yes you can backup your OS's but i am not sure of what third party tool can handle APFS other then apples disk utility. you can clone existing partitions back to a new drive after partitioning the new drive respectively. sometimes its simpler to use a third party app like clonzilla or carbon copy cloner or similar.

well he mentions to use 1.4.3 not 1.4.2 so the source code needs to be compiled from git

i guess it needs the display to be reinitialized. why i do not know but display port tends to have this quirk.

WEG kext has the boot option -igfxnohdmi to disable DP to HDMI conversion patches for digital sound. that sounds like the equivalent function of what the link you posted has done. unless there is more to it then just that.

yeah slice never includes HFSPLUS.efi in his releases i think he also removed APTIOMEMORYFIX.efi so just be aware in case for some reason you loose either updating clover. DID'S clover compiler releases adds those to the installer package.
