. This allows sleeping/wake with LID close/open.

You mean the Yosemite Guide? You probably installed both patched IntelCaprFB or the wrong one. For your system, you should select AppleIntelFramebufferCapri_03 and rename it to AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext. Delete AppleIntelFramebufferCapri_04. Then install everything in SLE to /System/Library/Extensions with kextwizard. The DSDT is patched for 03 as well. Edit: Nevermind, your 1st post saids Mavericks, so you probably meant the Mavericks guide. You don't need to replace the FB in the attached /Extra since your resolution is 1366x768. Only replace it if it's higher!

do you have a patched DSDT? did you use any of the guide from here? did you use any of the bootpacks provided from here? Try booting with IntelCapriFB=3 -v

Strange why the patch is not working for you. I just rebuild my E6220 with the same sound card without an issue. Let's see if you can get audio with Voodoohda. Go here, download v 2.8.7. Run voodoohdav287.pkg. Reboot

What you need to do is run the command from the directory where ssdtPRGen.sh is located. File could be place anywhere.

Download dpcimanager. Launch it and click on PCI List. Attach the snapshot here. Use Alt+Shift+4 to capture the screen. File is save to the desktop. Use More Reply Options to attach the file

Check your BIOS to make sure if ethernet has been disabled. Dell only comes with either Intel or Broadcom ethernet that I know about and both kexts are in the bootpack (Extra). As for audio, launch Chameleon Wizard, select org.chameleon.boot tab. Put a check next to HDA Enabler. Save and reboot. By the way, did you reset the BIOS to the default, hit apply and then only set SATA Operations to AHCI?

go to about this computer, system report. click on Audio, is there anything showing there? then click on Network, does ethernet show there? in system preference, Network, click to add. Under Interface, does Ethernet show in drop down? Also, click on Software, next to system version, can you confirm the version of OS X you installed? Mine is 10.10.1 (14B25) You are suppose to run those commands after installing/uninstalling any kexts, but I have been able to just reboot without any issue so far. Rule of thumb, run them if you don't see the desirable outcome. Try to boot with -f to see if sound and ethernet shows up.

Kexts that are in /Extra/Extensions/SLE has to be installed to /System/Library/Extensions with kext wizard. You can't just place it there. Try to install BCM5722D.kext in /Extra/Extensions to /System/Library/Extensions too with kext wizard in case it doesn't read it in /Extra/Extensions.
