I would not want to speak out for people who experimented or use the E6410 Intel HD with partial acceleration but, having tried it myself, I can tell you that any system running without graphics acceleration is just painful. To me, there is really no point in running OS X in limping mode where anything a little graphical like moving or minimising a window is effectively laggy.
-
Well, one might say that Mavericks would mean you could use myHack and that it would therefore be easier, but I don't think it'll change anything if you have the wrong settings or wrong bootpack. Remember that you will only ever get partial graphics acceleration on that system (Intel HD of the E6410 is not fully supported due to display connector; see here for details), so you may actually prefer not to install OS X on it as It'll never be a particularly great experience.

Post those files so that we have a look.

Guys, please post your system's specs. KP due to AICPUPM (AppelIntelCPUPowerManagement) only affect SandyBridge and IvyBridge CPUs, not the C2D/C2Q or Arrandale CPUs as far as I remember. This being said, if you need Yosemite's patched AICPUPM kexts, copies are available in the Software Matters->Mac OS X forum subsection.

Re: ig-platform-id, are you guys sure the correct syntax in the plist is "0x16260006" or "0x16160002" literally? When I used to specify this parameter manually with Chameleon or Clover, I always had to enter it in reverse order and without "0x". For instance for id 0x0a260006 (i.e. Azul FB #12), I always had to enter ig-platform-id value "0600260a".

What OS X version are you trying to install?

E6400 Nvidia NVS 160M (not Intel GMA) Yosemite CLOVER Guide

You should have SpeedStep enabled in BIOS. Did you do the tuning for native CPU & GPU SpeedStepping/throttling? https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2673-performance-tuning-with-fakesmc/ https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/7807-latitude-d-series-nvidia-gpu-performance-tuning-with-agpm/ -
9020 Yosemite - USB3 HDD not working in SS-USB but does in USB2

Re: copy of kernel file, what you did was appropriate. Just verify permissions/ownership afterwards (should be owned by root:wheel (i.e. 0:0) and permissions set to 755 (i.e. rwxr-xr-x)) and adjust if necessary from Terminal: sudo chmod -f 755 /System/Library/Kernels/kernel sudo chown -f 0:0 /System/Library/Kernels/kernel -
E6400 Nvidia NVS 160M (not Intel GMA) Yosemite CLOVER Guide
Hervé replied to krzysztofc10's topic in The Archive
You never provided your specs so if you have the nVidia model, you may not have full graphics acceleration yet and if you have the Intel GMA version, well, you will never have graphics acceleration and OS X will only run poorly on that model. -
You'll find these, with a little search effort or by reading the original guide...
-
You now have graphics acceleration, yes. For audio, seek the eventual patched AppleHDA (must replace vanilla kext in /S/L/E) or install VoodooHDA + AppleHDADisabler in /E/E then rebuild your cache.
-
GPU & CPU power management is not managed through DSDT or SSDT for an Arrandale CPU; it's done through a combination of native AICPUPM kext + C-States & P-States enabled through the boot loader + tuned-up FakeSMC + appropriate SMBIOS profile. Read this thread + linked article for details.
-
Do you have native SpeedStep working properly? Hardware always tends to run warmer under OS X than under Windows or Linux; it's a more graphics demanding OS after all... However, much shorter battery life and much higher T° would likely point towards lack of CPU/GPU throttling...
-
-> "No kext loaded" ! That sure won't work... If the 2 kexts are there, they must have wrong permissions.

[SOLVED] No audio on Yosemite 10.10.4/5 with E6420 NVidia
Hervé replied to nisi80's topic in The Archive
Indeed, it's one way or the other. No need for HDAEnabler in the boot plist as far as I'm aware. -
[SOLVED] No audio on Yosemite 10.10.4/5 with E6420 NVidia
Hervé replied to nisi80's topic in The Archive
Where and how did you install the patched audio kext? Patched AppleHDA must replace the vanilla version in /S/L/E. Then permissions must be repaired and caches rebuilt. VoodooHDA + HDADisabler kexts still work from /E/E in Yosemite. -
Check whether you have graphics acceleration or not; for instance, run DVDPlayer and look at the Supported Features in the Help menu. You won't be able to run the app at all without graphics acceleration.

I've not spent any time on the iMessage issue as I don't use the facility. I know it can work with Clover but I don't use Clover much either...

You have the Sandy Bridge i5-2520M CPU and can therefore re-use the entire bootpack I posted, SSDT table included. There is nothing to worry about SysInfo/SysProfiler showing 2.49GHz instead of 2.50GHz, it's what Chameleon detects and it's a pure cosmetic thing. You may fix that to 2.5GHz by entering a CPU speed of 2500 in the SMBIOS plist through Chameleon Wizard for instance. You may notice that HWMonitor always shows CPU speeds a couple of Hz slower than exactly rounded up frequencies too. That's perfectly normal. HW Monitor should definitely display turbo boost multiplers/speeds in the range x26/2.6GHz to x32/3.2GHz. Your AICPUPM log certainly shows P-States that fall into the whole expected range so you should see the same in HW Monitor... Regarding GeekBench results, bear in mind that this is a CPU test so results may depend on what you've got running at the time you run the test. Consider it mostly OS-independant but you may not get 6000+ all the time and it may be a little lower indeed. 4800-4900 seems much lower that what I would expect on your E6220. For your reference, I've just run a test under 10.11 DB7 and I got 6068 with cDock + HWMonitor + Display Menu apps running in the background and BT + Audio + Wireless + Battery + clock monitoring in the Finder's bar. You say your SSD is in non-TRIM mode; is it by choice or because it does not support it? Update to Yosemite 10.10.5 and you'll be able to use the trimforce Terminal command if your SSD supports the feature. Anyway, I would not worry about anything if I were you, your E6220 appears to run Yos just fine.

-> Patched AICPUPM in /S/L/E or -> NullCPUPM in /E/E or /S/L/E Whatever you choose, repair kext permissions and rebuild caches each time.

Re: CPU speed, make sure IDA is disabled in BIOS. Did you tune your AGPM kext? https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/7807-latitude-d-series-nvidia-gpu-performance-tuning-with-agpm/ -
You can either install VoodooHDA + HDA disabler kexts or replace the vanille AppleHDA in /S/L/E by the patched version from any available E6220/E6320/E6420/E6520 packs.
-
It's got a 64bit dual core Pentium CPU which should be Ok with all recent OS X versions. Then, it all depends on the graphics chip fitted to the laptop...

E6320 with HD3000 - Booting Yosemite with Dell Docking Station
Hervé replied to simonjohnharris's topic in The Archive
Correct! You can use apps such as 0xED hex editor to that effect. It's a nice app to use. There are others like HexFiend. Remember to do your search in Hex, not in Text. To complete your patch, proceed as follows: Copy the SNB framebuffer kext found in /S/L/E to your desktop Right click on the desktop SNB kext and select Show Package Contents Open up the binary file found Contents/MacOS subfolder with your Hex editor app Apply your above modifications Save the file Copy the modified kext back to /S/L/E Rebuild permissions + cache from Terminal: sudo chmod -Rf 755 /System/Library/Extensions sudo chown -Rf 0:0 /System/Library/Extensions sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions sudo kextcache -Boot -U / Reboot One word of caution though: make sure to apply your Hex replacement to the line of the correct section, i.e. ensure you do have the vanilla lines (listed in previous posts) right above and below the 02 05 ... line you'll modify.
