You can expect this E6420 to work 100% under Mavericks 10.9.5. You may consult this thread for details and for the bootpack which contains all necessary add-on kexts. SD card reader will work OOK once you apply the necessary DSDT patch detailed here. For keyboard, refer to this thread and this one. Broadcom BCM4313 chip is not supported and has to be replaced by a supported card. See here for details. You can also update your BIOS to the latest version A24.

Obviously, you do NOT install a patched kext from El Capitan in a High Sierra build. Apply the patches, as described, to the vanilla High Sierra Azul kext.

As stated in my above research thread, I've not been able to obtain dual/multiple displays on my Haswell/HD4600 Latitude E6440 (close cousin of the E7440) with my Dell E-Port docking stations/port replicators (PR02X/PR03X) since Sierra 10.12.3. It did work with earlier Sierra versions and still does under El Capitan / Yosemite / Mavericks. VGA is not normally supported under Haswell graphics but, since you have HD4400 built in your i5-4300u, you may find it works OOB directly off the laptop. Binary patch that fixes final stage boot glitch (what you call the "scattered apple") for High Sierra is well known and readily available... If you want only the (VGA) external display, you have to close the lid, which means using an external keyboard and mouse (and probably a docking station/port replicator too - for the On/Off switch). Afaik, under OS X, you cannot turn the built-in LCD off on a laptop if the lid is opened.

The short graphics glitch (aka final or 2nd stage boot glitch) has been in existence for years now; it's just that, in High Sierra, the fix is different than it was in Sierra and El Capitan: In: IOGraphicsFamily Find: 0100007522 Replace by: 010000EB22 Just adjust your patch accordingly in Clover.

You're not following the documented process. Install ML as if it were a regular OS X installation. Only then will you apply MLPF.

AR9485 is not the best compatible card for OS X/macOS. You'll actually require a patched kext to get it supported and you'll find speed limited to 11Mbps. Why don't you just simply make a vanilla ML installer with myHack, then install standard 64bit ML on your X61. Then, you'll be able to apply the MLPF hack which requires to have a legit' ML installer package in Applications folder. You can't just overwrite the vanilla 64bit kernel with the fat binary version from ML Beta 1. Whilst it may then run in 64bit kernel mode, it just won't allow you to run ML in 32bit kernel mode since you wouldn't have the necessary fat binary kexts. Please state the method you use for installation and post the relevant files. For instance, if you use Clover, post the zipped EFI folder (less the Themes subfolder to limit the size). Re: wireless, Atheros ar94 is incomplete data; it'll be something like AR94xx.

HDAU is the device for HDMI audio. Regular audio uses HDEF. On E6x40 laptops, audio is silent if you reboot from Windows. To get audio working, always perform a cold start.

You can't have VoodooHDA (+ AppleHDADisabler) at the same time as patched AppleHDA. Use either/or (latter will be better than former) but not both at the same time. So, apart from audio, what would not be working now?

Where did you get your Clover config file from??? Change your SMBIOS profile from MBP10,2 which is an IvyBridge system to MacBookPro11,1 or MacBookAir6,2 which are Haswell systems and correct profiles for the E6x40. You appear to be missing Rehabman's FakePCIID kexts that are necessary for full graphics acceleration: FakePCIID FakePCIID_Intel_HD_Graphics You appear to be missing the dummy ALC292 kext that's necessary to obtain audio. Make sure they're fat binary or they just won't load and you could find yourself unable to boot initial 64bit-only ML installer/installation. You can use lipo command (from Xcode) to that effect.
