Yes, I've since found out the bootpack is incorrect and has an erroneous DSDT affecting graphics initialisation. Please use the pack posted here and no not use EDP for the time being until we fix all those EDP/bootpack issues.

Don't run EDP for that model! The bootpack was incorrect due to wrong kexts and erroneous DSDT table. By running EDP, you basically re-instated those wrong files, most notably the DSDT. That's why your D830 does no longer initialize graphics. EDP needs to be fixed again here... Now, you need to either replace your current DSDT with the one I provided in my pack on p1 or re-instate the complete pack and add your missing kexts manually (add them to /E/E and run myFix (quick)).

Installation of kexts is pretty simple: on a myHack installation, you simply copy them to /Extra/Extensions and then run myFix (quick). That takes care of everything, you just have to reboot on other types of installation, you can use tools such as Kext Wizard that will install the kexts to /S/L/E, repair permissions and rebuild cache you may also do it yourself manually: copy kexts to /S/L/E + repair permissions + rebuild cache if you know of find the commmands VoodooHDA clashes with vanilla AppleHDA, so make sure you also use AppleHDADisabler kext alongside. Voodoo audio kexts are found all over the Internet as kext packs or as installation packages. It must be one of the most common and easiest things to install on a Hack. Try them one by one, from the early v2.7.x to the latest v2.8.5 (or is it v2.8.6?). Once you find one that works, you may have to adjust the plist if you have persistent background silent noise. To upload files on the forum, you simply have to click "More Reply Options" button at right bottom corner of your reply window. It's just as with many other forums... Compress your files before attempting upload.

This is a separate issue to the EDP one, but look at the wireless inventory thread in R&D section of the forum. Any other problems, please open threads in Precision M section.

Can you check you've got BIOS configured as per recommended settings? If you do, add NullCPUPowerManagement kext to /E/E and re-run myFix (quick). It's buried inside the myHack app package, so browse its contents to retrieve it.

SL is not out of support, far from it. Use the above files. And EDP should still support 32bit-only system like Yonah-based D420/D430/D620, that was kept-on last year in early EDP v5. For audio, if VoodooHDA + AppleHDADisabler is not working, opt for patched STAC92xx kextpack.

Ha, yes, of course... Yonah CoreDuo. Sorry, sorry... You're going to have to go back to NullCPUPowerManagement + VoodooPState kexts + PStateMenu launch agent, native SpeedStep not being applicable to your model, undoubtedly... Copy those 2 kexts to /E/E and the plist to /Library/LaunchAgents, then run myFix (quick) and reboot. You should be Ok afterwards. NullCPUPowerManagement.kext.zip VoodooPState.kext.zip PStateMenu.plist.zip My apologies, doing too many things at the same time...

As I said, you can use the fully tuned pack and not need EDP. If you do an EDP build that installs a 64bit FakeSMC kext, don't reboot before you've actually replaced it by a 32bit or 32/64bit version and re-run myFix (quick).

There's an announcement at the very top of the forum about ongoing changes that will last until at least September. If the SL and Lion boot packs or EDP tuning provide/install 64bit versions of FakeSMC, please report it in EDP bug/issues section. Had you looked in there, you would have found this D620 SL-related thread where I've provided a fully tuned pack (no subsequent need for EDP). There are also 32/64bit versions of FakeSMC posted here. They can be used for 32bit SL and naturally also apply to D620 with C2D running Lion or MLPF'ed ML (graphics only supported in 32bit mode). The D620 can only run OS X in 32bit mode due to the Intel GMA950 graphics, so it does not matter whether is has 32bit Yonah CoreDuo CPU or 64bit Merom Core2Duo CPU.

Once you've reached the end of your installation (whether USB installer or actual HDD/SSD installation), proceed with myHack->Install Extra (using your own) and point to my /Extra. In other words, you replace whatever you may have used before by that pack. Don't use Kext Wizard, just place your kexts in /Extra/Extensions (or remove unecessary kexts from there), then run myFix (quick). Yes, DSDTEditor from IM or directly from the Olarilla links. All M4300 have the nVidia Quadro FX 360M, there's no exception... 'been said before in previous M4300 threads.

Ok, remember what I wrote in the post: the DSDT was patched for DW1395/DW1397. If you have a different wifi card, remove the entire Method (_DSM ...) from Device (ARPT) section of the DSDT and recompile.

Meantime, you may use the complete pack posted here and that does not require post-installation EDP tuning.

Using NVRAM Chameleon module? You may also try and add a credit card number to your AppStore account; 'known to solve the issue on occasions (was my own personal case...).

Did you try any version of VoodooHDA at all? Versions 2.7.x or v2.8.x ? My Dell Vostro 200 has built-in ALC888 (ICH9 controller with PCI id 8086:293e) and I get perfect audio with the VoodooHDA v2.8.1 that's was installed initially. Never changed it since. I would tend to believe the IM thread that mentions ALC1200 and would attempt the DSDT edit provided. If you don't know how to do it, just post your extracted raw DSDT (extract it with tools such as DSDTEditor or Chameleon Wizard, having booted without any DSDT file) and we'll look at it. Whilst you're at it, also post a saved output of IORegistryExplorer (again having booted without any DSDT file).

Ok, that boot pack is wrong! Try the attached and let me know. Extra_D830_NV140M.zip All you need to add is some audio kext (you can use VoodooHDA + HDADisabler kexts) and any eventual wifi kexts that may be required.

Doesn't an lspci -nn Terminal command show you the built-in audio device?

For the boot pack, just run myHack->Install Extra and point to the downloaded pack from this site. That should suffice for you to boot Mavericks.

Ok, this seems to be an nVidia model, right? Are you sure you're using a myHack installer with our D830 nVidia boot pack?

For the vanilla method, use myHack v3.3.1 + downloaded Mavericks installation application. Once you've made your installer, you simply replace the vanilla kernel (file called mach_kernel at root of media, USB installer or HDD) by one of the AMD kernels provided by Bronya (keep a backup of the original vanilla kernel - rename it vanilla_kernel for instance). You'll find them at InsanelyMac for download and I have also copied them to my Dell Precision 670 guide. Bronya published a new 10.9.4 AMD kernel yesterday and, whilst of works very well, it retains a few small bugs affecting graphics.

Use the boot pack provided by this site. It has all the necessary minimum set of files to get your basic installation going (in particular the patched DSDT file). Once you have that done, we'll help you finalise the installation with EDP or a direct complete /Extra pack if EDP proves problematic.
