There's a substantial thread at IM about AMD kernel for Mountain Lion. You can have a good look there. Remember that ML is normally 64bit kernel only, so if AMD kernels kept that line, your CPU needs to be 64bit capable.

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/291866-mountain-lion-on-amd/ By now, you must be aware that running Mac OS X requires special kernel, such as the legacy kernel you run (through ModCD installation) under Snow Leopard. No difference for Moutain Lion (or Lion) on that matter, if such a kernel exist for ML with support for single-core Sempron. Sempron CPUs are really low-end so you'd better stick to SL in my opinion. Since you're already on Insanelymac, do have a look at their wiki; it's well documented. You'll see that your Sapphire HD6450 is supported under SL and Lion and appears possibly supported under ML with patching.

Once booted, change your Hibernate mode to 0, either through EDP fixes or via Terminal command: "sudo pmset hibernate mode 0". You can then delete the sleepimage file. For your Boot0: error, please do a search on the forum on 4k HDD. You'll find the way to fix it.

Clone D430 disk with Snow Leopard and Lion to new HD and replace
Hervé replied to moonman's topic in The Archive
Of course. You can use ghosting tools (Norton, CloneZilla, etc.) that you run off a bootable CD/DVD to clone your entire HDD to an external media such as a USB key. An alternative is to boot Mac OS X off a USB key/HDD (i.e. you use a different installation) and then do a disk image of your existing OS X partition via Disk Utility. You can then restore that image on another disk and you'll get exactly what you had before. You cannot do an image of the disk you currently run off. -
Dell Vostro 200 - Snow Leopard/Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks
Hervé replied to Hervé's topic in The Archive
Updated to 10.8.5 using Apple menu->Software update. Completely straightforward. No post-update fine-tuning required. -
No MLPF installation will work properly after a straight update, you'll lose graphics support as the update will overwrite the MLPF hack. You have to wait until MLPF has been updated to support 10.8.5. All such queries should be addressed to Wayne at MacRumours. But if you're game, you can be our guinea pig and update to 10.8.5, then re-apply MLPF for 10.8.4 to see if it'll still run afterwards. Obviously take a full backup beforehand in case you break your system.

M9510f dead in the water- SOS! Starting over would suck.
Hervé replied to timnav's topic in The Archive
You wouldn't have that KP if the kext wasn't there... So yes, do try and remove the offending kext. -

Tried to remove the EvoReboot kext? If you can't use an external Mac or Hack to work on that disk and can't even boot in single-user mode, you're good for a re-install... -
In general - do you avoid Repair Permissions with Disk Utility?

It's Okay to use when you have issues; and sometimes it's required to fix issues that are not solved with myFix. Generally speaking, I personaly find that Lion is indeed not the best performer amonst the recent Mac OS X versions. I much prefer ML and/or Mavericks but I'm possibly biased as the graphics difference is huge between SL/L and ML/Mav. This being said, performance will also depend on the CPU you have and the amount of RAM you have. As an example, I replaced the T7500 CPU of my D630 nVidia by a T9300 and the improvement is quite noticeable. The laptop feels much more responsive. I'm also running off an SSD and that is without comparison to a traditional HDD. Your M4300, being based on the GM965 chipset, supports the same sort of upgrades. -
Not that it matters, but there can be no C2D T7500 CPU in a D620, as it requires a different socket, FSB and chipset than used in that laptop. Check your BIOS version and BIOS configuration using the dedicated thread at the top of the D6xx section. I recently made several re-installs on my D620s (GMA950 & nVidia) and there's no issue with myHack + bootpack. It's best to use myHack 3.1.2 for 32bit installation to avoid the documented KP, but it'll be Ok with myHack 3.2 if you update Chameleon bootloader to v2248 or later. If you have an Intel wireless card, either disable it or take it out as it's not compatible and can cause installation/boot issues. That's all I can say right now until you describe your D620 specs and installation process in more details.

We'll try and look into these. I admit the loss of headings can be annoying.

There are 3 alternatives you can try that should allow you to go through 1st boot completion and then run EDP to do your EDP System Build 1) disable Bluetooth in your BIOS 2) place left side wireless switch to off (you'll then need Ethernet connection to connect to the Net and download EDP) 3) press on ESC or SPACE or ENTER keys of the keyboard several times or click on the mouse several times until the message disappears (sometimes this does not work though...) What happens here with Lion (and it can happen with other versions too) is that, having not identified the keyboard of the laptop, the OS goes looking for a bluetooth keyboard. It's not much, but very annoying.
-
Well, unless you made an error in your latest attachment, I see the same problem as 1st one report, i.e. KP with EFINVRam error. You can try to boot off the USB installer, interrupt at Chameleon delay bar and select your Lion HDD partition to see it this lets you boot Lion to completion. Then check with Chameleon Wizard which version of chameleon you have installed on that Lion partition.
-
Same as 1st one by the look of things... -> Chameleon version.
-
Bootpacks only provide essentials for initial installation. Hence lack of audio, it's non-essential. This is however covered by EDP once you do the EDP System Build. I don't know what Lion fix you refer to unless you can pinpoint the exact cause of the problem. It's difficult to troubleshoot because I don'"t think any of us owns a HiRes WUXGA D830.
-
Let's see if we can help you. Watch this space...
-
Of course, use the manufacturer's provided kext/software, that's pretty much a guarantee that your adapter will work in Mac OS X.
-
If you want ML, refer to the specific guide in the "Supported models with guide" section. The current guide is for the D830 LoRes (1280x800), but it would be nice of you to try it out for your HiRes WUXGA model. You should just have to replace the DSDT provided in the bootpack by the one you currently use in SL 10.7 or Lion 10.7. Let us know, so that we may add/confirm the HiRes model to the guide.
-
Your Intel wireless card will not be supported; you'll have to replace it with a supported model. There's a list here. If the suggested boot pack does not let you boot your installer, try the generic one instead and build from it.

Mountain Lion 10.8.4 on Dell D630 - GMA X3100 with full QE/CI
Hervé replied to karpais's topic in The Archive
Just remove it and rebuild permissions + caches with myFix. -
As far as I know, the last BIOS for the D830 is A16. The pinned BIOS thread is right above this one. You would not normally miss it. If you get through with SL, then make another ML installer or get another ML image.

Up! Tested Ok under Mavericks (DP7). EDIT: 09May2014 - - - - - - - - - - - - - I confirm this still works with patched CellPhoneHelper.kext v1.3.2 under Mav 10.9.2

[Solved] Dell Vostro 200 not booting after graphic card change
Hervé replied to vgupta's topic in The Archive
That's fine. I see that it's listed exactly as my Twintech model (except for RAM of course): same PCI ids as expected, even same revision, only the ROM version differs as you could expect too.
