  1. May be either a bad USB key corrupting boot files or a hardware issue. See here: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1366-d620-mach-0-file-has-bad-magic-number/ or here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279289-unable-to-boot-a-once-bootable-system-mach-o-has-bad-magic-number/
  2. Did you install the AppleHDADisabler.kext as Hervé advised?
  3. VooDooHDA 2.7.2 should work. Have you tried going into System Preferences, Audio, output and check the settings?
  4. There shouldn't be an Extra on retail but there have been instances where an "Extra" extra has shown up, sometimes within the Extra: http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php?topic=5867.0 This issue seems to occur primarily on dual boot systems, but as in the one linked above, does occur on OSx only installs.
  5. Is it "error parsing list file" or "error parsing plist file"? Possibly an issue in your com.apple.Boot.plist or could be a hard drive issue, sometimes a bad sector will cause that issue.
  6. If you can check at the bottom of OP (first post - the guide), you will see at the bottom: TROUBLESHOOTING There is an area (with a link to a post) discussing Intel Graphics
  7. v0.2.1 is fairly old (and dated). I have used it on (older) systems that absolutely won't work with newer versions. I personally, find the newer versions to work better and have fewer issues than such as what you describe happening to your D420.
  8. Try going to Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and try removing it or replacing it with the plist from 10.8.4, run MyFix (full) and reboot
  9. OR...until it gets added to EDP, you could also read the thread, the first post of Mountain Lion Anyone, which has been kept up to date. If you feel something can be made better, you can contribute it and we can incorporate it into the thread. However, the GMA45 is going to be a problem until someone can figure out a way the utilize it in OSx, an accomplishment that many people are still working on.
  10. https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2870-read-up-boot-issue-kp-sl-installation-issue-with-myhack-32-beta8/&do=findComment&comment=21885
  11. Have you tried clicking on the pad? Sometimes the progress bar will stop (the blue progress line shows no motion). Clicking on it will sometimes show that only the progress bar has stopped, the installation continued. Or, if not, try using the installer in another USB port.
  12. As a thought for fund raising. Over the years people have accumulated items they don't use - they either no longer need them, have them in excess, or would just like to contribute them to help the cause. The person agrees to make these available for sale here, with the purchase price going to further development. The donator would agree to ship the item(s) to the purchaser after the buyer remits payment to someone designated to collect the fees and pass the buyer's mailing information the seller (to keep the buyers information anonymous). A price could be agreed upon to sell these items, and if necessary, the seller could indicate a reasonable shipping reimbursement (or donate shipping on smaller items). Give me your thoughts.
  13. This is usually a Chameleon issue. The only thing I can suggest is to try a different revision of Chameleon. If you tried r2262, dial in down to somewhere between r2248 and that. If you tried r2248, go up a couple. Try also using GraphicsEnabler=Yes
  14. Sorry to have been brief, but I was working on something for work. On the Mac or hackintosh you created the installer, download Chameleon Wizard. Open it up and on the top left, there is an install tab. Up on top there is also a drop down with the different revisions of Chameleon. If you don't see r2248 or higher, update Chameleon Wizard and choose a revison. Make sure your installer is plugged in, and at the bottom, where it says Target Disk, choose the installer and update it. Then eject it and use it to try the installation again.
  15. Use Chameleon wizard on the machine used to create the installer. Download it, update it to the latest version and then use it to update the installer.
  16. Read the thread I linked above (in particular posts #2 and #5). You can try updating the version of Chameleon on the installer to r.2248 or higher and try reinstalling
  17. Make sure you used the right bootpack, also which version of my hack did you use - you may need the update the version of Chameleon on the installer. Read this thread: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2805-solved-d620-gma950-1440x900-kernel-panic-during-install/
  18. I'm not sure why we haven't added the E6400/E6500 to EDP, because most everything works except true sleep (you will likely have to swap out the WiFi card, as they usually come with unsupported ones). You can read the Mountain Lion Anyone thread for the E6400 and Patel4Prez's thread (E6410 Mountain Lion Guide) for E6410 installation to get an idea of whats working, as it should work for Lion (I have a dual boot drive for my E6500 with Lion/ML, but don't recall if there were any other issues - I can send my Extra folder if you go that route). I had discussed adding the E6400/E6500 to EDP prior to taking a new role at work which has made for more work & travel, odd hours and restrictions on internet use while working, and haven't been giving it the proper follow-up I should. As stated, and of the Dells mentioned are a good bet, so you pretty much let cost and personal preferences dictate your choice. I confess to not being as knowledgeable about the Thinkpad's abilities as a hackintosh, but they are nice machines with a good, comfortable feel.
  19. I agree with Hervé that the D series laptop do a wonderful job and are usually more plentiful and less expensive than their E series counterparts. If however, you decide you would rather go with an E series, there is something you should know. The E6400 comes with either the Intel GMA4500MHD or NVidia NVS 160M video controller. The Intel video controller has no support in OSx, leaving for a significantly less desirable experience (No QE/CI), especially if you are migrating from a Mac. The E6410 will work with either Intel or NVidia graphics Controller (a different Intel controller is used in this model). All models have installation guides here, and enough knowledgeable people to get you through any rough spots you may encounter with both the D and E series. I own both E series models and prefer the NVidia graphics (the E6410 being a recent acquisition) and installation is similar, with the exception that the E6400 required that updated NVidia kexts needed to be installed (they needed to have the device ID added to the kexts).
  20. Sorry to chime in on this thread, but, Dells can be real particular with the RAM they use, I've seen it many times. Additionally, I used the kit number for your RAM kit and went to the reviews at Newegg, clicked on those who gave it one star and found several reviews concerning issues with Macs, so it might be conflicting with the software. If you have a hard drive you can install Windows on and check, you can perhaps narrow it down to either a hardware or software issue. Having said that, the memory you purchased is optimized for windows laptops, the kit starting with CMSA (as opposed to CMSO) is optimized for Macs. Presumably this optimization is software related as both are built similarly these days. Checking this memory in Windows might validate the issue is a software compatibility issue
  21. What Hervé is indicating is what we advocate. Using the ModCD was a way to create a MyHack build, which will be more stable to use. Create the MyHack installer and re-install. The ModCD is placing kexts in S/L/E which make it less "Vanilla", and henceforth more prone to issues, whether it be right away or down the line. Doing this will ultimately save you time, rather than correcting problems that arise. Further, should you decide to hackintosh other machines, the MyHack installer will work with others by just changing the bootpack. Especially for someone with a more limited understanding of the relationship between the install and needed kexts to optimize the system, using the EDP (without the limitations and added kexts from your ModCD install), will serve you best.
  22. With 10.8.5 seemingly ready for public release within the week (based on Apple's previous pattern of release a build to employees shortly prior to a general public release), I expect to see some additional WiFi issues based on release notes to employees. Please contribute any issues and or workarounds when they occur.
  23. You have no sound because you have no audio kext (driver). You will need to install a compatible kext. Check the D630 section and find whats working for others and add that, my MyFix and you should be good.
  24. Sorry, about the duplicate post Hervé, I thought you had turned in by now. I think he is asking if he needs to reinstall OSx via MyHack to utilize EDP.
  25. What Hervé is saying, is on reboot, hit any key to interupt the booting and type in "GraphicsEnabler=No" (without quotation marks). It will appear in the lower left, then hit enter. This is a boot flag (or option), instructing the computer which parameters to boot with. To have your system run optimally, You are using the ModCD to create a MyHack installer, which you will use to reinstall the system. The benefits greatly outweigh the time spent.
