  1. Look at the inventory of supported/unsupported wifi card in R&D section of the forum. There are many cards you can choose from.
  2. Which exact version of Lion are you installing and what kind of wireless card do you have? If Intel, remove it or disable it in BIOS; it'll need replacement since unsupported.
  3. Add the attached kext to your /Extra/Extensions folder (on USB installer and/or target HDD) and run myFix (quick). Then report back please. AppleACPIPlatform.kext.zip
  4. That's it for the installation, assuming you have a myHack build... Download sections of this very site or Hackintoshosx.com are usually good places and, of course, the VoodooHDA repository on sourceforge. But it doesn't matter where you get Voodoo audio kext from, what matters is that you get and test different versions.
  5. I had never considered those Xeon CPU in the Vostro; I didn't know it could fit and run (never looked at LGA775 vs LGA771)... I may try if I can get hold of one, but there probably wouldn't be much gain over my existing top of the line E8600 C2D: http://ark.intel.com/fr/compare/35605,36608
  6. Or follow the article on that matter that was published in the Articles section of the web site.
  7. Thread is not useless, it's a potential solution for those machines with BIOS where SATA mode may not be configurable and OS X installer does not see the HDD. I think that was reported for other Dell desktops like some Optiplex 745 or 755. Something like that anyway.
  8. Mmm, maybe an incompatible USB key or a Chameleon package that is too old if you're doing all this from Leopard... Which version is it?
  9. I found I did not need any patched IOATAFamily kext on the Vostro 200; using plain vanilla kexts suffice.
  10. Interesting solution for SATA 6 capability (and AHCI SATA mode) for those older PCs that can be limited to SATA 1.5 or SATA 3 specs. You just used a PCIe x1 riser cable, right? Note that some of those Dell BIOS can actually be modified to unlock AHCI SATA mode for the motherboard controller. On unmodified BIOS, I understand AHCI is implicitly available by selecting RAID mode (without actually configuring any RAID array). I've been using such a modified BIOS on my own Vostro 200 for the last 3 years or so and been running with the onboard controller SATA mode set to AHCI since. Details are available here and here.
  11. Great, so we can expect some of those savings in return?
  12. Ok, bootpack sorted in original guide thread. Please note that you would normally be able to get rid of that AppleACPIPlatform kext in /E/E once you're up and running (I don't have it since 10.8.3 or 10.8.4).
  13. Mmm, weird... no LAN kext in the pack! That needs immediate fixing... AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext.zip
  14. To install kexts, it would be better to simply copy kexts to /E/E and install them with myFix (quick). Regarding the LAN interface, you're running on the Broadcom kext from the bootpack, right?
  15. VoodooHDA will not readily affect your future updates no; audio may no longer work after an OS X update and you could then find yourself looking at updating VoodooHDA too, but only one way of knowing after you possibly get audio working with Voodoo. It's easily installed and removed if need be. Could you please create your IOReg output with the attached copy of IORegistryExplorer v2.0. Later versions can give issues. IORegistryExplorer.zip
  16. Yes, I've since found out the bootpack is incorrect and has an erroneous DSDT affecting graphics initialisation. Please use the pack posted here and no not use EDP for the time being until we fix all those EDP/bootpack issues.
  17. Don't run EDP for that model! The bootpack was incorrect due to wrong kexts and erroneous DSDT table. By running EDP, you basically re-instated those wrong files, most notably the DSDT. That's why your D830 does no longer initialize graphics. EDP needs to be fixed again here... Now, you need to either replace your current DSDT with the one I provided in my pack on p1 or re-instate the complete pack and add your missing kexts manually (add them to /E/E and run myFix (quick)).
  18. Installation of kexts is pretty simple: on a myHack installation, you simply copy them to /Extra/Extensions and then run myFix (quick). That takes care of everything, you just have to reboot on other types of installation, you can use tools such as Kext Wizard that will install the kexts to /S/L/E, repair permissions and rebuild cache you may also do it yourself manually: copy kexts to /S/L/E + repair permissions + rebuild cache if you know of find the commmands VoodooHDA clashes with vanilla AppleHDA, so make sure you also use AppleHDADisabler kext alongside. Voodoo audio kexts are found all over the Internet as kext packs or as installation packages. It must be one of the most common and easiest things to install on a Hack. Try them one by one, from the early v2.7.x to the latest v2.8.5 (or is it v2.8.6?). Once you find one that works, you may have to adjust the plist if you have persistent background silent noise. To upload files on the forum, you simply have to click "More Reply Options" button at right bottom corner of your reply window. It's just as with many other forums... Compress your files before attempting upload.

    Bug EDP M4300

This is a separate issue to the EDP one, but look at the wireless inventory thread in R&D section of the forum. Any other problems, please open threads in Precision M section.
  20. Yes, so I'll have to dig up those STAC9200 kext packs from one of my other laptops.
  21. Can you check you've got BIOS configured as per recommended settings? If you do, add NullCPUPowerManagement kext to /E/E and re-run myFix (quick). It's buried inside the myHack app package, so browse its contents to retrieve it.
  22. SL is not out of support, far from it. Use the above files. And EDP should still support 32bit-only system like Yonah-based D420/D430/D620, that was kept-on last year in early EDP v5. For audio, if VoodooHDA + AppleHDADisabler is not working, opt for patched STAC92xx kextpack.
  23. Ha, yes, of course... Yonah CoreDuo. Sorry, sorry... You're going to have to go back to NullCPUPowerManagement + VoodooPState kexts + PStateMenu launch agent, native SpeedStep not being applicable to your model, undoubtedly... Copy those 2 kexts to /E/E and the plist to /Library/LaunchAgents, then run myFix (quick) and reboot. You should be Ok afterwards. NullCPUPowerManagement.kext.zip VoodooPState.kext.zip PStateMenu.plist.zip My apologies, doing too many things at the same time...
