Multi-CPU computers are usually based on matching processors. That's what manufacturers always recommend. I would not expect the computer to work at all or work properly otherwise.

Mmm, with recent release of EDP 5.1, that documentation needs to be updated as it's a little behind now... I'm having trouble understanding what you are doing, can you list your steps? What you ought to do: 1) Prepare your USB installer with myHack 3.1.2 + Retail Snow Leopard (10.6.0 or 10.6.3 or 10.6.8) 2) download appropriate bootpack (make sure to choose the correct one for your D620) and copy it to USB installer using myHack -> Create Extra -> my own 3) install SL and reboot 4) after reboot, download and install EDP software, then run it to do your system build That should be it.

Mmm, looks like Chameleon is corrupted. Could you boot via USB key then download a recent Chameleon package (I think v2.1 r2069 is readily available) and re-install Chameleon?

Look for boot file 2170 (I've posted it a couple of times of the D8xx and D6xx forum) and try to boot with it.

Could you: 1) provide the PCI Vendor Id + Device ID of your Atheros card ? 2) provide the list of PCI ids as shown in the Atheros kext plist file (kext could be a plugin in IO80211Family kext) ? Yes, that's all, but if you're updating Chameleon, you need Internet connection to be available. How did you do your installation in the end?

I'm wondering if it just wouldn't be the DSDT table being removed from /Extra after executing EDP. If system can boot from USB installer, it's a 1st hint and once the system is up, it only takes 30s to verify...

Mario, I guess that would be on an external display, so similar issue to that experienced by D620 GMA950 users... Here's a GMA950 consistency! You'll find your VoodooHDA kext in /Extra/Extensions. Make a copy of it to your desktop, don't just move it. Right click on that desktop kext and select "display package contents". Double click on folder called "Contents". You'll then see a file called plist. Open it with TextEdit and edit and look for iGain. In the line underneath, enter the desired value (eg: 90). Exit & save your modification. Then copy your edited kext back to /Extra/Extensions (you may have to delete the initial kext first). Then run myFix (full) and reboot. That's it.

That's quite normal. When a laptop is put to sleep mode, the USB ports do not normally provide 5V power to connected devices. As such, a USB device gets disconnected and you'll get a pop-up message saying it was disgracefully removed. Some laptops provide a BIOS parameter that will allow USB ports to maintain 5V power, but only when the laptops runs off mains. Only in such conditions will you avoid the USB devices being disconnected after sleep. On a D630, that BIOS parameter is called "USB Wake Support" (the name is self-explanatory) and it works perfectly. However, on some laptops, it does interfere with sleep mode; for instance, enabling this parameter on a D620 will prevent the computer from going to sleep (it wakes immediately on going to sleep!).

Assuming you're talking about a D420 or D430 GMA950 with VoodooHDA audio controller, you can always try to increase iGain either in the kext plist or through the PrefPane if you've installed it. Re: video card, go look for "gmabooster" on the Net.

USB kexts are not generic, USB support depends on your chipset. I'm a bit lost with your keyboard & mouse problem... You seem to say your USB ports are working since you can read USB keys, but that you have no USB mouse and keyboard. Earlier, you mentionned USB wireless keyboard. So, which do you have ??? If bog standard USB keyboard & mouse, that should normally work OOB. Do you have any PS2 controller kexts in /Extra/Extensions at all?

I thought legacy USB meant compatibility with USB 1.1 or operation under USB 1.1 mode, i.e.slow speed. Usually, a BIOS offers USB legacy mode (1.1) or high speed (2.0) mode. Are you able to select one or the other at all? I'd expect a USB dongle (a Bluetooth one?) for a keyboard and mouse would still operate under legacy mode, unless it's only 2.0 compatible of course. On my Vostro, USB is configured for High Speed in the BIOS and I've had no problem with my wireless keyboard and mouse (Bluetooth models with USB bluetooth dongle), they work oob. You could try booting with option "USBBusFix=No" (you'll see a list of 3 or 4 USB boot options if you interrupt the boot process at the delay bar and enter a ?) to see if that helps at all...

Sounds like you indeed need to install/re-install the Chameleon bootloader. It won't do anything to your SL installation but, as always, if you have concerns, make backups beforehand...

You don't need an installer, just copy the Chameleon boot file to the HDD root.

If LAN adapter has disappeared, just extract it to /E/E from bootpack, the run myFix (full). If you got KP after SoundFlower was installed, removed it, but I guess it's probably more to do with the audio kext you chose. I'd go back to do a new EDP System build and carefully choose the patched AppleHDA kext that's listed for the D430. 2Go RAM max, I suggest you get familiar with the user's guide specifications off Dell's web site.

Sounds like following EDP installation, you have the issue of NVRAM + incorrect Chameleon boot loader, hence no boot! So, you should either remove FileNVRAM.dylib from /Extra/modules or update your Cham boot loader to r2169 or above. This has been talked about many many times recently. Do a little search on the forum, I've even posted boot file r2170 if memory serves me right. Re: trackpad, make sure to select Voodoo PS2 controller (ALPS) in the list when you do your system build. I think it select ANV-Slice by default.

I often found that, on the D Series, Lion (and Lion installer) required boot option "USBBusFix=No" to avoid keyboard+mouse issue...
