Ethenet on Inspiron N5010 laptop with RTL8103T card problem!!!
Hervé replied to pham.tam1208's topic in The Archive
myHack used to support installation on MBR partitions/disks, but I believe this could no longer be the case. However, I've not tried that for a long time as I only use GTP formatted disks (on which I can still install Windows if necessary) BUT you may notice that myHack prompts you for a MBR-support mod towards the end. Give that a try... Do you want this because you have an existing Win installation that you wish to keep? An alternative would be to install OS X on an external (USB) disk: either a separate unit or, if it's big enough, a 2nd partition of your USB key... -

For the guide, look up the documentation in EDP pages (click on EDP tab at top of your page). Basically, using a Mac or an existing Hackintosh: download and install myHack create your 10.6/10.7/10.8/10.9 installer when prompted for your Mac OS software, click browse manually and point to your downloaded installation app or InstallESD image upon completion, re-run myHack and select Create Extra; if you don't have a bootpack (I don't think we've got one for your machine), use the generic offer if you use myHack 3.1.2, you're ready to go, if you use myHack 3.2Betax, you need to install Chameleon v2248 or above to your USB installer. Chameleon v2255 installation package is available off osx86.net (http://www.osx86.net/view/4069-chameleon_v2.2_svn_r2255.html), otherwise, use Chameleon Wizard to update your USB installer partition. try your Mac OS X installation (I don't believe you'll manage to install on an MBR partition though, I recommend you format GPT) If you still have KP, then we'll need to work on it, but as I said above, Realtek have not released any driver since SL; try it anyway (copy the attached kext in /Extra/Extensions of your USB installer then run myHack->myFix (full) on the installer) and if that does not work, disable your LAN card in the BIOS if it's possible. You'll then need a supported (non-Intel) Wireless card to get network connectivity. AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext.zip -

We don't support Uni-B**t/Mutli-B***t here, that has its own web site as you know it by now. We only support OSXL procedure, based on myHack. -
You need a retail version of Snow Leopard: 10.6.0 or 10.6.3. I believe Apple's final release 10.6.8 should also be available as a retail version as Apple re-offered it through AppStore for download a few months back.

You need to apply Chameleon v2248 or above to your myHack USB installer. Cham v2255 package is available off ox86.net. Or use Chameleon Wizard to update your USB installer partition. Alternatively, grab a copy of myHack 3.1.2 and you'll be Ok.

Ethenet on Inspiron N5010 laptop with RTL8103T card problem!!!

Are you sure it's an Intel 10/100Mb Ethernet port? The message above indicates Realtek... What does your KP message show? However, if you guys have an Intel wireless card onboard, either disable it in the BIOS or take it out; they're not supported. Intel cards often lead to KP when booting the Mac OS installer. -
Try to re-install Chameleon (v2248 or above...) or try the fix described here (4k sector HDD issue): https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2864-solved-bootloader-not-working-on-4k-hdd/

[SOLVED] Chameleon bootloader not working on 4k HDD
Hervé replied to JTylerBlake's topic in Bootloaders
Glad to hear you fixed it and thanks for sharing this info regarding fixing it from OS X. -
You appear to have the same audio hardware as the D630, so VoodooHDA kexts v2.81 to v2.8.4 should work Ok. What kexts do you have in /Extra/Extensions right now? You would just require VoodooHDA + HDA disabler kexts as provided below: VoodooHDA2.8.1.zip In fact, that laptop has a lot in common with the D630/D830 GMAX3100, the differences I see being limited to: - 2nd Video port - Ricoh card reader - Marvell Ethernet NIC
-
Ok, we should be able to get this integrated in EDP.

[SOLVED] D620 GMA950 (1440x900) kernel panic during install
Hervé replied to bjornan's topic in The Archive
The fix is to update the myHack USB installer with Chameleon r2248 or above and no longer use myHack's default Cham bootloader. -
Should be sorted now, the installer was still set with myHack's default Chameleon...
-
Are you using a retail version of Lion or could that be a recovery version by any chance?
-
That's not a card model per se... Can you provide PCI Vendor Id & Product Id?
-
that's also the place where you can add: "GraphicsEnabler=No"

If the CPUMonitor kext is giving you issue, get rid of it. You may try a different FakeSMC version ( a recent one) and with the newer plugIns, you don't need that kext at all. You may grab the FakeSMC kext + HWMonitor app from here: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2848-native-speedstep-on-c2d-d4xx/ then edit the kext plist according to your SMBIOS plist profile as detailed in the article here: http://www.osxlatitude.com/tuning-performance-with-fakesmc-smbios-plist/ For your HDD, you probably require the patched IOATAFamily kext (available in D630 boot pack). For your wireless, it depends entirely on the card that you have: Intel are not supported, some Broadcom require a patched next, some work OOB, etc. Look here for a non-exhustive list of supported models: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2120-wireless-cards-inventory/ This is not a model we have in EDP, so let's integrate it!

I take it you're using myHack 3.2 Beta8 and from either an existing Mac or Hack, right? It actually looks like Cham v2254 is not installed: your AppleEFIRunTime/NVRam error messages are typical of a boot with Cham pre-v2248. 1) create your USB Lion installer with myHack 2) re-run myHack to add /Extra (i.e. your boot pack) 3) from your Mac or Hack, download and run Chameleon Wizard. In the "Install" tab, select any version from v2248, select your USB installer as destination and click "Install"
-
Oh yes it can! Take it out or disable it in BIOS.
-
Can you tell us what settings you're using? I see reference to MBP5,1 at the bottom... I take it you're booting in 32bit mode as there are no 64bit kexts for the X3100, right?
-
Can you check your CPU in the BIOS? You need a Core2Duo like U7600 or U7700 CPU as Lion does not support Core Solo or Core Duo CPUs. Also, make sure you do not have an Intel wireless card in that laptop. All will be listed in System Info page of the BIOS. PS: CPUs are not interchangeable on the D420/430; they're soldered to the motherboard.

Here's the patched CellPhoneHelper kext for Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks. CellPhoneHelper.kext.zip and the patched IOSerialFamily kext for Snow Leopard IOSerialFamily.kext.zip

You can look at Dell's site for features or bug fixes brought through each version of Firmware. I strongly recommend you update to last version A09 as this is what we've validated OS X installation with. You won't break anything, far from it and you can run the BIOS Flash update from Win7 if you so wish. But if you don't have Win installed, just use a USB key, either a DOS bootable one or a "recovery" one with just the BIOS .hdr file. You'll find many posts on the forum on that particular matter.
