Oh, and how would I update my bios on my e6410.  I only have os x installed so I'm not sure how to go about it.  I've searched Google and nothing.

Create a bootable dos USB drive, look here. Download the executable BIOS file from dell.

Boot from the USB and execute the file

ie. dos> E6410A14

Yeah, I'm not usually one to ask for help without searching first.  Trust me i've been looking...  I have bios version a06.  Is there really any benefit to me upgrading my bios, or if it works should I just leave it be?

I've noticed a good battery life boost between the older BIOSes and A14. Also, the fan is more controlled in the later updates.

Check the change logs if you really want to know.

To make a bootable DOS drive:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/46707-ms-dos-bootable-flash-drive-create.html

After that, throw the BIOS executable on the root of the drive:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/driverdetails?driverid=WMHW9

Lastly, when it boots, execute the executable by typing the following:

E6410A14.exe[PRESS ENTER KEY NOW]

Site is back online, but Patel4prez's guide above will also works.

As the old saying goes, if it's not broken, don't fix it. But there's no issue with the latest BIOS update if you want to upgrade it.
