  1. You can try adding a patched IOATAFamily.kext or an AppleIntelPIIXATA2.kext into your installer's Extra and see if that allows your hard drive to be seen for set up.
  2. Mark. Not sure what you are asking about - Installation procedure?
  3. The difference is between Intel and Nvidia graphics. Centrino 2 refers to the overall platform, which consists of Intel Core or Core 2 Duos (Core 2 Duo in this case), an Intel chipset and Intel WiFi. The only issue with the Centrino 2 (or Centrino Duo) that impacts us is the WiFi card, as all Intel cards are incompatible with OSx. The compatibility problem is with the graphics. The Intel graphics in these are NOT compatible with OSx, hence no CI/QE. None of the E6400/E6500's use CoreDuo processors, which have a smaller L2 cache and are slower that the Core2Duo's. I will ask if we can show these on the compatibility page, leaving the decision about listing the model with Intel Graphics to those who oversee that section.
  4. Let's take these one at a time - 1. Bluetooth can be turned off in System Preferences -> Bluetooth -> Advanced Settings -> Uncheck the two boxes 2. Touchpad - multi-touch features. Not really sure on these, although there has been some input on this forum and others 3. Sleep/Wake - I, personally have only succeeded with Suspend to Ram, others claim to have succeeded, but I'm not sure. Bronxteck's suggestion is worth a try. Suspend to Ram can be achieved by using these commands: sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0 sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage (this one is only needed if you have added a sleepimage) 4. VGA port - from what I remember, it requires a DSDT edit/patch - not my area of expertise. From this post, original post: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1100-dell-e64006500-research-thread/ - VGA Out Partially working. You must force "Detect Display" to discover attached display and again for detached display. Mirroring works. 5. Power button - never experienced an issue with it, but someone in this forum wrote about it with a fix, which it appears you tried.
  5. Shouldn't be a Mavericks issues as I have set up a system using a stock (unbranded) DW1510 with no issues.
  6. Both are possible. Mountain Lion Anyone guide has been upgraded to 10.8.5 ( EDIT: looks like I goofed and have not updated it - I will do so soon) & DaFOB has written a 10.9 guide here: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2674-dell-e64006500m4400-mavericks-109-gm/
  7. Look here: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1534-dell-latitude-e6230-thread/page-3 Jake Lo's post #44 which contains links to his guide and bootpack which he has working on an i5 machine.
  8. The other thing that may work is resetting the Apple ID password.
  9. Try opening iMessage, go to Preferences ->Account and sign in with Apple ID.
  10. Is the switch on the right side of the laptop in the "on" position (no red, or very little red showing?).
  11. You might try this: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2674-dell-e64006500m4400-mavericks-109-gm/&do=findComment&comment=24165 and see how it goes for you
  12. In as much as the E6530 is very similar to the E6430, might I suggest you view the guides for these written by member JakeLo. The best place to start would be here: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2327-dell-latitude-e6430/
  13. First, nice machine. Second, the E6400 (which is what this guide is written for) and the E6410 have different architecture (components) and the install of OSx is implemented differently. Please refer to the thread for the E6410 written by Patel4Prez to install OSx on your machine located here: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1695-e6410-mountain-lion-guide/
  14. Research & development section, Hardware subsection, WiFi/Bluetooth topic of these forums
  15. The kexts you tried before are for the card that showed in your system - the NVS 160M, which is what is in the E6400/E6500's. The kexts I posted today are for your specific video card, that is why I asked which of the two that come in that model you had.
  16. Try installing with the E6400 bootpack, then substitute the NVidia kexts I sent in a previous post today, see if the works for you
  17. Try using these three NVidia kexts (backup the originals), run a MyFix (full) to see if they make a difference.M4400 NVidia.zip
  18. What graphics card is in your machine (FX770M or FX1700M), and what OS are you installing? Mountain Lion was very finicky with graphics and the card you have may not be supported properly.
  19. Presumably, you used MyHack. I find the best way to minimize issues is the go into MyHack (If you didn't know, it's been installed in your applications folder). Enter password, (make sure to check the proper drive), run MyFix (Full version) whenever you make changes to the system, including updates and kexts. Takes a few minutes, but saves time in the long run. Glad to hear of your success.
  20. I have been very happy with Mountain Lion, but if you are happy with Snow Leopard, so be it. Hervé has compiled a great list of working cards along with needed kexts here: http://forum.osxlati...ards-inventory/ Use the Broadcom kext listed and you should be good to go. Kext is available here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8zvpa722gqjdzdx/BCM4312+Fix.zip
  21. First are you installing Snow Leopard (10.6) or Mountain Lion (10.8)? Second, which wireless card is in your machine - Intel cards are not supported in OSx and will need to be replaced, or you will need to use a wireless adapter. Just unscrew the back cover, remove and the wireless card is visible (the one with two leads connected to it, one white and one black). Let us know what it says or post an image of it.
  22. IOPCIFamily.kext.zip Sorry, for the delay. Attached please find the file.
  23. Ah, the ML.zip threw me - although that is the way the person who listed it labeled it. I will re-post it here and in the guide later when I have access to my laptop. My apologies, but often when people have problems, it is because of a corrupted image of ML, usually taken from torrents. Your E6500 uses the nVidia video controller, not the Intel, correct?
  24. If you are looking for the actual Mountain Lion image, none was ever offered here. We don't condone piracy, we suggest (and recommend), paying for ($19.99) the image from Apple. Having said that, there are other places to find it, but not here.
  25. I'm sorry, I read your message as you booted to a grey screen, didn't realize you could boot with USB stick normally. As Hervé indicated, updating Chameleon to a version above 2246 should resolve this.
