It's more a matter of kext needing patching, at least we know it's a certainty for Bluetooth. Apple changed the way they handle BT again in 10.8.5. It's very close to what they do in Mavericks.

You may get some form of load-balancing, but that's probably of little value for a home usage that would be primarily Internet oriented. You could try multiple IP traces to Internet addresses to verify.

That sounds Ok from a procedure point of view. What KP do you get? What does it say? Can you post a picture of it?

Not much to fear, EDP always makes a backup of the previous /Extra folder so that you can recover if need be.

That's normal: the bootpack (what you reverted to) only provides essentials and that does not include audio or battery kexts. Now that you're back on the machine, install Chameleon Wizard (update to latest version 4.2.x if offered to do so) and then install Chameleon v2248 or later through Install tab. You should then be able to redo your EDP System Build and reboot safely.

I guess you're doing something the wrong way, because when you run EDP to do your System Build, default settings for D630 (Intel or nVidia graphics) provide kexts for audio, battery, etc. by default.

EDP provides various VoodooHDA packages. All available from EDP when you do your System build and the E6520 is integrated to EDP...

Installing EDP does nothing until you actually complete the System Build... Please read the EDP pages at the top of your screen. You'll find all the documentation you need.

Use GUID partitions, not MBR and install Chameleon v2248 or later on your HDD once you're in Mac OS X. Apply 4k HDD fix if necessary.

Apple menu -> Software update or Combo update? You say it never completes, what happens? I guess you know that "Installation failed" messages are to be ignored...

Just follow our regular installation process with myHack to start with, then build on what will probably be a basic but probably incomplete build. That Intel wireless card has to go by the way; Mac OS X does not support Intel wireless cards at all.

Don't worry about the "Installation failed" messages, they're false negatives. It happens on many hackintoshes; nothing to worry about. Coming back to your installation, I see areas where you potentially fail to follow the process detailed in the guide after you've booted into 10.8.4: you say you run MLPF v0.3 and refer to 10.8.0 (your ML installation app, copied to Applications folder). That's Ok (and there's no need to copy MLPF to Applications by the way, that's not in the guide) but what do you do exactly? Did you create a MLPF installer small partition beforehand? Do you apply MLPF with 10.8.0 on that? You must not apply it to your 10.8.4 fresh installation! If you've applied MLPF with 10.8.0 installation app to dedicated MLPF install partition or dedicated USB key/partition, did you then copy DSDT + boot plist + SMBIOS plist to an "Extra" folder at the root of that dedicated MLPF installer partition? From your description, I'd say this is where you're going wrong. Once you've done the above properly, boot off that MLPF installer and once at Mac OS X installation screen, just run MLPF off Utilities menu and apply it to your ML 10.8.4 installation, selecting ML 10.8.4. In other works, follow the guide to the letter, especially steps 2, 3 & 4 of the 2nd phase.

There's a good chance you won't manage to install OS X on an MBR partitioned HDD these days. As far as I know, that is no longer supported by myHack; 'could be wrong of course; 'haven't done it for ages; maybe with myHack 3.1.2...

You must be doing something incorrectly. Tell us what you do, step by step, and with which version of ML. Do not omit any details, including tools version. What does your KP show? When does it happen?

There's a substantial thread at IM about AMD kernel for Mountain Lion. You can have a good look there. Remember that ML is normally 64bit kernel only, so if AMD kernels kept that line, your CPU needs to be 64bit capable.

No difference for Moutain Lion (or Lion) on that matter, if such a kernel exist for ML with support for single-core Sempron. Sempron CPUs are really low-end so you'd better stick to SL in my opinion. Since you're already on Insanelymac, do have a look at their wiki; it's well documented. You'll see that your Sapphire HD6450 is supported under SL and Lion and appears possibly supported under ML with patching.

Use our supported installer (myHack) and supported method (details available in EDP pages a top of screen).

Once booted, change your Hibernate mode to 0, either through EDP fixes or via Terminal command: "sudo pmset hibernate mode 0". You can then delete the sleepimage file. For your Boot0: error, please do a search on the forum on 4k HDD. You'll find the way to fix it.

Of course. You can use ghosting tools (Norton, CloneZilla, etc.) that you run off a bootable CD/DVD to clone your entire HDD to an external media such as a USB key. An alternative is to boot Mac OS X off a USB key/HDD (i.e. you use a different installation) and then do a disk image of your existing OS X partition via Disk Utility. You can then restore that image on another disk and you'll get exactly what you had before. You cannot do an image of the disk you currently run off.

Updated to 10.8.5 using Apple menu->Software update. Completely straightforward. No post-update fine-tuning required.

No MLPF installation will work properly after a straight update, you'll lose graphics support as the update will overwrite the MLPF hack. You have to wait until MLPF has been updated to support 10.8.5. All such queries should be addressed to Wayne at MacRumours. But if you're game, you can be our guinea pig and update to 10.8.5, then re-apply MLPF for 10.8.4 to see if it'll still run afterwards. Obviously take a full backup beforehand in case you break your system.

You wouldn't have that KP if the kext wasn't there... So yes, do try and remove the offending kext.

Tried to remove the EvoReboot kext? If you can't use an external Mac or Hack to work on that disk and can't even boot in single-user mode, you're good for a re-install...
