Where are the files that disappear or get corrupted ? If it is on the USB key, I know that some keys are not 100% compatible with Mac OS X. Some can't even be formatted in any other format but FAT/FAT32.

Check your BIOS settings...

Use lspci kext and then you can run Term command "lspci -nn" to list your hardware. That can help you identify some or all the necessary kext you may need. Then we just need to know those kexts, that's all.

There's a very detailed process described in the R&D section dedicated to DSDT patching. Please browse/search the forum AND the web site. For your audio, it's going to be difficult to help you until you provide the specifications of the hardware you have.

My apologies, it looks like I spoke too soon in my earlier message and without re-checking the Compatibility page. By all means, try the Lion bootpack. If you don't success at all, then it may prove a lost cause and Lion could be where the buck stops. But I just can't remember if anyone managed to get ML installed. I think so, but search the forum. Once you've created your myHack USB installer, re-run myHack and choose Add Extra, pointing to the Lion bootpack that you'll have downloaded just before.

I too noticed a memory clocking difference between what was reported on my D630 with NVS 135M and a D830 with NVS 135M. It's indicated in the article. I've no explanation for that... But you are right, you should expect a max. speed of 700MHz on the 140M GPU: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-Quadro-NVS-140M.4216.0.html This could possibly be improved with different SMC/SMBIOS settings, so don't hesitate to experiment. There's just no garantee, these are not real Macs after all. In case you have them, you should also be able to remove TSSync & SleepEnabler kexts. They're not required. So, when you do an EDP system build, all those CPU & Power Management kexts can be deselected. Anyway, I think we need to publish another article related to this and the most efficient/optmised way to deploy this tuning. I'll work on that.

As a general rule, you should avoid distros like iFail. You never entirely know what they contain. myHack + OSXL bootpack should definetely work as it is a system supported in EDP; so yes, we've tried it and installation was successful. Reboot is a typical indication of incompatibility with CPUPowerManagement (Apple or Null) and/or incorrect P states settings in Chameleon boot plist. However, the OSXL bootpack should take care of that. If not, you can always try to boot with option: "GeneratePStates=No".

Make sure you don't have NullCPUPowerManagement kext either and that you have P&C States ticked in Chameleon boot plist.

Try the various PS2 kextpacks available in EDP. If you find one that works ok for the blue pointer-stick, report back.

Yes and yes you can get all that! Use MBP5,1 settings as listed in the article and you will see GPU/Memory throttling. My tests were also done on D830 NVS135M with a T7500 CPU and the bottom of the article covers that very specific model. The FakeSMC version you installed through EDP is not suitable for the D830 and needs editing, i.e. edit your FakeSMC plist to change SMC id to 1.33f8.

You need to (re)install Chameleon on your HDD; right now, it appears you have no bootloader. Or check if you don't have a Chameleon version post 2270 with NVRAM.dylib in /Extra/modules as some versions are incompatible with the module. Ideally, use Chameleon r2248 or above these days.

So far, ATI Radeon Pro X1300 is only supported in SL. In Lion, you could get it partially supported through the FrameBuffer, but without full acceleration. It's totally unsupported in ML. I've posted guides for patching under SL. It's indeed better to change card. If you're looking at low-profile replacement, then yes the nVidia 8400 GS is a suitable candidate. There are others too, much more recent. I wouldn't judge the performance of a Hackintosh on the basis of these Benchmark tools. Don't rely on them. Are you using SSD or standard HDD? If HDD, what speed? Check your HDD BIOS mode settings too. ideally set it to AHCI or RAID.

Kext helper will offer you to install kexts either in /S/L/E or in /E/E. You should always prefer /E/E and keep /S/L/E as Vanilla (i.e. Apple original) as possible. Remember to rebuild cache afterwards, but Kext Helper normally takes care of that. Try to boot with "-x" flag. If that does not work, you have to boot in single user mode with "-s" boot flag and manually delete that kext from wherever you copied it. Then reboot with "-f UseKernelCache=No" flag & option.

That Intel Centrino wireless card will have to be replaced too. It's not supported.

You can get some of these cards for under $20/20€, so it's not a massive investment, far from it! re: BIOS issue, it sounds like you need to apply the CMOS reset fix (AppleRTC fix). It's just a kext to load. Re: built-in Ethernet, you probably need to load the right kext. It would help if you could identify the exact hardware model with lspci command or SystemInfo tool (requires Java).

Even for the purpose of creating OS X installers, VMs are often problematic. We've had several bad reports related to that: files missing, chameleon not installing, KPs, etc.

If you have the lspci kext in /E/E, try the "lspci -nn" command in a Terminal window; that should list your entire hardware with details.

That would have been a very useful info to get from the very beginning... VMs are often problematic. Why don't you make a real installation instead? You more likely to get support and succeed in installing Mac OS X.

There's something very wrong, you don't have a Chameleon boot plist !!!

Look for any differences on DSDT table and Chameleon boot plist between the bootpack you use initially and what you have after EDP System Build. A System Build will create a backup of your previous /Extra folder, so it's also easy to compare and revert if required. I assume that when you say "install EDP", you extend that to doing the System Build, not just installing EDP. If not, then yes, you ought to meet problem as installing EDP does replace your current /Extra folder but does not populate your computer with what is specifically required for it. That is the System Build result. There could also be something wrong with the default kexts for your own Optiplex 745. Maybe it's time you list: - your system's specs - your Cham boot plist settings and SMBIOS profile at initial install - your /E/E kexts at initial install then - Cham boot plist settings and SMBIOs profile after EDP System Build - your /E/E kexts after EDP System Build Then let's take it back from there.

Nah, I tried with Patel's file (I no longer have any 10.8.3 installation) and a DW1395 (which required a patched kext in /E/E) but no difference, so that's a no as far as I'm concerned for that card and Latitude D Series.
